I said that as well on another thread Fletch.
I like it when they parade the new number 1 contender in the ring for a bit, and then they 'shock' us and bring out the current champion to have a stare down in the ring. But to do that and change the subject all of a sudden to his match with Wyatt and turn his back on Mahal was appalling.

#donthinderJinder I am elated at the push that he's receiving. Whether or not WWE sustains that is a different story. I hope they build around this new stable of Mahal and the Bollywood Boys.

Yeah it was horrible instead of building the rivalry between Orton and Mahal they completely dismissed Jinder while he had to stand there awkwardly in the ring while they turned all the attention to Wyatt. Really dumb booking.

Ryan Satin just confirmed what i thought about this whole situation. This temporary push for the main event is supposed to help with him being a stronger contender in the mid card instead of jobbing. They intend to keep him as the leader of a 3 man stable through the rest of 2017. expect them to mainly be the antagonists to The New Day.

That's fine though. Moving him up to a high mid-card/ occasional main event talent spot is still far better than his previous status. At least it's allowing him the opportunity to cut his teeth as a upper tier talent and also puts a new stable on Smackdown. It's all good as far as I'm concerned.

It remains to be seen what they do with Mahal and if he can keep it going beyond the 'push' hes going to get. But whoever set this ridiculous set of events up for the mini draft before the Payback ppv wants a slap.

Mahal and the Bollywood boys did some good tonight. Very impressed. Unlike Raw, they made a story out of it tonight.

Quote As heavily covered here on eWn, the reason why Jinder Mahal has been pushed to the main event spot is due to WWE’s expansion to India and the WWE Shop website for India beginning its launch.

In addition, The Wrestling Observer is reporting that another reason why WWE is OK with having Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship as the main event for WWE Backlash is because of the change of the PPV’s model from “Pay-Per-View” to “WWE Network Special”. If fans had to pay $50+ to watch Backlash which has a lesser-attractive main event, the draw would be low but since the cost to watch is only $9.99 WWE feels less pressure and feels free to experiment with different matches.

It's pathetic that it takes the Network for them to be brave enough to push someone to the main event.

It doesn't show confidence in management or creative that this chance for Jinder has only happened because it's no longer about buyrates.

I hope Jinder continues to impress so even when his Randall fued is over he stays in the top tier on Smackdown.

It's a low risk, high reward strategy so who really cares? If he does well they'll give him more pay days, if he doesn't it's no loss to them. All new ME guys need to start somewhere.

I think its off to a bad start. It was the right move to put him in there with Zayn but, it was probably one of the worse matches Zayn has had since coming up to the main roster which doesn't shine too well for Jinder. Stiff as hell also, can put the Balor one down to bad luck but, I can see it being a regular thing.

Doesn't help he's going into a title program with the most boring face champion of the decade as well.
All Hail Mitchell Johnson and David Warner.

This time last week The Taz Show was debating if Jinder got the title far too early or not.

Mike Johnson from PWInsider argued that he got it too soon after his jobber history.

Taz argued four weeks is enough time to make even a jobber look a legit title contender so he likes it.

I am more on the side of Mike Johnson. I'm glad they are trying to make a new star but slow build it for him. Give him a midcard push, then a midcard title run and then the main event picture instead of going from 3MB to released to the title not long after being back.

I don't mind it, in at the deep end or slow build people still would have argued that based on his jobber background it's not right.

I'm just happy to see a fresh face as a headliner and Jinder has clearly worked hard to make sure he looks the part. He's a effective heel character and is pretty solid on the mic it's just in the ring in a main event setting where he really needs to prove himself.
