  • Kairi Hojo of Stardom has agreed to a three-year contract with WWE and is expecting to leave Japan for WWE around April to join the NXT women's division.

  • The backstage rumor is that Shinsuke Nakamura has been pushing for her to come to NXT for several months and she has flip flopped on her decision before now finally telling Stardom officials that she's going.

  • This is a huge blow for Stardom and the company feels they were misled through the entire ordeal. Hojo currently has two titles with the promotion and they want her to drop the titles before she leaves.
Ricoooo you're our female specialist, who is she and what can she do haha.

Man I am just seeing this now. I'll look her up when I finish watching NXT.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm not especially blown away by Pirates Kaiser (Hojo's gimmick-name) but it looks pretty good really.
She's got some good looking spots. She seems far more aerial than mat based, which I suppose is a good contrast to Asuka, but TBH I'd rather someone a bit more stiff.
So after all that speculation about how Hojo wouldn't be allowed to use the elbow drop because "That's Bayley's move" she performed the move last night during the first round of tournament tapings. I guess that answers that question.
I don't really see anything to complain about with Kairi, but honestly? I like Kana/Asuka better, a lot better. WWE is going to have to be careful about how they talk about Kairi, or they could end up creating an environment among the casual fans where an either/or attitude is taken between the two, and I think that would be a big mistake. I can see that many people are hyped for Kairi's run in the WWE, and I think that's great, but I don't want to see her run damage Asuka's in any way, or the other way around. WWE need to make sure to compare and contrast the two in such a way that fans see that there is room on the roster for not just one, not two, but many Japanese women.
Quite frankly I'm not really sold on Kairi just yet, maybe that'll change as I see more matches from her, but I've seen some from Io Shirai that I've loved to death, and many more from Kana, especially against Meiko Satomura (Osaka Triple Tails). Kairi is much more graceful and aerial in her assault, whereas Kana is far more ground based, stiff and filled with a mocking attitude in everything she does. Kana doesn't have that one move where you just wait all match to see it so you can pop like crazy, instead you look forward to seeing her counter some basic move in some crazy way that makes you go: "holy shit how did she do that!?!?" Kairi has that elbow drop that is arguably the best one since Randy Savage, and I've also see her do a back flip into a double foot stomp from the top rope that IMO is even better than than her elbow drop. Kairi and Asuka are so different, and I LOVE that. I hope the average joe wrestling fan sees that too, and doesn't think that now that Kairi is here, Asuka must go.
It's for that reason, that I really hope that WWE do NOT run with Kairi vs Asuka right out of the gates, for example as Kairi taking the NXT women's championship from Asuka. I hope one goes to Raw, the other to Smackdown, and each holds a title, and THEN perhaps a WrestleMania, or some PPV like Bragging Rights where it's Raw vs Smackdown that the two meet for a match.
Conversely, I since Kenta is about to leave the WWE I hope we get to see a Hideo Itami vs Shinsuke Nakamura strong style match to send Kenta off with a good showing.
So Kairi debuted this week. Maybe it was just because she was in the ring with Nooph/Aliya but that match wasn't all good.
Sorry but I am not finding a lot to like from her yet.
