So my wife and I are back in Stanford getting her scanned for her 5 year check-up. She had her surgery 5 years ago on Thursday and she has been cancer free ever since. The rumor I always hear is that if you go 5 years cancer free after your surgery, you are considered cured. I really hope so and hope that we can put this thing behind us once and for all.

Yeah, I've had kidney stones, and that used to mean something, then she got cancer, fractured her skull, had a stroke, and an adhesion which caused a bowel obstruction... plus 3 whopping 10 pound (4.5 kg) babies.

I got nothing.

Well, not nothing, I also had my appendix burst, twice apparently as the doctors came to me as soon as I woke up after surgery and marveled that they found scar tissue on my appendix and said they'd never seen that before and were amazed I was alive.

And I also had my big toenail ripped out in a barefoot bicycle riding accident, and then the nail track grew smooth because I had athletes foot, and when the nail grew back it had to manually dig the nail bed again and every little thing I did made me bleed like crazy. I still say that overall that was worse than either the appendix or the kidney stones.

Oh, and I was almost killed for being a dumbass and playing with a wasp nest and stung dozens of times and only survived because my uncle picked my dumb ass up and rain like crazy with me in his arms, and I'm not allergic.

I like to think I've a pretty high tolerance for pain, but compared to what she went through I've a flimsy argument because she always turns it into a pissing contest. LOL

Also, fuck yellow jackets.

That is absolutely awesome to hear. I remember years ago you were posting about some horrendous times. Now it's beautiful to hear a success story. Congrats to her. Clap
