In fairness both main event matches would have been better if they went 5-10 minutes less.

Well the reason I point out the 60 minute iron Man match between Hitman and HBK is that the entire match in both cases were very slowly and boring with it being very obvious they were saving themselves for the finish. Nothing happened then MORE nothing happened and then yet even more nothing happened and then shit went crazy and it was great and it left on a high note and apparently that's all anyone remembers.

Jericho vs Omega was interesting throughout. Great spots sprinkled all through the match. Decent story telling, great psychology. All in all it was a very memorable match.

There is a very good possibility that had I actually known who Okada and Naito we're and what the story if their feud was that that alone might have carried me through the opening doldrums because I would be anticipating what was to come, but with out that? Not so much.

Did think it was a bit ridiculous that the over/under was 6 stars for Okada/Naito. While an amazing match, it wasn't 5-star worthy and didn't leave me on the edge of my seat like Okada/Omega from the year prior. I also think that this should have been Naito's crowning moment, but it appears that it's being put off until later in the year.

I'm still undecided if my match of the night was Omega/Jericho or the 4 way Jr. Heavyweight match.
I've heard people complain that the 4 way was just a spot fest, but is there anything wrong with that? It's a showcase of 5 of the best Jr.'s in the business, and that's including Daryl.

Omega/Jericho delivered on the hype, and was definitely more of a fight feel than what Omega usually puts out. Even though it was obvious that Omega was picking up the win, it was still enjoyable nonetheless.

That being said, the cutoff for 4*+ is Ibushi/Cody.

The top 6 were difficult to rate.

I absolutely loved this card from end to end.  I was very suprised that Masahito Kakihara returned in the Battle Royale.  For those who don't know, Kakihara was an MMA fighter turned pro wrestler during the Inoki-era of New Japan (where he wanted NJPW to blur the lines of MMA/Wrestling - which flopped horribly).  He was diagnosed with cancer, I believe, 2 years ago and has been having a huge struggle with it.  Thankfully, he beat it (he looks MUCH thinner, but his face looks healthier).  I started following NJPW in 2001, so I remember Kakihara and POPPED when I heard his music hit.  He's also such a class act, guy wore a Takayama T-Shirt (Takayama is a popular wrestler who recently got paralyzed after a botched sunset flip).

I was also pleasantly surprised at the story-telling done in Roppongi 3K vs. Young Bucks.  They had a few high spots, but this was an old school tag team match, that built off of injuries and body-part targeting.  Surprisingly fun, and also a nice punch in the face to people who said that the Bucks can't work that style - they can, and showed it.

Ibushi vs. Cody was WAY better than I thought it'd be (and the story it's telling with Omega vs. Cody is really interesting).

The main events, both, I loved.  I disagree with a statement earlier that said Naito/Okada wasn't THAT great.  I frickin' loved it.  There was a lot of false finishes, and NJPW did it again - where I changed who I was rooting for mid-way.  I went in cheering for Naito, but Okada's face-like "never quit" character got me cheering for him.

Jericho/Omega was an awesome brawl - and some spots were cringey (in a good way).  I laughed out loud at Don Callis' commentary when he was nearly taken out.

Kevin: Don, are you okay?
Don: NO, I'm not okay!  He just tried to kill me!
(Omega double stomps Jericho into a table)

Don: AND HE JUST DOUBLED STOMPED HIM THROUGH THE GOOOOOD DAAAAAMN TABLE!

^ I lost it, it was amazing.  NJPW's product is so damn good.
