Quote Kurt Angle and Baron Corbin are backstage, and Baron is saying Kurt is making tag teams implode. They briefly argue before Finn Balor walks in. Balor complains about Lesnar not being active, and Corbin says Balor should stop complaining because he knows he would come up short against Lesnar. Strowman interrupts next and he's got his briefcase. Strowman wants more opponents and he wants to try being Kevin Owens' friend. It sounds like we have a tag match for later: Braun Strowman & Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor & Baron Corbin.

Anyone else agree we will see a match between them down the line? Baron winds up Kurt for months, before Angle gets the match win as revenge.

You could have them on the same Raw team for a traditional Survivor Series match, with the match not long after.

Kurt's body would be looked after because Baron wrestles a safe style of zero risks.

Its a match i could see happening however i dont see Angle having that many more matches in his career and id expect a match with Corbin would only happen if he wanted to get rid of the ring rust in preparation for another big match.

I like Corbin in this new role and it would be great if he got a match with HHH or someone out of it to try and establish him as the big star WWE clearly wants him to be

Quote Bobby Roode and Chad Gable are backstage talking to Kurt Angle. Angle is dressed like he's on vacation, and Kurt says his stress level is way down. Roode and Gable walk off to their locker room. No Way Jose dances by with his conga line, and Angle briefly joins in. Baron Corbin walks in and gets in Kurt's face. Corbin points out that it's been 12 years since Kurt's last singles match, so he booked a warm-up match for Kurt tonight. Kurt says he didn't bring his gear, but Corbin tells him to figure something out, because Kurt's in a handicap match against the Authors of Pain.

The Conquistador is in the ring now, presumably with Kurt Angle inside the suit.

- The Authors of Pain vs. Kurt Angle: This one is a two-on-one handicap match. Baron Corbin comes out to the stage to watch. The Authors double team Angle early on, and then Rezar clotheslines him down. The Authors hit a double team suplex/powerbomb for the three count.

Winners: Authors of Pain

- After the match, the Authors unmask the conquistador, and it's some unknown guy. Corbin gets up from his seat on the stage, and then the real Kurt Angle runs out and gives Corbin and Olympic Slam on the stage. Kurt poses for the fans on the stage before leaving.

You could use their names to describe the fued because this has been a baron angle so far.

Why would Kurt as a babyface refuse to wrestle and put someone else in harms way?

Looks like we are going to get some old school dorky Kurt in the run up to Survivor Series, where they should have their expected 5 on 5 to be the GM.

he shouldn't have answered Mahal's open challenge, and by doing so, he should have lost.

why is Angle not in a feud with Corbin? it's surely at least time he joins up with Braun and they both take on Corbin and McIntyre?

I know Mahal only became champ to gain the most publicity they could from the India tour and event, but he could still be a decent fringe player, switching between the Universal title and the IC title as and when needed.

Quote Kurt Angle comes out to the ring next and gets on the mic. Kurt thanks the McMahon family for giving him one last shot to compete at WrestleMania, and to pick his own opponent. Kurt says out of everyone, there's only one person left he wants to beat - and it's the man who's made his life a living hell since he came back as RAW GM - Baron Corbin.

- Kurt Angle vs. Chad Gable: Gable and Angle shake hands before the opening bell. Gable trips up Angle, but Angle comes back with a belly to belly overhead suplex. Gable fights back and trades holds with Angle on the mat. Gable starts working over Angle's knee. Angle comes back and dumps Gable outside, allowing himself to recover. Back in the ring, Angle looks for the ankle lock, but Gable escapes. Angle looks for a German suplex, but Gable escapes that too and puts Kurt in the ankle lock. They grapple back and forth, and Gable misses a moonsault attempt and Angle capitalizes with the ankle lock. Gable taps out for the finish.

 Winner: Kurt Angle

After the match, Baron Corbin comes out and cuts a promo on Kurt, saying he's looking forward to ending Kurt's career at WrestleMania.

- We go backstage where Baron Corbin is talking to The Revival. Apollo Crews approaches him and asks him for a match. Corbin resists, but Crews keeps pushing him for an answer. Crews says no one likes Corbin. Corbin says The Revival likes him, but they say hell no.

Is this match actually going to be the last we see Kurt in? It's surely going to change in the next few weeks?

E booked the heel tag champs to put down Corbin and during his match later in the show Cole brought up fans online not happy with Baron being picked to face Kurt last.

E don't like bringing up negativity, which makes me think this storyline is leading to an opponent change in the next three weeks.

Horrible choice for what is being billed as the final match of Angles hall of fame career. It's no surprise there's been a huge fan backlash to the announcement of the match.

Reports have suggested Corbin was always the plan for this and that Kurt is also not happy about it as like the fans he wanted a more marquee match.

Part of me wonders if Vince holds some resentment toward Kurt for spending so much of his career in TNA and only returned to WWE for a hall of fame induction by which point his best in ring years were over, that may also explain why Kurt has been mostly booked as a enhancement talent since his return losing the majority of his matches clean and only recently getting a few wins over low card talent which is clearly only happening to build his Wrestlemania match.

I guess it's possible WWE see this as a way to make Corbin, a guy they are clearly very high on, but to me he's just a bland generic big guy heel, kind of like a modern day Barbarian or Warlord.

I guess it's also possible they want Kurt to win his final match and that Corbin was only guy out of the talent not already booked at Mania that WWE were willing to feed to him, but I'm sure Kurt would rather lose and have a better calibre of opponent.

Storyline wise it makes sense that Kurt can finally get revenge on being screwed out of the GM role etc

Kurt Angle is my favourite wrestler of all time and i have no problem with this being his final match.

If anyone is expecting Kurt to be able to go out there and hang with Bryan or Styles in a 30 min iron man classic at this point in his career then you are deluded.

We argue that the older guys should put some of the new blood over and maybe they have plans for Corbin and feel this would benefit his career OR maybe they think Corbin is someone who could be a genuine threat to angle but if he was to lose, wouldnt actually lose anything long term out of it.

Nobody is expecting Angle to put on the kind of show he did in his prime, but it's been proven time and time again that with the right opponent in a one off scenario on  a big stage a ageing veteran talent can still have a great match, and I just don't think Corbin will give Angle that, and that's not even the real issue here it's more that fans feel robbed of one more big Kurt Angle match and instead we are getting some low card offering that nobody really cares about.

WWE are trying with Corbin but fans are not buying him as anything more than a typical cowardly mid card heel act.

I do wonder if this is all a set up for a bigger match for Kurt, After all John Cena still isn't booked in a match and his career did begin with Kurt Angle and Kurt would then go on to play a important part in Cena's rise to main event stardom, so he would be a very fitting opponent.

There is a lot of talk about this somehow morphing into an Angle vs Cena match, but I'm skeptical on that... I wouldn't complain if it came to pass though.

Quote  WWE fans have expressed their displeasure with Baron Corbin facing Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35. The reason for that is due to it being Angle’s final match. Well, as a result of the backlash from fans, WWE is rumored to be reconsidering the match.

WrestleVotes wrote the following:
WrestleVotes@WrestleVotes From a source: Angle vs Corbin is being “reconsidered”. WWE did not expect this type of negative reaction, and thus, they don’t want such a negative feel to Kurt’s final match

Baffles me that WWE didn't expect this reaction, Kurt is a legend in this business and in his prime worked some of the best matches ever seen, did they really think fans would be happy with his big send off match opponent being Baron Corbin, a man who so far has been nothing short of mediocre.

It's bad enough that since returning to the WWE ring Kurt has been used mostly as a veteran jobber, disappointing when you think fans had waited years for him to return and had a long list of dream matches for Kurt, none of which have happened.

WWE should scrap the Corbin match and give Angle someone like Cena, Joe, Mysterio, Andrade, Balor even Lashley, or even a heel turn for someone like Apollo Crewes I could get behind. Just please not Corbin.
