It’s amazing to me how they didn’t pull the trigger on this match years ago. To me, Cena is better now than he was around the time this match probably should’ve happened (between 2007 and 2011). If you have current Cena vs. Taker of as recent as five years ago, it would’ve been great. Will still be a spectacle regardless and that being said, I hope Taker isn’t making a mistake doing one more round if he is as much pain as he looked and sounded to be in on the 24 Network Special.

Quote John Cena comes down to the ring and gets on the mic. Cena says he gave 100% last night at Fastlane, but couldn't get the job done. Cena brings up WrestleMania and the crowd starts chanting for Undertaker, and Cena says he hopes the people backstage hear that. Cena says he won't be contributing to WrestleMania this year, but he will be there. Cena says his road to WrestleMania is now the same as anyone else's, because he's going as a fan. Cena talks about the WWE Universe being important to WrestleMania, and says he's going to the show to have fun, and may end up sitting next to anyone who goes. Cena jumps the fan barricade and gets in the middle of some fans, and says he could end up sitting next to any of them at WrestleMania. Cena joins in one some fan chants. He gets back in the ring and tells the fans to get their "Cena sucks" chants out of their systems, since he won't be there. Cena says he could do something right now that he's not supposed to do, and it could change his road to WrestleMania. Cena says he's going to do it -- and he looks in the camera and challenges The Undertaker to a match at WrestleMania. He says he doesn't know if the WWE executives have a problem with the match, so he repeats the challenge a few times to see if they cut his mic off. Cena says it's not WWE executives preventing the match - it's The Undertaker. Cena tells The Undertaker to get over his own ego, and to stop hiding his head in the sand. Cena says Undertaker is hiding behind lame excuses, and calls him a conceited egomaniac. Cena says the fans want the match, and the ball is in Undertaker's court. Cens says if he was Undertaker he'd want one more match, then he heads to the back.

Bringing up the Instagram of Michelle McCool was.....Cool.....But that was about it.

There is no bad blood between them, so why should we care about it?

Taker isn't saying anything or showing up and so Roman should probably hate on him more for turning up even less than Lesnar.

Quite honestly, I really like the idea of Cena being a fan, and the jealousy and bitterness of not being on the show eating at him as it progresses.

I would have SO MUCH MORE fun watching Cena come to ringside with some coke and popcorn before the Reigns vs Lesnar match and towards the end, have him throw both the coke and popcorn in the ring boo and walk away and then at the end of the match, when Reigns is celebrating his win, Cena runs back, slides in and lays out Roman and just beats the shit out him AND Lesnar. Send in Triple H, and other top guys like Angle, Vince, Shane, Bryan, Arn, Malenko, Jamie Noble, etc. and have Cena just take every last one of them out in a fit of rage. Maybe at some point have a plant in the crowd holding some kind of "we love Cena" sign, and have him rip it from his hands and tear it apart and throw it back at him. Then just fade to black as he's in the ring among a bunch of bodies leaning over the ropes towards the fans cussing them out.

But no, let's give him a 55 year old Undertaker who can't do shit anymore. That'll be entertaining.

Just about everything in the promo was heelish.......

1) He made out Undertaker isn't broken down.

2) One of the three things Cena is supposedly about is respect, but he showed none of it.

Taker is being picked one when he isn't suppose to want to wrestle again. By bringing up his wife i'm thinking he will return as American Badass so they can say last year all they did was retire the Deadman character.

I got the same vibes from it

I'm hoping upon hope that he goes to the Thuganomics gimmick for this feud

Thuganomics vs American Badass would be kinda cool. Cena just needs to turn heel. The time has come, no one is depending on him doing anything. He's obsolete (saying that makes me want to see him get deleted by Matt Hardy) and now more than ever before could use something big to change things up. He's not carrying the company and turning heel will only help him in Hollywood so he can point to how different he CAN be if given the opportunity. IMO he is a natural douche bag and his hero persona is just an act, so showing how he can play a bad guy in movies and make people hate him works. I mean really what's he going to do? Help Roman Reigns get more make-a-wish requests? Turn his ass heel, it's time.

On the latest episode of E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness, WWE Hall Of Famer Adam "Edge" Copeland spoke at length about John Cena's promo on RAW challenging The Undertaker to a match at WrestleMania 34.

According to the "Rated-R Superstar," Cena's promo style came off as "hokey."

"The John Cena promo, I thought it was pretty hokey," Edge said. "I'm not going to lie. It was cool at some points, but then it was very… I don't know, just a very hokey delivery. And I know that's Cena's schtick sometimes, but it just didn't feel like this was the moment or the opponent for that, I think. That was my gut when I first watched it. Yeah, I don't know."

Edge continued, "I think that's a huge, massive match and I'm glad the crowd reacted the way they did and I didn't even mind the going into the crowd thing, like, the way they're setting this up like if he doesn't have this match, or he doesn't have this match, or he doesn't have this match, he'll go and pay to sit in the audience. I guess it was just when it got to talking about The Undertaker stuff, it just didn't feel quite as… I don't know. I don't even know how to put my finger on it. I guess it's just sometimes it's kind of hokey delivery can kind of work, but in that instance, it just didn't work for me."

He did, however, go on to make sure everyone knows he could change his mind about everything as time goes on. He struggled through trying to explain what specifically was off about the promo.

"I mean, John never sounds like he's at a loss for words," said Edge. "It's a good promo. I don't know. I guess it's just the tone of it. I don't know. I don't know even how to put my finger on it. That just feels like one of those promos that should be nothing but serious, I guess. I don't know. I don't know. I'd have to watch it again, obviously. I could completely backtrack on everything I'm saying right now, but my gut was like, 'huh, that was odd.' Yeah, but they'll have such an iconic match. But we called it, brother-brother! I don't know if it'll be career vs. career like I think it should be."

Check out the complete episode of E&C's Pod Of Awesome featuring Edge's comments about John Cena's promo at Art19.com.

I agree with that as he was chatting a load of shit that was out of character and didn't make sense.

Cena said so many dumb pieces that if you were to choose the worse it would be difficult.

Maybe saying Taker isn't broken down, or that he'd have to buy a seat for the show like he wouldn't at the very least get in the jobber battle royal.

I didn't see anything wrong with the promo, I'm still on the fence about how I feel about the match because as much as I would like to see this match I'm concerned about Taker's ability to perform during the match he was hurting pretty bad last year we could all see that and it hurt the match he and Roman had quite a bit.

Taker has to win this one though I don't see any reason why Cena would need the win I see no need for it let Taker go out a winner with a record 24-2 instead of 23-3.

Agreed. Taker at this rate won't show up until Wrestlemania and if that happens it's obvious he's going to win. Imagine him booked to be ripped into for weeks, he finally shows up and he loses. Not going to happen.

Loved seeing Kane. Instead of a pointless showing, it actually made storyline sense and sticking up for his brother was good.

Next week though Cena will win their match and then SURELY we get some type of response from The Undertaker.

The match is more of a dream match than Styles Nakamura in my opinion, however this should have happened at least 5 years ago.

Cena may have said aload of crap in his promos but im sure he can be cut some slack given hes been one of the best on the mic for ten years plus

I still think we can get an entertaining match out of these 2 and I'd love for American Badass Taker to make an appearance
