Surprised at the appointment and don't see why he's been given the chance. Kevin himself knows he wasn't first choice. It's just a choice to make the fans happy. I don't see him improving Newcastle. I guess now that Alan Shearer is going to be coming in as the assistant manager to learn the ropes. Then in a couple of years he will be ready to take over. Harry Redknapp turning down the chance to double his wages showed up the Newcastle board. Keegan hasn't reached the standard he was as a player, since he's been a manager. I've never been that impressed with what he's done as manager.

This is a huge backwards step for both Keegan and Newcastle. He left Newcastle as a hero and the fans will expect the same this time round. They have no where near the same quality on the field, they dont have the same pulling power to sign big time players.

Newcastle have become a mid table team with fans that expect champions league! It just isn't realistic and to be its the one job in football that no one really wants.

I wish Kev good luck but I can only see failure in this appointment.

I know the fans wanted his appointment but I'm not too sure whether it was a good move or not. First time around Keegan did well with Newcastle with leading them to title race with Man United. I think for Keegan to stand any chance of making any improvement with Newcastle is for the board to allow him enough time to do it, I would personally give him till Christmas and have a look at the position that Newcastle are in and then maybe go from there.

Till Christmas???? Till christmas to do what? The one thing Kev, the board and the fans need to figure out is where is a realistic target and then give him the time to hit that target.

I personally thing the target for them should be at the end of next season....not this one to be in europe. Uefa is the best they can hope for because at the moment they are a mid table team at best.

You made the appointment now you have to let the man do what he can. Give him till the end of next season to make an impact. You can afford to give him the time unless relagation looks likely and Newcastle maybe in bad shapes at the moment but that to me isn't a realistic theat

I'm saying till Christmas as that is when we have a better picture of who is likely to be in the title race and who will likely to be battling for relegation. Therefore we can see where in the table Newcastle are and whether they stand a chance of making any improvement on past seasons.

Ah Viduka, the man who Paul Merson thinks is better that Dimitar Berbatov "when he's fit"...
