So I could clearly see Neville and Jericho's match had an audible called due to Neville getting injured, but I didn't see the injury itself. In replays you can see that Neville caught his foot on the mat when he went to slide under Jericho.

Apparently this resulted in a broken ankle and now Neville is going to be out for a while.

Give credit to Jericho for telling the ref to disqualify him. It reminded me of a direct improvement over the Owen vs Austin finish when Owen injured Austin. Smarks knew what was going on, but I doubt the causal fan noticed the improvised ending, and Jericho did a good job in keeping in character while protecting Neville.

All the crazy shit the guy does and it's a basic landing that has given him a serious injury.

With his in ring style you expect him to get regular bad injuries like Tyson Kid, Rey Mysterio etc but just not like this.

Ankles are a bitch and so this will have definitely shortened his career.

With all of his high flying abilities. It was only a matter of time before he got hurt. It's unfortunate that he got hurt at the wrong time because the WM card is already weak.

Quote Backstage, Tom Phillips is with Chris Jericho. He asks if he is prepared for a fired up Neville after Jericho interfered in his match last week. Jericho said everyone knew Owens would win the match. He jokes about Neville being Mighty Mouse and here he comes to get a Codebreaker tonight and he’s going to get, not it, “tonight I’m going to give him the gift of Jericho. Drink it in maaaaaaaan.”

Chris Jericho vs. Neville

Chris Jericho with a slap early to Neville. Neville fires back with a right elbow. Neville with a series of charging takedowns on Jericho. Neville catapults Jericho over the top rope preventing a dropkick. Neville hits the ropes, Jericho moves out of the way, Neville hangs on the ropes and flips backwards back inside the ring. Jericho is arguing with fans on the outside. Neville walks out and kicks Jericho in the gut. Neville tosses Jericho back inside, goes up top, jumps and catches Jericho with a huge cross body. Jericho then crawls over and hides behind the referee in the corner. Neville with kicks to Jericho. The referee tries to back Neville off. Jericho with a rake of the eyes and clothesline to Neville.

-Commercial Break-

We are back live as we see Jericho catching Neville with a springboard elbow from the corner. Jericho had dumped Neville off the corner face first countering a superplex attempt. Neville catches Jericho with knees to the head. Jericho fires back with an elbow in the corner. Jericho is back up top and eats a shot from Neville on the way down. Neville with a standing shooting star press on Jericho for a two count. Neville with a chop to Jericho. Jericho bails. Neville with a running dropkick to the face of Jericho and then catches him on the outside with a springboard moonsault bouncing off the second rope. Back inside, Jericho tries to knock Neville off the top and Neville jumps down. Neville with a springboard missile dropkick that results in another two count off a pinfall attempt. Neville counters a running bulldog attempt by Jericho sending him chest first into the corner. Neville with an elbow to the back of the neck. Jericho with a counter and is going for the Walls of Jericho. Neville counters into a small package for a two count. Neville avoids a Codebreaker and lands a superkick. Neville goes up top, misses a 450, Jericho gets Neville in the Walls of Jericho and then drops his knee down over the head/neck of Neville to add more pressure. Neville taps.

Winner: Chris Jericho

Seems he was brought back just because he was fit to wrestle again, even though he's had zero direction since returning.

He was out a fair few months but instead of it giving creative time to think of something for him it appears to have been out of sight out of mind.

He must get put in the cruiserweight division or else he's short on options.

He's one of the only guys on the 205 roster that doesn't look out of places wrestling on Raw.

I'm surprised he's not been given a new entrance theme because unlike a lot of tunes, his one doesn't fit both face and heel work.

I'd like to see him cut a promo on the fans saying he doesn't do high flying moves anymore because they aren't worth risking his health for.

Much as I'm loving his heel work it does seem a shame that he has eliminated so much of his high flying offence from his game, I get that acrobatic flashy moves tend to get a babyface reaction and also Neville will safeguard his health and career by not doing them but when someone has such a talent for high spots it almost seems a waste.

Overall though the pros outweigh the cons and he's impressing me with his heel stuff. I do think he will outgrow the Cruiserweight division though and move on to bigger things.

Quote From Jim Ross Website

If allowed to wrestle through multiple storylines, Neville has the tools to evolve into a great Cruiserweight Champion but he needs to enjoy tenure as he's not 'over' yet and nor is anyone else the division. As I have said before this weight class has loads of potential for quality bouts but it takes time to get the public to buy into the  wrestler's personalties. I'm a Neville, heel fan for sure.

His frame looks like he could put on weight easy to be a decent midcard away from the spot monkey division.

I wonder if he struggles to keep weight off or not. He's still more over than most.

I'd have had his heel turn be better than coming off whingy at fans who had supported him through a career threatening injury.

I dont particularly like this vile champion 'King' character that Neville is playing, but hes doing it well and its a refreshing change from the original face role he had.
I just wish the WWF would give these Lightweight's the chance they deserve instead of the naff little 5 minute segment each week, if they are lucky!
And sticking his title match against Aries on as the first WM free show match was an appalling idea.
