There is no subscription, but it is $40 to buy. However you can and will always be able to unlock the heroes for free (though you can buy them too).

I reckon if they want to have any chance of being able to compete with LoL, Smite, HoN and all the other Moba´s out there by now, they will resort to F2P sooner or later.

Heck, there´s even rumors swirling around that ESO will be F2P before too long.

Elder Scrolls Online?

I might play it then. I was expecting a lot more improvement during the beta than actually showed. I still prefer Skyrim with mods over that of ESO.

HotS however is, at this point in beta, more than good enough to take the #2 spot in the MOBA world. They'll have their work cut out for them if they want to take down LOL though.

Yeah. ESO already dropped the monthly subscription fee in favour of a package only price (you can still pay monthly and get benefits for doing so) and now rumors are floating around that they will let you play the game completely for free. Apparently player numbers have been WAY below expectations.

To be honest, even to beat DotA2 (which at the moment, is number 2 in the MOBA world, i would say) is a tall order. Both LoL and Dota2 have firmly entrenched fanbases.... BUT, maybe they can snatch a couple of the "i play any moba" gamers... such as me. (Playing LoL mostly, but also DotA, Dota2, Smite, HoN and Strife)

I'd say it's pretty much signed sealed and delivered that HotS will debut with higher numbers than DOTA(1/2). LOL I would say will go down in time too. At most I'd give it until HotS2 comes out 4-6 years from now, but probably within just a year or so of Blizzard patching the game.

That's just what Blizzard does. They own even genre they enter.

Granted they created 2 of the 3 they're currently dominating, but the MMO genre has been dominated by a game they made 10 years ago.

MOBA? It's just a matter of time.

FPS's on the other hand...

that reminds me I need to make a new thread.
