Now i'm a total fantasy fan but the shame is that most fantasy series are cheesy or they get cancelled. I'm quite confident that this show will be huge and it was a great first episode. In terms of adult content, it seems to have taken the Spartacus approach but not in such intensity. It looks great and i'll definately be watching as this one develops. So has anyone else seen this so far and if you have, what do you think? Are we looking at something epic or something not to get attached to for fear of cancellation just as it gets good?

Not really my sort of thing TBH.  Sean Bean should prove to be a strong lead in it.  Quite clearly Sky are hopeing it will be a big ratings puller based on the way they were flogging it to death ages before it was even due to start.  But for me there are such much more daring series on TV right now, and I can't watch everything.

Not my usual show but i've got it on Sky Plus because i'm impressed the main cast for this American show are English.

There is Sean Bean from Sheffield, Lena Headley from Huddersfield and went to same high school as me, Alfie Allen (brother of Lily) representing the cockneys and even the stuntman is from same town as me........

I saw the first episode and was very impressed - think it will be a success.

Yes, it's got the violence and sex/nudity but it's not done in an over-the-top way - I watched the first ep of Spartacus (well, first half hour) and thought that was absolutely terrible. So over the top with the violence and CGI, it seemed comedic at times and the sex scene with heavy metal soundtrack made me think i was watching a porno - half expected the guy to turn to camera and wink lol.

Not so with Game of Thrones though - any adult scenes seem to be in keeping with the storyline and not over-embellished. The ending of Ep 1 was great (though a shock) so definitely makes me eager to see Ep. 2

Well what a bloody series it was. I have since bought the books and started reading the first one and i must say that events are 100% with the book and the lines from the program are pretty much bang on. What you miss with the program and gain with the books is the background is easier to take in and the history is better explained. I'm about half way through the 3rd episodde atm (not sure what chapter that is). From 800 pages, they made ten espisodes and where i could spot the end of the first episode was about page 80 so i'm quite hopeful and it is a cracking read :)

I have bought the books now and i must say that the first one is quite accurate to the series (or the other way around). it's 800 pages and 80 pages works out to be about an episode. there are some minor changes but the plot and lines are about 90% and the stuff that didn't make the show isn't exactly world changing. The major difference is that the books contain the two major battles that were omitted/cut around in the series. This is understandable due to the cost of such things and i think the series still comes across really well.

Sadly i have not had the patience to wait for series two and have started reading the second book.

Season 3 is about to start on Easter. It's supposed to cover the first half of the book Storm of Swords. This is when the White Walkers attack the wall, obviously, since we saw Samwell Tarley getting surrounded by an army of the dead headed towards the wall as the last scene of Season 2. If Game of Thrones holds up to the level of quality it's had up to this point (and the Battle for King's Landing was awesome!) then the battle at the wall is going to be epic.

I've been catching up on this show as I haven't watched since mid season 3. Does anyone here watch this?
