If this is anything to go by I think Qatar are going to take some serious beating.........

Awesome stadiums good for the environment and giving away parts of the grounds to developing countries after it's over.

No rainfall during world cup months so it would be interesting watching people play in 40 degrees every day.

They would have awesome stadiums and loads of money for regeneration projects in the country, but their laws in the Emirates are too strict, I'd guess a lot of football fans would get locked up over there for breaking minor rules that they didnt know existed.

The Australia bid wouldn't be bad either as that's a country people wouldn't moan about visiting.

A world cup final at the MCG cricket ground would be quite spectacular.

It would also be taking place during the Aussie winter where the temp currently is around 13-17 degrees.

I'd probably see about going to the Final if it's in Aussie, as long as those bastards don't do what we've done here for the rugby world cup and raise accomodation fivefold Big smile

The Qatar bid site seems to be down. Anyway I knew money would talk and they would get it.

40 degrees heat means it could be the first world cup of indoor stadiums with air conditioning.

Australia would have been a good choice. They only got one vote and also went out first round.

If they can do something to avoid the issues of heat that caused Japan/S.Korea to be a bit dodgy at times, its got the potential to be great. Especially with the money these guys can throw at it.

The heat is likely to be a major factor otherwise

They dont allow Palestinians a visa, which will prove a problem if Israel qualify. Also the beer bans are way too strict, I'm guessing the jails are going to be overcrowded.

Other than that, their stadiums will probably be the best in the world come 2022.

Quote
American bid leaders had been circumspect about their chances in recent days, perhaps sensing FIFA’s voters were not lining up behind their bid. The decision might reflect the United States’ diminished standing in the world because an internal study conducted by FIFA showed the U.S. would produce the wealthiest and most successful tournament of all the campaigners.
...skipping ahead...

Furthermore, Thursday's vote signals a long, long wait for an American World Cup. China is already tabbed as the front-runner to host in 2026, and the tournament would be expected back in Europe for 2030. There is no timeline for those decisions.

This is considered a huge blow to MLS and soccer in the USA.  (Yeah, we call it soccer... piss off.) The last World Cup drew it's highest rating in the USA.  Granted that ranged between 2.1 million  up to 12.9 million for the US-England game.  But that's still a 41% increase from the previous Cup.  And with the booming Latino sector of the US population, the interest in futbol is rapidly growing.  Unlike Qatar who is "promising" to have state of the art stadiums ready in time... the USA bid involved using 18 existing stadiums that used by MLS (and of course the NFL.)

China... hmm, and people are worried that a Muslim nation will be "too strict."

Europe covers a lot of ground.  I'm forced to acknowledge that unlike other Americans, I realize that Europe is not a country but a continent (or a crappy 80's hair metal band--take your pick.)  But if that's the earliest that England might get to host... then I suggest freezing David Beckham now.

If you are Jewish, female, or like a drink there is no point coming to the event.

I'd have gave it Australia who have the grounds, never had it before, and have an ever improving football league.

Utter shit. Couldn't believe this. Do Vanuatu get to hold it in 2026? Sep Blatter or whatever the fuck his name is needs to go, now. South African World Cup was shit, only bright spots were us, Uruguay, and three big European teams being awful. I can't remember a single match that didn't involve New Zealand that I would call good, let alone great. Korea/Japan was ok at best. And yet he still has a hard on for taking the World Cup to new places. I'd bitch about Russia's problems too, but there's another thread for that.

I think we can all agree that Qatar should lose the world cup.........

http://yougov.co.uk/news/2014/06/04/qatar-should-lose-world-cup-blatter-should-/

If they do I hope that Australia get it like I wanted to in the first place.

They at least have the stadiums, transport links etc already in place so if the World Cup started tomorrow they could host it easily.

The only problem we have is convincing the other footy codes to not crack up a stink about it and that won't be much of a problem these days considering the popularity of the sport here. We are an awesome place, would make a great host.

Qatar should be stripped without a doubt, then it should be down to the other guys already in the ballot for this draw in a re-vote, it's the fairest way.

Lampard looks past-it, Barkley outshone him in every way, really hope it's Gerrard and Barkley who start against Italy...
