Quote partial source: PWInsider.com

-- IGN.com has a new interview with MVP on their website. In the interview, he states the two wrestlers he liked to work with one day; Masahiro Chono (former member of the nWo) and Low Ki a.k.a. Senshi, who's still listed as an active TNA wrestler on TNA's official website. MVP said, "I'd love to work with Chono, and there are so many up and coming guys in Japan; I've always wanted to work with Low-Ki! He's a friend, but I'd love to work with him. There are so many people." MVP also talks about WWE going in HD, studying old wrestling tapes, if he plays video games, and more. You can read the interview at this link.

MVP interviews are always interesting. But then he's had a rather interesting life so far. Maybe he will get his wish of facing his mate Senshi one day in WWE. I'd not say no to seeing them two fueding with eachother. It says much about MVP studying old tapes, that the two guys he wants to face, are wrestlers who have travelled the world and not just got stuck in one style/country/company. Well worth clicking on the link and reading his views on none wrestling topics, that you don't find out about everyday.

WITH his unique character, strong wrestling skills and off-the-charts charisma, MVP should be at the very top of the WWE right now.

But the man who was last year tipped as wrestling’s next big thing is currently stuck in a “losing streak” storyline stretching back to the summer.

So we invited MVP to be our first guest of 2009 on the multi-award nominated WrestleCast to discuss what went wrong and how he can put it right.

And in a candid chat, he admitted that being overly confrontational backstage may have cost him – but added he has learned from his mistakes and will bounce back stronger.

MVP also spoke openly about his relationship with Chris Benoit, how he came up with the character that convinced Vince McMahon to hire him and gives his thoughts on this year’s Royal Rumble.

Here are the best quotes from our interview with MVP – although to get a full flavour of the star we strongly recommend you listen to the full audio:

On being the next big thing this time last year: “Maybe that was the problem. Maybe I got ahead of myself. Whatever the case I learned a lot in 2008 and much of what I learned I’ll apply to 2009. Hopefully this year will be my ascension to the throne.”

On what may have gone wrong backstage: “I tend to be extremely passionate and very vocal. I’ve had experiences in my life that cause me to be a little more confrontational than the average person.

“You have to pick which hills to die on.

“Sometimes if I’m confronted with an issue, rather than say ‘this isn’t worth it’, I’ll get a little hot headed and speak up and say something that I probably shouldn’t say.

“Although I’m not saying that’s why I’m going through what I’m going through – because in the end it’s a storyline.”

On what happens next: “There’s an old saying that you don’t have to go over to get over – and I think I’m doing well.

“And as of the next airing of Smackdown, there’s a pleasant surprise for everyone regarding MVP.

“I’m turning the corner.”

On Chris Benoit: “In spite of the tragic tragic ending and the unspeakable things that happened with Chris Benoit, he had a huge influence on me both personally and professionally.

“I can attribute a lot of my success to the interest he took in me.”

On the Royal Rumble: “I really don’t know who will win, there isn’t any sort of vibe backstage. We’re all speculating.

“You’ve got so many guys that can win it, could win it and should win it – so it’s really wide open right now.”

Its good that MVP can see the error of his ways and i hope that the losing streak was WWE's way of bringing him back down to earth a little if his ego was getting out of control.
The streak it seems has resulted in a face turn for MVP which will hopefully see him get a renewed push.
Id like to see him go a similar route to Cena with maybe a second US Title run before being moved on in to the main event picture.
A Mania match with Shelton for the US title sounds good.

Quote In an interview with with ThisIsNottingham.co.uk, SmackDown Superstar MVP explained why it took him so long to be a star.

"It was just a matter of paying my dues along the way. You have to keep in mind that WWE is the best of the best within professional wrestling and you can't just crack in those ranks straight away. You have to learn and perfect your craft. And it takes a while to do that, to compete at that level. And I'm glad that I didn't come in straight away because when I did come in, it meant I could make an impact right away."

The United States Champion was also asked whether the money in WWE is better than in armed robbery.

"(Laughs) Oh yeah absolutely," MVP said. "You know I tell people all the time that now I'm making more money than I've ever legally made in my life. The beautiful part is I don't have to look over my shoulder or worry about anybody kicking my door in and coming to collect me at two in the morning."

* A very diplomatic answer to his losing streak. Management will be so proud of him.

* He's happy with his money....I wonder how much he makes. Last year he probably made around $500,000 at a guess.

* He's right about learning his craft. If you get thrown in too soon you can end up looking green.

^ Ha, well said.

I like MVP, and i really think he deserved to win MITB this year. That being said, at least he has a good attitude towards not winning it.

Quote While plugging the annual Tribute to the Troops show during a radio appearance on The Opie & Anthony Show last week, Raw Superstar Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) admitted his fondness for marijuana.

During the radio show appearance, he relayed a story from his recent trip to Iraq where one of the soldiers noted that a lot of marijuana is grown in Afghanistan. He then expressed his disappointment in WWE not going to Afghanistan this year.

MVP also said that while he enjoys smoking pot, he no longer does because the $2,500 fines started to stack up.

MVP then told story about doing a tryout match for TNA and that a "washed-up wrestler" came up to him and told him he was sitting in his seat. He sensed the guy was looking to pick a fight, so he he got up and punched him in the face. When asked who it was, he said that his name rhymes with Maven.

He was also asked about ring rats and said he got into the business 10 years too late because there are no longer women waiting in the hotels after shows. MVP blames this on Vince McMahon putting on a PG show.

* First wrestler to admit to getting fined because of their love of pot.

* Slags off the boss for the stupid PG rating ruining his chances with the ladies.

* Punched Raven in the face too. What a great interview LOL
