Corey Graves a few times lately has brought up for storyline that Charlotte seems to have lost a step lately. I agree for real that she has. Maybe it's the face turn, brand switch or being distracted by the health of her dad but this wasn't her usual high standard contest.

Arguably two of the better women wrestlers and yet they don't appear to me to have much in ring chemistry.

Shabby ending too which made the champion look shit.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Charlotte, as a face, is horrible.  Well, at least in WWE - it's horrible.

Charlotte is born to be a heel.  She plays one very well.  Her gimmick played off as a face could work if she was able to continue to "heel it up".  But this is WWEPG...where if you are a fan favorite, you have to placate as a lovable, friendly, and approachable good guy/gal.  It's not like the Attitude Era, where faces were all unique (see: Austin, Mankind, The Rock, The Undertaker, Kane) - where they let their character sell themselves and people accepted the character as-is.  People can get behind a character and love that character in WWE today, but WWE listens to their marketing team and creates "template" face and "template" heel characters and pushes you to fit into that mold.  Charlotte, I fear, is a victim of this.  She isn't super experienced, so pushing her to do something that she isn't super comfortable with is going to show her weaknesses quickly.

If Charlotte can play an arrogant heel well - why would you make her change that to placate to a "face" mold?  Let her still be arrogant, but just against heels.

Natayla, on the other hand, is a great performer - but she's horrible on the mic.  She just never had what it takes to be "the top star" in the women's division.  She's a good journey woman for WWE - she's like the Lance Storm of that division.  The veteran who can mentor younger talents, get good matches out of sub-par performers, but simply can't be the top dog.  That's fine, you need those people on your roster.  Characters that can get over on their ring-work, but can take losses/wins to support someone else's story.  Natalya is just so awkward and dry.

The best Natalya was was when she was in a supporting character role for Beth Phoenix for that brief "Divas of Doom" team back in mid 2000s.  In that case, she didn't talk.  Beth did all of the talking.

Let Charlotte be Charlotte and get Natalya back into a quiet babyface role...and for the love of god when she comes out, hide the mic.

Divas of doom was 2011 and 2012, just fyi.

I would tend to agree that Natty is sort of a Lance Storm kind of woman for the division. Her knowledge of wrestling is immense, her ability in the ring is immense too, on the mic, not so much.

Charlotte has been a wallflower on SmackDown. In fact at this point I would say the standout horsewoman is Becky Lynch and way more than the other three.

Jeez, it was 2011/2012?  My time is all fucked up, isn't it? :)

Thanks for the correction!

I'd also agree that Becky Lynch is definitely the stand-out.  She's also the most seasoned talent, so it makes sense that she'd be the most well-equipped member of the "horsewomen".

the problem is that they don't feel they can turn Charlotte heel, they're still trying to get what they can out of the outpouring of emotion for Ric being in hospital, and that will continue for some time.

in regards to her still being arrogant but still a face, that also doesn't work out well. Remember the Miz as a face, but still making the same kinds of statements heel Miz would? it makes no difference to have an arrogant tone if you're still having to do through a smiley face, and that is what we're stuck with.

I agree Nattie needs to drop the title and be kept away from the mic.

I disagree (though I respect) your comparison of Miz/Charlotte.  That's apples to oranges comparison.  Miz fell into the same exact trap that Charlotte is.  Miz is best as an arrogant and cocky personality.  Miz was getting cheered by fans naturally because of this - he was funny, and fun to listen to.  Had they just let Miz be Miz, he'd be a natural face.  BUT, WWE always has to fit people into molds.  Since Miz was getting some pop, they made him full blown babyface.  He teams with Flair, uses the Figure Four - and they thought that would work?!  No one wants to see THAT kind of Miz.  They want to see an arrogant, pissy, and cocky character.

Give fans the character and let THEM decide who is face or heel and DON'T change the character.

Charlotte is a natural at being cocky and queen-like.  Making her face isn't working because she's told to calm that down as a babyface.  Stop making babyfaces fit your "babyface mold", WWE.  Let the character be the character and let fans decide who they want to cheer for.  As much as WWE wants to control the message and control the fans - it DOESN'T WORK WITH WRESTLING.

They did the same shit to Roman Reigns and look how that is turning out - had they left him a silent bad ass (you know, the character that got him over to begin with), I think they would've had a much easier time accepting him.  Instead, they had him cutting the worst god-damn "Rock-wannabe" promos and placating to the crowd.  That isn't the character people loved.

Charlotte is so winning the title on Tuesday isn't she? As WWE backed themselves into a corner with too many heel champions LOL

if that were the case, Baz, I don't think they'd have swapped out the Shield with The Bar.
