Identity Of New TNA Star 'Ethan' Revealed - Details

Since last week's live edition of TNA iMPACT! Wrestling on Spike TV, the promotion has been airing vignettes promoting the debut of a new character by simply claiming, "Ethan Is Coming." This of course has led to speculation among many wrestling fans as to who exactly the man portraying the new "Ethan" character will be.

"Ethan" will be portrayed by Michael Hutter, who formerly worked under the ring name "Derrick Bateman" in the WWE NXT developmental system. Hutter had a tryout with the company a few weeks ago and has since been signed by the promotion.

As noted a few times in the past, the word going around the wrestling community is that TNA has signed multiple new talents, with Hutter being the first example of a guy who will be getting his shot with the company on national television.

Bateman always seemed a talented guy to me who WWE just didn't seem to have any ideas for so Im happy to see him get a shot in TNA, he is one of several NXT releases that TNA should be looking at, young talented performers who won't cost the earth to hire and are likely keen to impress and passionate about wrestling.

I think its decent of tna to give bateman a chance - however alot of tna fans on the net were hoping for mvp so will no doubt be disappointed again.

I always thought he seemed quite decent in NXT but WWE obviously didnt rate him that highly

Feels like they're going to do another TJ Perkins, someone who'd pass inside the ring but be given a shitty gimmick. Didn't "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase cross anyone's mind when seeing the "diamond" encrusted ETHAN, the arrogance and the style of clothing?

I can't be the only one who's THAT old to remember, can I?

I'm constantly reminded that Rico is that old as well, because every time you two converse on here I'm somehow reminded of old people sex...

Might have to update the title of this thread their Fletch as:

Quote Earlier we posted a tweet from Michael Hutter teasing his debut tonight on Impact but in an interesting turn of events, Hutter's tweet and Twitter account have disappeared. I'm not sure what this means because Hutter could have simply changed his username if that was his intention. As soon as we hear more or know his new Twitter username, we will be sure to let you know. More to come...

UPDATE: After doing some research, Michael Hutter's new Twitter name is @EthanCarterTNA which is interesting because the man who was simply known as Ethan now has a last name. Is anyone thinking what I'm thinking - rich spoiled dude with the last name Carter? As for his tweets regarding Impact tonight, they have been deleted it appears. Could this be an indication that he will not debut tonight after all? We will know soon enough.

Ethan being a relative of Dixie Carter would instantly get him over as a heel considering how incredibly over heel Dixie Carter is (the lady is drew NUCLEAR heat at the Tulsa taping)

So long as Ethan doesn't fuck up Drew McIntyre style, this "Chosen One" gimmick could get him pretty far in TNA.

He's a talented guy who WWE apparently had zero ideas for, so fair-play to TNA for snapping him up and actually creating him a identity.

I like the look of this gimmick and Hutter came across as comfortable in his new role in the vignettes, the real test will of course be how he performs in front of a live crowd.
As Willy said having him as a associate/relative of Dixie is a guaranteed heat device.

Hopefully he will be the first of several new talents in TNA.

That perfectly summarizes nearly every guy TNA has found success with. Aside from Sting, I think everyone on the TNA has either worked for WWE, been in their developmental program or at least tried out a couple times for WWE. And as much as some people want to jeer TNA for going after "WWE rejects," WWE has proven on several occasions that (regardless of talent) they can't always figure out how to utilize some guys.

This guy has impressed me in TNA so far, sure hes only worked with squash match jobbers so far but thats all part of his gimmick.

The important thing is he seems very comfortable and natural in this new character, it really surprises me that WWE were prepared to let someone with his look who is fairly decent both in the ring and on the mic walk away.

The real test will be when he gets his first full blown feud with someone who matters.
