Credit to Cook for batting for ten and a half hours so far in Australian heat, to be the second highest run scorer in the whole series.

So if it's the Burnley Lara who gets out, it will make Cook the first person since Michael Atherton in 1997 against New Zealand to carry his bat for England through the innings as a opener.

Bit late when we are losing three zip, but at least a whitewash won't be happening now.

Bit disappointing that rain will probably ruin what could have been a great last day. Still dont understand with rain predicted Root didnt send the Aussies back in for a few over before the end of day three. May be a different game if a couple fell before stumps.

Well done to Cook of course. Question is though will this keep him in the team for a little too long? Ponting springs to mind as a bloke who had lost it for a couple of years. Put together a couple of good scores and then had another couple of years of being mediocre before retiring.
All Hail Mitchell Johnson and David Warner.

It's a shame the rain could ruin a possible England win...but it's about bloody time the team showed up ha!

As for Cook I think he'll go at the end of this series, same with Jimmy and possibly Broad.

Sad that Australia created a road so they could milk five days of attendances again, instead of making a good pitch.

As others said like Vaughan and Boycott, at the start of day five the pitch looked very little different to the start of day 1.

Disgrace also that Stokes won't be playing in the ODI series. If I was him being treated the way he has been by the ECB without any charges, I would be retiring from international cricket and making way more money freelance.

It's probably just not down to the ECB though, he'd probably have visa issues getting into Australia with a potential conviction hanging over his head. He did wrong and he's being punished, and that's the way it should be.

Would love to know what Jimmy Anderson has been smoking...he said we didn't deserve to lose 4-0...we won some sessions in every test.....let's look at the results Jimmy.....

1st Test - Australia by 10 wickets
2nd Test - Australia by 120 runs
3rd Test - Australia by an innings and 41 runs
4th Test - Draw (Rain in the summer really Australia)
5th Test - Australia by an innings and 123 runs.

Read it like a book. I did mention about our ODI skills. Australia were 8/15 and us 6/4. Criminally under appreciated there. Back us for every other game too.

Amazing what happens when you have bowlers that can bowl as fast as the Aussie test guys (Plunkett and Wood), a better spinner than Ali (Rashid) and guys who can smack a ball hard.

Jason Roy gave one of the best ODI innings ever seen.

Roy won us that game...even if they Aussies did get the extra 20 odds runs Smith wanted we'd have made it home.

So the logic of the England Cricket Board is.........

Ben Stokes not charged with anything so dropped from the biggest away series in test cricket.

Ben Stokes now charged with afray and so is allowed to play in the lower class series in New Zealand Confused

Similar odds to win the second ODI as the first so worth a flutter again.

Ahh but he's in court before he's allowed to fly out haha....remember when Jonathan Woodgate got done for affray? He got 100 hours community service...so if that's the kind of thing Stokes is looking at...he won't be going there.
