Is there any way we could enforce some kind of policy within the software that doesn't allow new members to post in topics until an administrator or moderator checks their IP address and runs a simple check of how they found out about this place?

"That'll drive n00bs away Russ no!"

Well it's not like we have lots of people kicking the doors down to join up anyway. Shit, we've had 6 people sign up in about 4 months now, and 4 of them (at least) have been the same person. No problem. Easy peasy.

It would be fine if we had a mod on more often than not, but Adders isn't even on every day and Willy's on maybe two or three hours a day, and more often than not they're on at the same time. I don't really care who the new mod is, Thundarr is a good pick as he's generally on at different times and more regularly than Adders/Willy, but if neither of our current mods is going to be on regularly, we need another.

I agree - there needs to be some form of IP check before they start posting.

There haa been at least 6 sock puppets created by sora and as per ravens comments in a previous thread - there arent mods on here enough to.stop them quick enough

There could be a usergroup setup where newbies would need their posts approved by Adders/Willy before it's shown but that could easily put newbies off too.

In these cases, it'd be better to put them off. If someone keeps running through with a sockpuppet then I don't want them here. It's still real to me, damnit.

I haven't been a part of another wrestling forum for awhile now. Does anyone know what other forums are doing? (Remember, don't post any URLs or full site names.) It would seem weird to be requiring mod approval if that's no longer common.

Most other wrestling forums are dead, beyond the websites of dirt sheets (dumb smark central) and WWE Universe bullshit (polar opposite). This website is honestly the most active and well-organized I've ever seen. We can and have the ability to make it run smoothly and efficiently.

Yeah, I've looked for other forums a bunch of times when we've been quiet over the last six years, there's none of this size around. They're either enormous, like the Wrestling Forum, or dead. Most people are content to whinge on dirtsheet comment sections and/or YouTube these days, wrestling forums are dying out.

WZ is huge and has multiple unique mods per forum. They have an email activation only, and before anyone thinks I am plugging them, hell no, I couldn't hate them enough.

But I don't really see a big problem with sockpuppet accounts. I think THAT is sort of wierd about this site. Sora trolling is way more entertaining to me than Raven4mod. That got old and tired after the first week, Sora is hilarious. His lies had me laughing nonstop.

It makes the forum far worse than anything me or JTB do or say though, and it's annoying having to put up with it.
