Quote Source: PWInsider.com

Fans have been wondering what exactly WWE NXT will be since Vince McMahon announced that ECW would end its run on Syfy and be replaced by the "next evolution" of WWE.

The word going around is that the NXT concept will be portrayed as a "reality" based series featuring new wrestlers who viewers will be able to follow inside and outside of the ring. Fans will be able to follow wrestlers from day one and get their personal insight, their background and goals, creating a different sense of deeper insight, etc.

As it stands now, the concept appears similar to WWE's former Tough Enough series with talent not only feuding with each other, but for the opportunity to become the "next" big WWE Superstar and move onto RAW or SmackDown!.

WWE has been pitching different concepts for the series and formalizing plans since the fall, but all signs to point to this concept being the nucleus of NXT.

As of right now, WWE has not decided what to do with the ECW Title. The belt may continue on as some are lobbying to keep the title, but in the end this will be Vince McMahon's decision. Some feel that they should keep the belt so that they can use the title for the undercards of secondary PPVs as an attraction.

Make the show two hours because it's not like the channel has anything worthwhile on it.

Use time for matches, segments and others for real life short features documentary style.

Ohhhhh I can feel the debut of the American Dragon is about a fortnight away Big smile

I know I usually love to critize the 'E, but fair play to them for using a reality based format, sounds like it will genuinly stand out as different to the Raw and Smackdown brands.
Fletch: Why didnt Vince just get a load of monitors to act as lumberjacks? Then Bret wouldnt have stood a chance. That monitor will be inducted in to the HOF at Wrestlemania 30.

Yeah plus you cant really blame them for capitilising on the reality show craze that seems to have a grip on the entire planet, its simply good business to go with what people clearly want to watch.

I actually quite enjoyed the Tough Enough series which Miz was a part of and they actually had the TE guys interacting regularly with WWE talent and doing tasks/competitions on Raw and Smackdown.

Will be interesting and like Grace says at least it will be something different from standard WWE tv, its good news to me at least that the show will revolve completely around new talent from the developmental leagues, I look forward to seeing Bryan Danielson, Brett Dibiase and Joe Hennig.

This sounds awesome.this will be a lot different than the regular wwe stuff you see which I am getting sick of and I love the whole reality deal it will be a good way for the fans to really like and really hate guys by knowing their background.this is good idea by vince and I loved tough enough and I think this would be great for danielson and I can see this help him move up the wwe fan base.

Quote Variety Magazine recently did an in-depth piece on WWE NXT and its reality concept.

The show will "pair up eight of WWE’s current stars with rookies that come from Florida Championship Wrestling".

It appears that they'll be breaking Kayfabe a lot more than first thought. The article continues, "WWE has long kept that a secret from fans, opting to produce shows that turn its athletes into colorful characters involved in over-the-top storylines. But “NXT” will have pros mentoring rookies, with egos often getting in the way, as they learn the ropes of competing in the ring in front of live audiences, creating characters and speaking on camera."

There will be several seasons a year where successful rookies will progress to the main Raw or Smackdown rosters.

Kaval and Bryan Danielson will be a focal point from day one. In that respect it is still a work. WWE knows who they want to come out the other end.

I hope that Bryan Danielson is mentored by Shawn Michaels if they want to keep it real.

We will be able to tell who management want to make it big by the calibre of mentor.

This show sounds much more interesting than first expected.

It looks like WWE's answer to the UFC's 'The Ultimate Fighter'. One of the few moments of intelligent, logical thinking by WWE.

So we're looking at a wrestling semi-kayabe version of a competitive reality show? Nice. This is definitely the kind of innovation that, if Vince McMahon can actually get people to pay attention long enough for, will definitely produce much more firmly planted identities for the new talent coming in through that program.

I know Kaval and Danielson are the big talents WWE hopes to elevate first and foremost with this program right now, but I would like to state that I believe Curt Hawkins may turn out to be a pleasant surprise. I'm actually looking for all three of those guys to make an impression through NXT and hopefully to be brought up to Smackdown or Raw. Seeing them trained by Mysterio, Michaels, and Chavo/Edge respectively would be sweet for continuity, but I trust WWE know what they're doing on this one even if they don't use that formula.

Quote Shortly after WWE announced the name of their new show is "NXT," it came out that there is already a promotion called NXT Wrestling, which was a developmental system for the UK's Scottsh Wrestling Alliance.

SWA owner PJ Murphy has issued the following statement regarding a potential conflict with WWE over the "NXT" trademark:

SWA:SOURCE

"WWE was proactive in working with us to come to mutually agreeable terms on the release of the NXT trademark once it learned of the potential conflict. The timing was right for us as we were planning on renaming the NXT brand to SWA:Source to be closer aligned with the SWA parent brand."

-PJ Murphy, owner of the Scottish Wrestling Alliance"

This is the difference between a company acting the proper way and the way WWE would have acted if the boot was on the other foot.

The other way around they would have been threatening with legal matters and we know it.

Looks like WWE have bought the full rights to NXT and the Scottish company have come out with a little earner.
