Just started playing Red Dead Redemption, it was on sale over the weekend in the On Demand Ultimate Sale. The whole soundtrack is fantastic, but this song in particular is so fitting for the event it accompanies

God I love this song... this was the first game I got for my NES back in the day and I used to love this song then. This though, damn...

Dragon Quest's castle themes have always been amazing. Koichi Sugiyama and his baroque sounding music has such a great sound and authenticity to it. In the case of the castle themes even more so than Nobuo Uematsu.

However...

As great as Koichi Sugiyama is, he has never done anything as spectacular on a compositional level as the Dream Oath Opera.

I was listening to this song on pandora long before I realized what game it belonged to. So funny to me to think this comes from friggin angry birds.

I always liked the VI song, I was kinda sad when they changed it again. heheh

I had all but forgotten about this song... I should really load C&C up again. I loved that series. The Tiberian setting moreso than Red Alert but both were great.

Just... damn. The metal cover is very good, and the video to go with it is awesome. Can't love Mass Effect much more.

How I miss the Sierra Adventure gaming days. I loved Quest for Glory 4, and the theme song was epic for that time.

And of course, there was Leisure Suit Larry, in the land of the lounge lizards, looking for love in several wrong places, and Passionate Patty's Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals. I loved the first 3 LSL games, before they brought the graphics up to date a bit more and turned Larry into a cartoon character.

Good ol' Al Lowe actually plays the sax in this version of the theme song.

If you liked Duke 3D you'll like this game, just don't go expecting it to be some technical marvel. It is definitely not good enough to win any kind of award, except for being awesome through strength of character alone.

It's kind of like the Big Pappa Pump of First Person Shooters; over the hill, too late in coming, not living up to the potential it had if it had shown up much sooner, but the character itself is still badass and enjoyable if for no other reason.
