See? That is my point. I WAS going there. That is why I say she isn't that great and that there is plenty of room for the bar to be raised higher.

She IS top notch at a few aspects of being a heel, but she is really bad at others. I'm not judging her by the standard of "for a woman" but as an on screen performer in general.

I think we are bringing about two different points that are probably not really the topic we wanted to bring about. Because I am confused.

I'm basing off the generalization that she is the most hated superstar in well over the last decade, and i've covered wrestling in a public spot like with many lives streams, podcasts and talk shows over the years and held many voter polls and she is almost always at the top of the list.

If I am trying to understand your stance, it looks like you are critiquing her career, which is not what I was doing.

But I am not one to go off topic. I do not see Lana getting no where any heat as the others. Regardless of what they plan for her.

What you said was:

I'm saying that while you may be right, she sets a relatively low standard when you look at the bigger picture of pro wrestling as a whole.

The women of today's era which most certainly includes Lana, could easily top Stephanie not only as a heel, but in the business in general. That's why I brought up Manami Toyota, because IMO she is the GOAT as far as women are concerned, and I don't think Asuka is very far down the list from there.

Stephanie is not untouchable least of all as a heel because she is so domineering that whoever the babyface is never gets a word in edgewise during promos. As soon as they start to make a point and get the crowd behind them she cuts them off, and while that's highly effective at getting her heat, at no point in time should ANYONE forget that the entire point of a heel is to get the babyface over. She is miserable at that. In that very specific aspect she is about as bad a heel as you can hope to find.

And I'm not trying to throw Stephanie under the bus either. You can tell she was born and raised in the business and you can tell she has a ton of experience. When it comes to staging, when it comes to working a crowd, when it comes time that she finally understands she has to put someone over, very few man or woman does it better.

As for Lana

Someone like Lana needs to look to Stephanie the character as inspiration as as these gimmicks are quite alike when you take away the job title of the two gimmicks. Yes, one is a spoiled bosses daughter in charge of the company, and the other is a ballet teacher, but aside from that the two gimmicks are the same.

I have been reading about how Lana was known for her parts in other movies and it always ends up sounding like critics think she is a valuable asset to the company. Maybe at some point in time she will be, too. I'd never heard of her before she debuted on Raw. But to hear some people talk, Lana has the ability to be quite a star, but if Stephanie is the standard bearer, and, by your own words the greatest heel in the last 15 years by a wide margin and the complete package, then if Lana is as talented as some people I hear elsewhere (not on these forums, but on Facebook groups and YouTube and such) then overcoming Stephanie as a heel shouldn't be tough.

If however people are confusing effective heel work with heat garnered from the fact that she is in some ways very bad at her job and just enjoying the privileges of nepotism then Lana has "no chance in hell" at ever being more effective a heel than Stephanie.

Sorry for not being more clear. I tend to be quite casual here at TUP and sometimes I get lazy with my posts. I hope this helps clear up any confusion about my point.

I think Lana can be a good heel, but I seriously doubt her wrestling ability, but if all she has to do is be better than Stephanie, I think Lana and many of the women on the roster today, particularly Charlotte can do better at being the complete package. It is just too early to say for most of these women because their careers are so young where as Stephanie is a 20 year vet thus making comparisons tricky.

For me Steph doesnt set a bar at all, unless you count making people vomit everytime she appears as some sort of 'talent'. Sick

Was it Dave Botchtista who said she was still better though and more important than Triple H, and that if it hadnt been for him marrying the boss' daughter he wouldnt have had any of the push hes had since 1999. And we all know thats correct of course!

Finally she debuts but I think fans prefer her in business suits not dresses that go to the floor LOL

She got a good pop and came across as a babyface with her pop, chants and how she got in the face of the babyface champion so wasn't cowardly.

Watching her storm off after being laughed at was quite funny too.

She's been put in the 5 way match...why oh why? Oh yeah that's right they won't leave her off the card, but they'll leave Naomi and Carmella off Thumbs Down

She is the newest member of The Welcoming Committee stable, it was rather random putting her in.
