The forearm shot was an accident. He has no heat with anyone but the fans. His push was planned a few weeks in advanced.

He is being pushed because WWE is doing a campaign in India soon and they want advanced marketing before heading there for shows. He is paired up with the Bollywood boys to help the campaign. India is a very large populated country and they want to open up more there since WWE has lost their Philippines market.

Yeah they are pushing him to raise their profile in India, I only see this push being very short term and then he will revert back to jobbing duties once they have concluded their business in India.

Moving forward I see Mahal being used much like The Great Khali was in that he's mainly a enhancement talent but will occasionally be pushed a bit harder when it makes sense geographically and will be the poster boy for the Indian market.

I think he could be a long term decent prospect so I have to disagree with views that see his push as a short term thing.

His gimmick benefits from the western clothes, staying away from his old stuff as a racial stereotype.

He also gets an hard time of it from people thinking he's on the roids, so pissing over the hard work he's put in to get so ripped.

His push will end well before Summerslam.

Quote As covered here on eWn, Jinder Mahal won a six-pack challenge to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship at Backlash. Many of fans wondered out of Sami Zayn, Luke Harper & Dolph Ziggler who were also in the match, why Jinder Mahal after he reportedly gave Finn Balor a concussion on last week’s Monday Night RAW?

According to SportsKeeda, the reason WWE is currently pushing Jinder Mahal is because of the company’s expansion plans in India. India is reported to be one of WWE’s “hungriest” markets for the product and will take whatever the company can give them. WrestlingNewsco. also reported that WWE hired former employee of Walt Disney India, Sheetesh Srivastava as their GM and VP of WWE offices in India.

SportsKeeda also noted that this push is timely as WWE Shop has recently been expanded to India and a great percentage of the gear in that shop will consist of Jinder Mahal’s & the NXT Tag-Team who helped him secure the victory on Smackdown Live, The Bollywood Boyz.

Why can't he just be pushed because he's good in the ring, good at talking and seems a decent person?

I'm sure he's not complaining as a push is still a push. But he probably feels he should be pushed regardless of the India stuff.

Having him heel isn't going to sell as much merchandise in India as he could anyway.

Khali was a heel and they just edited it to make him look good, so they could go that route again. Let WWE milk Mahal & Bollywood Boyz for a couple of months then it'll all die down.

Exactly Admin, it sucks that somebody is getting a push because of a blatant money making idea in another country. So when the Indian thing is over, do we expect him to be dropped like a stone ?
I dont rate him, hes just a Tiger Albert Singh wannabe. (remember him!)

As for The Great Khali that was appalling how long they kept him on and how long he had the title for. as for all the big blokes in the business who couldnt wrestle to save their lives, Khali was the worst as far as I can remember.

I enjoyed his post match promo, good verbal work from Jinder and he was getting some really good heat, I didn't like the way Orton then strolled and out and talked about Bray Wyatt while completely ignoring Mahal who was still stood in the ring.

In unusual for a talent that fans had become accustomed to as a jobber to get elevated this high up the card this quick but that doesn't mean it won't work. They can play on how Jinder has matured is more experienced and has got himself in to better shape etc. Also I do seem to remember a similar thing happening for JBL, one minute he was one half of the APA who were very much a mid-card act at best, he was removed from that and plunged straight in to the World title picture winning the belt straight away, JBL may not have produced many 5 star matches but he made a success of the gimmick and established himself as a top talent.

Ryan Satin just confirmed what i thought about this whole situation. This temporary push for the main event is supposed to help with him being a stronger contender in the mid card instead of jobbing. They intend to keep him as the leader of a 3 man stable through the rest of 2017. expect them to mainly be the antagonists to The New Day.
