The Dark Side Of Wrestling episode about him that aired last night was the hardest wrestling documentary I have ever watched.

It's around 25 degrees outside and watching that 45 minutes broadcast gave me chills and goosebumps.

It's 21 years this Saturday since that tragic night and the video footage of him saying that wrestling won't be forever, making money and then back to family that part got me.

Oje and Athena come across very well. So level headed and it's a credit to Martha that Oje is a lawyer, Athena a journalist and neither have gone off the rails.

As for Martha she didn't come across as bitter. Her opinions were all fair points even though it's still a shame he's not in the HOF.

Such a dangerous stunt should have had the safety taken of it much more seriously.

JR got told he had died then was counted down from ten seconds to come back on air. He shouldn't have been put in that position.

The show should have been stopped but instead matches took place in a blood soaked ring where the boarding wasn't sturdy anymore from the impact of their work mate falling to his death.

It's such a sad shame that some of the Hart family stood by Vince instead of Martha like there was only one company around they could continue to wrestle in.

Jericho hit the nail on the head. In 1999 few could keep up with Owen in the ring. If he hadn't passed away he would have seen a surge in his career with matches with guys like Eddie, Benoit, Malenko, Angle etc who came after.

He had been with his childhood sweetheart since fifteen, saved his money well and was well on his way to retiring for the quiet family life he wanted.

As disappointing as it is that we may never see Owen in the Hall of Fame you can understand Martha's point of view for sure and I think most people in her position would hold WWE accountable for her husband's death.

What makes it even more sad is that it's said that Owen was the only member of the Hart family who WWE would not let out of his contract following the Montreal screw job, Jim Neidhart and Davey Boy Smith had their releases granted and headed to WCW with Bret, but Owen had his request rejected and as he was locked into a long term deal he remained completely professional and honoured his obligations to the company up until his death. So if WWE had respected Owen's wishes there's a excellent chance he would be alive today and living the quiet family life he was planning for.

He didn't mind the Blue Blazer gimmick even though everyone knew it was stupid and beneath him.

He hated the storyline with Debra as even in storyline he didn't want to lose his family man real life persona.

I know he would have retired from wrestling, but he could have had a job there for decades.

If I remember right Owen did the Blue Blazer gimmick to try and distance himself from the smutty attitude era content, even though BB was a very tongue in cheek character it allowed him to be more of a role model and not do the more adult themed stuff that most talent were doing at that time.

I think Owen may have been under a 5 year contract so by the time it expired WCW would have been obsolete or Bret would have certainly advised him not to go there based on his experiences. It's said WWE raised his pay to try and sweeten the deal he was locked into so perhaps Owen would have retired at the end of it. Sadly we will never know.

Jimmy Korderas hit a nerve with me when he had Owen shout at him to watch out.

Owen knew he was falling to his death and still in his very last words he's warning someone else to get out of the way incase he landed on them and hurt them.

It's a shame the documentary was rushed in to 45 minutes, as they could have made a mini series of hour long episodes easily.
