As much as I am happy that the Broken gimmick is finally being allowed to be used by Matt Hardy I am not a fan of this feud, we need a match or 2 between these two and we need it soon because I don't think I can wait until the royal rumble for these two to clash.

I'm hoping that with Woken Matt we will soon see the return of Brother Nero

It was poor on Raw with them again using bright instead of dull lighting for Matt and him not turning up live.

Quote John Cena Sr., father of WWE veteran John Cena, recently spoke with Boston Wrestling Sports for an interview and had plenty to say about WWE dusting off the "Broken" Matt Hardy character and putting the "Woken" spin on the name.

"Been there. Done that. Let's move on," Cena Sr. said of the gimmick returning on WWE television recently. "It might start a little bit of a fire in WWE, I give it 30 days, 45 days, before it gets watered on, and the 'Woken' becomes broken."

Cena Sr. also shared his belief that the character lacks long-term appeal in WWE and that Hardy's feud with Bray Wyatt isn't cutting it with the fans.

"I think [WWE is] building that feud up. I feel so bad, because it's just not the right time," Cena Sr. said. "It's not the thing to do. The gimmick- here's the thing, everybody wanted more frosting on the cake. Finally, Vince [McMahon], WWE, the writers go 'Okay, we're gonna give you more frosting on the cake,' and what's the first thing that happens when you first bite the cake? 'Too [much] sweetness, too much frosting on the cake. I don't like it!' And that's exactly what's gonna to happen. I make the prediction here and now, the 'Woken' is gonna be broken."

According to Cena Sr., the fact that the news regarding the issues between Impact Wrestling, WWE and Hardy was so public isn't going to help the chances of the "Woken" gimmick working this time around.

"I don't think it's going to help anybody, I really don't," Cena Sr. replied. "I think Matt has kind of made a mistake, because what worked before, might not necessarily work again. And the fans were so agitated by Impact Wrestling and what's been done, it's kind of like, they've heard so much about it now, it's kind of sour. It's more frosting on the cake, but it's too sweet."

He's saying to move on about the gimmick, yet for over a decade his own son has done the same old stale babyface gimmick with no tweaks.

Yes the gimmick might not work or the fued, but it's still early days and I suspect a big moment to happen between them that we haven't yet seen.

The gimmick isn't the problem (except for the overuse of the laugh) the feud with Bray Wyatt is the issue.

Bray hasn't been the same since he lost the WWE title to Orton back at WrestleMania and you can see it in the matches he has, before he was putting on pretty good matches now everything seems to be phoned in to an extent, even his promos are more or less the same thing and I don't know if that's him or if WWE decided to put a leash on him in regards to his promos.

As for Woken Matt I think once the feud is done with Bray we will see a lot more of what Woken Matt has to offer and soon the return of Brother Nero the team I can see both Hardyz being contenders for the Universal title hell I even see Woken Matt winning the Universal title if only for a short time.

I can only disagree. Wyatt is pretty much the only competitor that a Broken Matt Hardy can feud with. Writing a 'underdog isn't taken seriously then wins decisively' storyline doesn't work with a WWE crowd because WWE crowds are the smarkiest of all. We're essentially just watching another Eugene. At least he has an opponent that can fit in his world.

Did you really just compare Hardy with Eugene LOL that has to go down as quote of the year there.

Good comparison though really, in other words a character that it is hard to find opponents for because they need to be able to work within the confines of his bizarre gimmick.

Bray was the obvious choice due to the similarities between the characters and the promo style.

I think the problem here is it just feels like they are dragging things out, something needs to happen, I can see them getting a couple of PPV matches out of this feud, perhaps a standard match at the Royal Rumble then a House of Horrors/Wyatt Compound/Final Deletion match at the next Raw event.

Eugene could work with anyone given his gimmick though as he imitated he's favourite wrestlers. Woken Matt can also work with anyone as a character as his promos will just be tweaked to the opponent he's facing so yeah I don't see the comparison to be honest.

If anything they probably did the wrong thing in having it be Hardy vs Wyatt as the first feud, this is something they should have built longer term towards and then had it short and sharp.

What would have been better is if they started the gimmick in January instead of late December so that way people wouldn't get tired of it since the match at the Rumble if there is a match that is won't look so dragged out.

WWE need to clam the laugh though using it too much is not going to get over it's just get annoying its good in small doses not for 2 minute long segment.

Based on Raw - this is one of the worst storylines ive ever seen

All they do is stand laughing at each other all the time - its fucking ridiculous

The segment on Raw was terrible and Matt's character gets more ridiculous each week. When he first appeared as 'Woken' Matt the character was fresh and for a brief moment was interesting and entertaining, but in a short time the novelty has worn off and Matt just doing that dumb laugh and grinning like a idiot spouting complete gibberish is just silly, this feud isn't doing anything for Wyatt either.

Seems to be a case of another gimmick from outside WWE that they can't make work.
