The trouble they have with the current format is that because its less than 2-3 hours and the fact they need to give everyone TV time at some point, the weekly tv comes across as disjointed.

One week you have lots of good stuff where they are developing feuds, the next week there just some random matches thrown in there.

The biggest issue is the post-takeover shows whereby basically no one from the main takeover card features and we get loads of pointless matches and endless recaps.

I guess if the show is going to be live then this will change and well end up with what we get with the post PPV Raw and Smackdown which is normally good because the crowds are lively too.

Yeah the post Takeover show is taped the same night as Takeover so it will only feature talent not involved in Takeover so its always a completely missable episode.

Disjointed is a good way to describe NXT TV, they are trying to showcase as many talents as possible while also developing storylines but they seem to struggle to find a good balance. Hopefully 2 hours will make that easier.

My main concern about a 2 hour format is that match quality may suffer, NXT talent can currently go all out in their matches as they work a nice light schedule, main roster talent have to tone things down to avoid constant injury as the schedule is far more gruelling so they have to try and work safe. With a increased schedule NXT talent may be forced to work a safer style too.

Yeah the post takeover NXT episodes are always a skip for me, they're the dark matches from Takeover. That was always when I'd have problems staying in touch with NXT. I'd skip that episode, and the next was an also boring start towards the new storylines. Sooner or later they'd get good again, that was always dependable but suffering through the aftermath of a Takeover sucked. It wasn't really much to complain about considering it was so dependable but for viewership purposes it will hurt ratings if they continue to go that route.

How would WWE react if, when NXT debuts on Fox, it becomes the highest rated WWE show?

I mean for 1 Vinces ego would probably be smarting knowing that the show he isnt involved with is performing the best.

You then have the fact that WWE seem adamant to make Raw the #1 show for the brand. We did see a while back when Smackdown was hitting it out the park, Superstar shakeup happened and now both shows are probably on an uninspiring par.

Theres obviously the competition of AEW which may prevent Vince medalling but part of me thinks Vince wont accept anything other than Raw being the main WWE show.

NXT is likely to attract alot of the AEW fan base / lost fans that arent happy with how the current product is being offered, NXT caters for a different audience, for more of the wrestling fan - like AEW and less about the sports entertainment aspect.

I mean the imminent situation is absolutely perfect for me, i LOVE NXT and i LOVE what AEW is doing - its absolute wrestling perfection for NXT to go 2 hours (as long as it keeps to what its currently doing) and AEW to have a weekly TV show which is focusing more on the wrestling aspect. Id imagine this is the case for alot of fans and i do think NXT could become the highest rated WWE product in terms of TV viewership because lets be honest it is already head and shoulders above anything the mainstream WWE product offers now or has offered in the past 5 -10 years.

I think there's a very good chance NXT tops Raw and Smackdown in the ratings on at least a few occasions.

If this was to happen consistently then I think Vince would have to accept that the NXT formula is what fans want and his WWE product is not, I think this would result in much of the NXT style being incorporated into the main roster which of course wouldn't be a bad thing at all.

It already looks like Vince is preparing to step back and focus on the XFL and let others take the lead with Raw and Smackdown while it's said NXT will remain completely Triple H's project just with a bigger writing team to help him which is understandable given the hours of tv each week has doubled and Its now live and not pre-taped.

So theres looking like a pretty stacked card for the first episode of NXT Live

The WWE Twitter page has just recently confirmed that Matt Riddle will go against Killian Dain in a lawless street fight as part of that show.

This is going to be an epic opening episode

Yeah the opening 2 hour episode is shaping up to be a fantastic show, on a similar level to the Takeover events based on the line up. Really looking forward to Dain vs Riddle, they tore the house down in their recent match but I expect this one to be even better. Strong vs Dream should be a great match too.

What needs to happen is for NXT on USA to draw equal or ideally better ratings than Raw and Smackdown at least on occasion which should then convince WWE management to switch up the main roster style to more like what we see in NXT.

I've seen numerous reports stating that even though it's on weekly TV, WWE wont acknowledge NXT as the third brand.

This is positive because it means the format and match style is less likely to change but also means that they will claim Raw is the no 1 brand even if it turns out that it actually isnt.

Well have to see how it goes because you can only ignore the ratings for so long

Quote WWE put tickets for their first four NXT on USA TV shows today and all of them are already sold out at Full Sail University (WWE dubs the venue as Full Sail Live). The location is quite a bit smaller than most arenas that WWE runs out of, so the strong showing will no doubt raise questions on if WWE will take the NXT brand to other cities, especially as it begins gaining exposure on USA. The events that are sold out are 9/18, 9/25, 10/2 and 10/9.

What do they charge for tickets and what is the venue capacity to know how much of a big deal this is?

I suspect they will move it one the road by early next year, but I would keep them away from arenas for now.

Keep the big venues for the big events and use ECW touring size venues that hold say a max of 4,000 for a compact feel.

To add to what is already a STACKED debut show for NXT Live, there has been some changes to the womens no one contender match, Candice LeRae has been added to that match.

On the recent NXT tapings, Rhea Ripley also had the chance to inject herself into the match, however she got herself DQ'd against Shayna when defending herself against her and Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.

Booking sense would see her added to make the match a 5 way as when you look at the other contestants, Biance and Mia have already had opportunities, Io and Candice have their own feud to settle (even though candice has yet to have an NXT Womens title shot). That would leave Ripley to win the match which would not only give her the title shot but also allow her to carry on this feud with Shayna.

Expect more changes but expect an absolute banger of a show.

Im going to put it out there that this will be the best weekly wrestling episode of the year. It will beat anything that WWE main roster can do or will do and it will also beat anything AEW can do - unless they make a huge marquee signing to add to their already solid wrestling style.

Forget AEW v WWE - it seems to me that the real contest will be AEW v NXT as both brands are seemingly going to offer a product far superior to the supposed main WWE brands.

With NXT stars putting so much emphasis on them becoming the third brand, plus several WWE superstars who have moved back to NXT stating that talent now see a main roster call up a horizontal step as opposed to a verticle step it makes me wonder if they will eventually do a NXT v Main roster angle.

Kevin Owens has also posted cryptic tweets which would indicate he is headed for NXT and if there is anyone who would have motive to spearhead such an attack on the main roster, he would be the guy given how he has been treated by Shane in recent weeks.
