Looking forward to this. Two weeks tomorrow from what I see it's going to be three hours of live TV every thursday night from a different UK arena on free sports channel, with twelve dates announced but expected to last for over 30 dates.

They have a multi year contract with Freesports so this has every chance of being what ITV and E could have been for British wrestling as they got off their arse by now and done something off the back of their January 2017 shows.

A great blend of big name worldwide stars (Morrison, Mysterio, RVD, Swagger/Hager) and UK legends like Jody Fleisch, plus up and comers.

Interesting, Five Star is one of the few British promotions I’ve had a bit of interest in due to their star studded cards, tends to be a who’s who of top free agent talent and a few big name veterans.

Will give it a look although I’ve never heard of the channel it’s on. Three hours per week will be hard to squeeze in amongst the hours and hours of WWE!

Hope it works out, just odd using arenas from the start instead of smaller venues that will look fuller.

Also no women on the roster. That doesn't look good when women's wrestling is bigger than ever.

The first show two weeks tonight has John Morrison vs RVD so that's going to be good.

Nathan Cruz vs Morgan Webster vs Mark Haskins vs Joey Axel vs BT Gunn for the Tap Or Snap Championship - Now i'm familiar with Webster, Haskings and Gunn but not the other two guys so i'll be learning as I go along here haha. Not a bad match. Despite not winning Axel was the stand out with 3 eliminations. On a side note those ropes are shockingly slack.

Rampage Brown vs Moose - Decent hard hitting match. Cheap and dirty tactics from Rampage as I expected, and allowing a piledriver on TV is good haha.

Max Money vs Carlito & Masters - Nothing like an old WWE tag team appearing haha. Always loved Carlito so b nice to see if he can still go. Not a bad match. The old guys got their vintage stuff in and the youngsters pick up the cheap win.

Jake Hager vs Eddie Ryan - Very enjoyable match until the cheap finish eurgh. On the plus side this shows just how good Eddie Ryan is.

Zack Gibson vs Rey Mysterio - Another enjoyable match that was ruined by the finish eurgh.

Jody Fleicsch & El Ligero vs Dave Mastiff & Big Grizz - Can't believe Jody is still going haha. We know Mastiff from WOS reboot, but i've known Grizz for a while and he is getting better and better. Classic small guys vs big guys match. Expected the faces to go over given who won earlier in the night but the more exposure Grizz gets the better. He had a WWE tryout last year, so hopefully will be able to get another soon.

RVD vs Johhny Impact err Morrison - Decent enough match, could have beeen a lot better given the calibre of the talent.

In-ring action was ok overall but the ropes need tightening especially if you're using guys the use rope based move. Production looks cheap and tacky but it gives British wrestlers more exposure so surely that's a good thing?

OK so start with the long list of negatives......

1) Approx I would say a thousand people in a five figure arena. I've seen talent mention it was a order of Free Sports to give them a TV deal. Seems daft as they should build up a following before going straight in at that because hiring an arena won't be cheap.

2) Crowd in darkness. Probably to hide thousands of empty seats, but I like to see fans expressions, fan signs and because I couldn't it felt like an house show.

3) Commentary. At one point Hager was called Swagger. They went quiet a for a few minutes apart from hearing them sorting security for a crowd incident. First time I have ever seen Greg Lambert that wrote for PowerSlam magazine. In my head he wasn't a middle aged bald guy.

4) Ring ropes. They weren't tight enough it was very bad watching them stretch so far.

5) Ringside mats. Like those you see in a high school gym. Far too thin to protect guys.

6) Ringside railings were the wrong way around. The big kids can stand on for a proper view was pointing towards the ring, not the crowd.

7) All american main event. No way to promote the talent of British wrestling. Neither Morrison or RVD did their finisher, the match was slow and the end booking was poor.

8) Downtime before the main event. It took too long to start from the end of the previous match. Don't know if they were killing time from other matches finishing too soon.

9) Quiet ring bell. When it rang for the main event, John Morrison was pissing himself laughing at how quiet it was.

10) So Cal Val as interviewer. What's happened to her? Her face has gone really fat.

11) Rey Mysterio told her he's wrestled for 5 Star on and off during the past two years, which is a lie.

Lots to improve on but it appears the company are aware, and so changes will happen next week. We have to give it a chance because nothing is perfect from day one. Zack Gibson was excellent, especially his promo keep going on about Yanks LOL Most of the matches were passable. Our own Phyl Woodvine went on about Jody Fleisch in our very early days here (as he did Corey Graves as Sterling James Keenan as another example), but I haven't seen much of him.

Well 5* has been going out of Scotland for a few years so Rey may have been wrestling with them for a couple of years haha.

'ALL-AMERICAN AMERICAN'S RYAN WIN EARNS HIM SHOT

GET YOUR TICKETS TO METRO RADIO ARENA SHOW

'The All-American American' Jake Hager will challenge John Morrison for the 5 Star Championship next Thursday night (February 8) at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle.

This main event match was confirmed on Thursday night's historic 5 Star Wrestling:LIVE on FreeSports broadcast as Hager defeated 'English Lion' Eddie Ryan then Morrison retained his belt against Rob Van Dam.

Hager has vowed that he is in 5 Star Wrestling to become champion ever since he was unveiled as the company's big money signing at a press conference in Sheffield in January.

And the big Oklahoman reiterated this statement before he narrowly defeated his nemesis Ryan in an exciting bout at Liverpool Echo Arena.

Meanwhile Morrison recorded his sixth successful defence in what is turning out to be an epic reign.

Rob Van Dam joins AJ Styles, PJ Black, Carlito, Moose, Drew Galloway and Rey Mysterio as a who's who of names that 'The Shaman of Sexy' has beaten in 5 Star Championship matches.

Get your tickets to see Morrison vs Hager headline 5 Star Wrestling: LIVE at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle next Thursday night, February 8.

They are available at https://5starwrestling.co.uk/events/newcastle

Or watch live on FreeSports from 7pm next Thursday!

5 Star Wrestling

They're going to Leeds end of March Adders...you may want to head to that one haha.

Max Money vs El Ligero & Jody Fleisch - Not a bad opening match. Glad to see the ropes are slightly better this week haha. Having the heels as Champions makes sense at this early stage, especially as Maxted will bring them lots of exposure from his reality tv stuff.

Zack Gibson getting some decent promo time for character development.

Gibson vs RVD - Not a bad match but the ending was horrid. They're making Gibson something big so needs to come off well and he does, but not fond of the crappy finish.

Mod Cast? Really haha, let's see what the Welshman can do. Jason Prime aka Primate..he's new to me. Looks like we're getting Prime vs Axl huh. Maybe not haha. Flash has good timing so i'd like to see them run this Modcast on a regular basis.

Joey Axl vs Morgan Webster - Not too bad. I don't like the fact that Flash is 0-2 and tapped out two weeks running...he's better than that.

Eddie Ryan vs PJ Black - Oh hi PJ. Eddie getting the rub of being in the ring with two top wrestlers in a row. Enjoyed the match, glad Eddie picked up the win as he can be a standout star and deserves some big wins.

Moose vs Rampage Brown - So a rematch from last week..or not as the case may be. Brutal assault from Rampage which gives him a big rub. Moose will no doubt get the win next time they square off.

Warbeard vs Masters of Cool - Not a bad match. Not fond of the fact Warbeard are 0-2 given their size and ability. I hope they get a payoff soon. Calrito & Masters could have gone 0-2 and nothing would have changed for them but ah well.

Rey Mysterio vs Mark Haskins - Enjoying the match until Rampage attacked grrr. Pretty sure I said last week there's too much of this rubbish going down.

Nathan Cruz vs BT Gunn - Another ok match, can't really say more than that.

Jake Hager vs Johnny Impact - Very good match as it should be between these two. Finally the shenanigans actually worked as it should have with Gibson going after Johnny, which continues that storyline. Also with the pre-match stuff you can kind of sense that Hager will drop to Eddie Ryan...you can just see it happening.

Probably a slightly better showing than last week. Still lots for them to work on, but at least this week there was some character progression. 3 hours is still too long though.

I watched the condensed hour long highlights show and didn't feel like I missed out from two less hours.

It was a decent enough show and plenty of my points from last week were worked on.

The crowd looked bigger than last week. As the shows get more airtime and build up storylines, they should continue to grow.

The ringside barriers were the correct way and you could see the faces of the fans this week.

The ringside high school thin gym mats still don't look safe and the ring ropes could do with being even tighter, but were way better than the debut show.

It's still missing a female division. Give us a Tenille Dashwood vs Rosemary match/fued. Both will surely love to come over and work live TV every week.

Another all American main event. Hager as the new champion is a positive though, as he's more believeable than Johnny Impact.

Hager has already built a decent looking feud with Eddie Ryan, who I think will eventually be the one that dethrones Hager. I think Gibson will take the loss to Hager soon, but not until he's beaten Rey and possibly Impact/Morrison too.

I'm half tempted to go to the Cardiff show but no bugger will go with me haha.
