Obviously I hope England win as I think we have the best bid by far to host it.

We have about three dozen grounds that fill the creteria without even having to spend another penny on building grounds that might not be done in time.

Our public services such as trains/planes makes it very easy to get to where you want quickly too.

Am I the only one not to be throwing a hissy fit over this?

Russia had a better bid, simple........

1) We have the better grounds.

2) We have the better transport system.

3) We have a multi culutral country.

4) We aren't racist.

5) We don't make things complicated with different time zones.

6) It's our national sport.

7) We were the only bid that could cope if the world cup tomorrow.

8) We could guarantee sold out stadiums at every game unlike Russia.

Russia would have been my last choice of the four to get it. If not us it should have been Spain/Portugal.

Nah Football as the sport we invented is our number one sport for people watching. We got 100% in all five catergories by FIFA, Blatter called the bid remarkable, and yet we only got two votes out of twenty two. One of which was our own guy voting. If having the grounds, transport, weather etc to host it on top of having a world known guy like Beckham, royalty, and the PM on the case doesn't get us the vote we never will. When I think of Russia I think of bad crime, corruption, cold weather, artificial pitches, vodka, and Anna Chapman. I don't think football.

yes, we are.

I agree the English bid had more going for it at first glance than the Russian bid, especialy with the changes being made to London in preparation for the Olympics, but this business has never been solely about who will be able to fill stadiums the best.

Look at South Africa, so many matches were played at 50% capacity stadiums. Its all political just the asme as Olympic bids

We really dont.

Quote 2) We have the better transport system.

Debatable, they have links to 2 continents (a direct train to Asia) and easy access from USA, while everyone here complains about train delays, waiting for buses etc.

Quote 4) We aren't racist.

lol you must be joking. Have you not seen the shoutbox today?

Quote 6) It's our national sport.

Its theirs too.

Portugal got the Euros 6 yrs ago, it wouldnt be fair for them to get this too, joint bid or not.

We do have the olympics in 2012 and to be honest, who gives a crap who has it? The football will be amazing, the whole world will be watching and we'll have the usual misguided optimism that England should do well.

We have the best grounds, transport, football league, fans, would have made FIFA the most money, and have a multicultural society.

Clearly they are paying us back for the Sunday Times report the other week and the Panarama documentary on monday night.

We've got Champions League final 2011, Olympics in 2012, Commonwealth games in 2014, and Rugby world cup in 2015 so those events will show FIFA what they are missing not picking us.

We have the best fans, thats about it.

Theres no fix, or FIFA bias. The decision was made before that documentary came out.

Right, time to go to town. Having a best friend who is Russian, and having had lengthy discussions with his mother about the state of the country, I'd like to think I'd be better informed about them than you.

Quote 1) We have the better grounds.

Debatable. Russia's got some fantastic stadia, and when they try the pitches will be perfect, I wouldn't worry about that. Besides, I don't actually know alot about the English bid, but I'd assume the final would've been at Wembley, and that pitch has been dodgy for years.

Quote 2) We have the better transport system.

Never underestimate the power of government. Shit will run like clockwork when the World Cup comes around there, bet on it.

Quote 3) We have a multi culutral country.
Does this matter? At all? If people are turning up to the stadiums, it makes no difference what colour they are.

Quote 4) We aren't racist.
Well, yes you are, and Russia won't be for a small period before, during, and after the World Cup. Power of government. There will be skinheads sucking black dick on the street during the World Cup if necessary.

Quote 5) We don't make things complicated with different time zones.
Doesn't matter, most of those games I would imagine would be held in the Eastern part of the country, where the time difference isn't that great. Besides, don't be a selfish prick, different time zones make it better for FIFA, you can play teams in places where it'll be on in prime time in their country. More ratings. Better.

Quote 6) It's our national sport.

So? It's theirs too, as stated, and that shit is popular. Back in the day football was literally a matter of life and death, and people now are still almost as fervent as they were then.

Quote 7) We were the only bid that could cope if the world cup tomorrow.

Lucky the World Cup is in 2018 then. Knob.

Quote 8) We could guarantee sold out stadiums at every game unlike Russia.
No you couldn't. Do you think New Zealand v.s. Slovakia would've sold out in England? Ivory Coast v.s. North Korea? South Africa v.s. Mexico? Come on man, pull your head out of your ass. People will be there in droves in Russia, attendance won't be a problem.

It's all about the power of government. Russia, despite it's problems now, will be picture perfect come World Cup time. All of their issues with racism, shakedowns, and hooliganism will disappear, I guarantee it. If they put their minds and their money to it, the Russian government will do a far better job of controlling it's citizens and their behaviour during a World Cup than the English government would.

Stop being so one-eyed.

Well us drawing Scotland should make some interest in a qualification group that we never get anymore.

It's been on my bucket list for years to watch a live game against the Auld Enemy. That it's a competitive match at the home of football just makes me want to go more in November 2016.

Like one cousin helped out with Ashes tickets in the past due to being part of the Yorkshire CCC members, i'm going to see if another one is still an England member to get tickets on my behalf.

Be nice to see the game...Haven't been to a Scotland vs England Game since Gazza Fired a belter of a goal over his team mate Andy Goram at Wembley during Euro 96 a few months shy of my 10th Birthday.

Since I got into Rugby I have dropped football almost completely. Still keep up with Villa and Greenock Morton though

Lucky you mate. Hopefully get hold of a few tickets with a bit of luck. Be loads of police around for this.

Once England members have had their tickets and they go on general sale I don't fancy trying to buy through a website as it will be slow and probably crash. They will likely go within minutes and then be put on other websites with massive price mark ups.

The return leg is a week before my birthday in June 2017 but not sure i'd feel as safe as an Englishman going to Hampden Park Tongue

Well England have done their usual .. qualified with plenty room to spare - whilst playing awfully and being the most boring team on the planet.

Now all we need to do in order to keep up with tradition is to turn up to Russia, hyped up to bits and then go out there with pride and get knocked out at the first stage

So we haven't lost a qualifying match for eight years, won to nill AGAIN and by winning our last two games we actually helped out Scotland, who must be for the first time in their history wanted us to win two games in a row LOL

Gone for the 2/1 Sky Bet offer today England 2+ goals, England 5+ corners and Lithuania 20+ booking points.

Same odds nearly came in other night (England one goal short) but being away will help us because the home teams can't park the bus against us or their fans will let them be told in the stands that it's not acceptable.

We just need to avoid defeat to the Irish to get at least a play off place. I can't see Serbia not being Georgia so it is a straight shoot out between both side. Ireland will need to force the game as a draw will do us, so it could get pretty interesting.

Adam Davies, Tom Bradshaw and Ryan Hedges. Three tarn players in the Welsh squad and nobody born in the country they represent

Bradshaw even was the replacement for Gareth Bale which I found very funny.

Doubt any will see game time just like the other night.

Bradshaw may if we need a goal as our other options are Robson-Kanu and Vokes haha. We're as guilty as the England cricket team for kolpaks, but we're small so we can use the grandparent route...we do right down to grass roots too.

I was shocked that Wales didn't pick up the win against Ireland and as a result missed out on a playoff spot - one of the worst human beings walking the earth scored the winner too !!

We looked so short of ideas against 9 defenders, plus the Ref didn't help, oh and that nasty horrid shove by the twunt who scored the winner on Joe Allen so he got knocked silly by Meyler was nasty too.

Even if we did score we'd have finished 9th of the 2nd places so a win was needed and it just didn't happen. Not beating Georgia at home cost us.

Italy failed to score in 180 minutes against Sweden thus failing to make the World Cup. I wonder if Zlatan will come out of retirement for Russia.

Italy can’t rely on their ageing defence anymore which is where the issue lies - they have no creativity now Pirlo has retired and I think them failing to qualify will be a more frequent thing

They have some excellent youngsters coming through the ranks, however I think they've missed a trick by not starting to blood them now.

They're lucky they've got Donnaruma to step straight into Buffon's boots, but the defenders errmm yeah, the highly rated youngsters are more attacking IE Chiesa.

Tried to post in here yesterday but the forum (or my macbook) was being an absolute arsehole

Was really suprised Denmark smashed Ireland the way they did - especially considering Ireland went 1 up.
Eriksen was phenomenal and his hattrick completely ruined any justification i had for taking him out of both of my dream teams
