Quote Matt Hardy suffered a 7 inch gash last night at the SmackDown tapings in Kansas City that required 35 stitches. Hardy was giving Rey Mysterio a splash mountain when Rey's knee brace caught him in the head. Hardy was bleeding a lot and the show had to be stopped to change the mat because of the blood. At this point, his status for this weekend's Cyber Sunday is unknown.

Why do I picture Phoenix reading this with a smirk on her Kiwi face haha. Was it his fault or that of Rey? Should Matt have executed it better or was Rey to blame for not moving his knee out of the way? Either way, Matt is surely going to think twice before having another go at it on Rey. That's a pretty bad head injury and it's going to be interesting to see tomorrow night just how much blood we see. Hopefully he's alright for this sunday night.

Admin, I don't wish injury upon any wrestler, not even Matt Hardy. Sounds like it was a particularly nasty injury too, but I agree with Phyl that it probably wasn't anyone's fault. Things like this happen. Hopefully Matt's head will heal up quick so he's not out too long.

Matt Hardy, who was injured at Tuesday night’s SmackDown tapings, will work his match against MVP at this weekend’s Cyber Sunday pay-per-view. As I reported this morning, Hardy received a deep gash to his head that took 35 stitches to close.
yeah i saw that it was like a horror movie and you could see rey was upset, weather it was anyones fault or not you know rey checked up on his buddy afterwards. thats was a deep gash, i didnt see it had anything to do with the knee brace though, matt hardy had him up, and rey reversed it, and you could see hardys head just smash straight down into the mat, then blood was everywhere lol. at the end of the match, the ring was covered in blood, matt was dazed and had a hell of a crimson mask on, and finly was walking backwards down the ramp with blood all over his arms and chest like he just killed someone.
Qouth the draven, nevermore.

That kinda reminds me when Batista opened Kennedy up with the steel steps on a PPV.

I think it was Royal Rumble but I don't remember at all.

And plus that match wasn't called off Matt and MVP won the match.

I thought it happened when Rey hit the leg drop on him.

But I'm glad MVP finished the match and I also hope that Cyber Sunday won't end up like SummerSlam 2005.

"Aww Boogs it has been so long without you.

How are you doing my love.

You have got to know I love you.

You were so supportive of me and stood right there with me.

Summerslam 2005? Forigve me, but I don't follow the reference.
As for the gash. Yeah, it wa something to see. It was good to see Matt continue with the match and use it to help sell the moves of his opponents. I hate it when something like that happens and suddenly the opponents ignore the injury. Matt trusted the people in the ring to help take care of him enough to let them exploit the injury. Classic. It would  have been nice to see Cena do the same thing and put Kennedy over in that match.

Matt Hardy didn't work Cyber Sunday tonight. Fans had to vote between Kane, The Great Khali and Mark Henry for his replacement.

And thank God, they chose Kane.

Matt Hardy’s face was made up to look worse than it was on last night’s pay-per-view. While the real injury did cause some bruising under one eye, it was not near as bad as it looked during his backstage segment with MVP. However, the stitches that Hardy had to receive because of the injury were very real and were the reason he was pulled off of the pay-per-view.
yeah, i thought hardy looked alot worse, i mean i knew he would have stiches in his head and i know what that looks like up close, and i expected a little bruising, but it looked like someone just beat the hell out of him hours before the scene lol.

Quote from wwe.com:

TAMPA, Fla. – SmackDown Superstar Matt Hardy underwent an emergency appendectomy at a Tampa area hospital tonight. Doctors expect the surgery to keep Hardy out of action anywhere from 1-3 months.

An appendectomy by definition is the removal of the appendix from the lower right area of the abdomen. Oftentimes, if the surgery is not performed immediately, severe consequences can follow.

Hardy’s emergency surgery comes less than a week after suffering a knee injury at the hands of his former partner, the United States Champion MVP. Did the attack by MVP help lead to the appendectomy that Hardy underwent tonight?

Well Matt missed Survivor Series because of a genuine injury, which is a shame, as that would have been a good payday for him. The reason for the MVP beating on Smackdown, was probably because they had to write him out for a while. Matt hasn't had the best couple of months and has been taking some knocks. This surgery will give him time to heel, which wrestlers don't get much chance to do. I hope he's back soon, but I don't know if he will be seen again this year now. Maybe build up his big return for the Rumble match.
