Quote ECW On SCI-FI Results (6/13): Heyman, Sandman, Dreamer, Sabu!

Event: ECW on SCI-FI Results
Airdate: Tuesday, June 13th, 2006
Location: The Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ
Results by PowerWrestling.com

ECW On Sci-Fi Opener:

The show opened with clips from Sunday's One Night Stand PPV, including Rob Van Dam winning the WWE Title. They followed with clips from Raw, talking about how the title decision stands and how John Cena will be at the show tonight.

In the arena:

The show opened with Paul Heyman coming to the ring as "a representative of ECW", whatever that is. It should be noted that Justin Roberts was the ring announcer, not Steven DeAngelis. Joey Styles and Tazz were at ringside to call the action. Heyman then said it was his privilege to introduce Rob Van Dam, who came to the ring with the WWE Title. RVD thanked Paul Heyman, then the fans. He said that we all saw him beat John Cena at ONS and win the WWE Title. He said, "Say hello to your new champion, Rob Van Dam". He told Heyman that John Cena said he was going to show up tonight. Rob said that he hopes Cena does the right thing and helps him celebrate being the new champion. Heyman said that it was his honor to present RVD with something that he knew someday he would hold, the new ECW World Heavyweight Title (the shoot of that is that the plan back in ECW was for RVD to win the title when the time was right, it just never happened). RVD said that he could not think of a greater honor for his career. He said he would accept it and cherish it, and also keep the WWE Title. He said, "I can pull it off". Some fans chanted "throw it back". He said he would wear the ECW Title proudly and then pointed to the WWE Title and said, "Look at this, it spins!" Edge's music hit and he came to the ring with Lita. Heyman gave him a grand introduction. Edge shook hands with Heyman and thanked him for inviting he and Lita to the show. He told RVD that no matter what he thinks of ECW, he respects him. He said that they had a lot in common. They both won money in the bank. They both broke the glass ceiling. And it will be an honor to face him at Vengeance. They shook hands and as Edge was turning to leave, he came back and speared and unsuspecting RVD instead. Tazz and Joey Styles were outraged. Edge left though the crowd and as he was looking back at the ring, John Cena came up behind him. Edge finally turned around and Cena pounded Edge and threw him back around ringside. RVD and Cena took uncomfortable turns beating on Edge until they had enough and hit each other. Edge ran away with Lita while Cena laid out Paul Heyman and left. Then, the ECW locker room emptied. The whole angle had a real WWE feel to it.

Backstage:

In the back, Paul Heyman was with the locker room, irate at Edge and John Cena ruining their celebration. Heyman said that if Monday Night Raw wants to bring themselves to ECW, they will do the same thing next Monday at Raw. So, expect an invasion on Monday's show.

Referee: Mike Posey
The Sandman vs. The Zombie

A zombie, appropriately named "The Zombie", walked out to the ring. Tazz asked if this was "a rib". Zombie got the mic and growled into it. Tazz and Styles called it ridiculous and laughable. Sandman's new music played, which no one knew, and he came out in the crowd, drinking a beer. He made his way to the ring and the bell rang. He pounded Zombie with his cane and beat him in less than a minute. There is your first match of the new ECW. Tazz said he thought we have seen the last of the Zombie. We can only hope. Then, we saw Zombie again as Sandman pounded him to the back with his cane.

Winner - The Sandman

Backstage:

We then saw "Kelly" (OVW's Barbie Blank), a hot blonde who said she was an exhibitionalist and would take off all her clothes tonight. She's hot, so I will watch.

Referee: John Finnegan
Kurt Angle vs. Justin Credible

Kurt Angle then came to the ring. His opponent was Justin Credible, who came out to generic loud music. Angle threw Credible around like the guy was working for the MTV group before he came back to ECW. Oh wait, he was. Seriously, Angle pounded the snot out of Justin, doing the "wrestling machine" character that we reported WWE had planned for him to help save his body. Kurt choked Credible out to win the match in a couple of minutes. The announcers talked about how Angle can choke guys out in ECW, he can't at Vengeance. Angle said that he would make Orton tap out at Vengeance. He's the new face of ECW.

Winner - Kurt Angle

Backstage:

Paul Heyman was shown on camera. He said that if people wanted Extreme, they would find out what it is. Everything he had planned for the show is now out the window (given what we saw in the first thirty minutes, I support that decision). He is going to take 10 of ECW's best and put on an Extreme Battle Royal. All weapons are legal. The winner faces John Cena at Vengeance and will join the ECW group when they show up at Raw on Monday and face the WWE wrestlers. I am guessing at least some of the guys that don't win will do so as well.

Backstage:

Kelly said that next she would show all of her assets. To say she's stupidly hot would be an understatement.

Outside the arena:

We saw a vampire outside of the building.

In the arena:

Kelly the hot new ho came out to strip for us. She's smoking, no doubt. She went up to the stage and danced a little like stripper. She pulled of her skirt, stripping down to her skivvies. She took off her top, leaving her in her bra. She went to take off her bra and couldn't get it unsnapped. I swear, she couldn't. Maybe it was her first time wearing one. So, she pulled the straps down and lifted it up over her cans, which she covered with her hands which was super hot. Tazz said he likes the new ECW and think it will be better than the old one. Yeah right, not at this pace.

Extreme Battle Royal

ow it's time for our main event, the Extreme Battle Royal. Tommy Dreamer came out first, followed by Sabu. We came back from commercial and Roadkill and Danny Doring were in the ring as Al Snow was walking out to it. Then, Stevie Richards came out, followed by Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke, with Big Guido and the former Trinity of TNA. Next was Balls Mahoney and Big Show. The match was on for a minute when they went to another commercial. When we came back, no one had been eliminated. There was a lot of plunder and weapons. Tazz and Styles said that they were different than Raw and Smackdown and that's what makes ECW better. The story of the match was that everyone went after Big Show since he's huge. Show eliminated Snow and Doring quickly. He then threw out Stevie, Roadkill and Balls. Dreamer attacked Big Show briefly and then stopped. Sabu launched himself on Show and was tossed off, but didn't hit the floor. Dreamer wasn't so lucky as Show press slammed him out of the ring through a ringside table. Show threw out Mamaluke and Little Guido. He faced off with Big Guido, who got tossed next, leaving Sabu and Show. Big Guido was on the floor holding Show's arm as Sabu came off a chair and hit him with another chair in the back, and Show rolled out. So, Show eliminated everyone but Sabu and lost. Sabu will face John Cena at Vengeance. Show was very unhappy on the floor. The announcers sold that ECW would be at Raw on Monday.

Winner - Sabu

Sounds shit to me. I will watch it when it's on at the weekend but don't expect much from it. The show was built around Cena/RVD/Show/Edge/Angle. Doesn't matter where some of them are now they are still WWE guys for now. The show should have been based on ECW guys but only Sabu got a proper mention. They have some girl do a strip and not show anything. You can get that watching WWE. Sandman and Angle both had squash matches which gave the old "Superstars" feel when there were squash matches building up to PPVs.

The show blew goats in my opinion. Not just one goat - many, many goats! Mountain goats!

The whole thing was horrible. It didn't even live up to Monday Night RAW standard, never mind ECW! The whole thing was depressing and disapointing.

I hope Vince sees, I mean really sees, how bad the show was and steps back to let Heyman do what he does best - Make ECW what it should be, extreme.

Let me figure something out: vampires and zombies. That says enough about how crappy it is, and I was busy watching the HEAT.

This comment might come off as a bit controversial, but I really don't think so. The whole show reeked of the God of McMahonism, Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Let's get this straight: squash matches, half-baked stripteases,  D-Generation X commercial airings, and zombies? in ECW? Did squash matches and zombies and all that crap ever belong in the old ECW? I don't know, but at this rate, here is my opinion about the new ECW:

SAKUYA KUMASHIRO FROM THE ANIME TENCHI MUYO IS MORE EXTREME THAN THE NEW ECW!

In fact, I'm gonna make a poll about this. I betcha Sakuya gets more votes. And that's forgetting to mention that the fans were completely the opposite of our passionate ECW following. Prime example: Barbie Blank, The Zombie, and John Cena did not get booed out of the building. And that's supposed to be extreme? Gimmie a break!

Quote They showed close, tight shots of the crowd as Joey Styles and Tazz welcomed everyone to ECW, noting they were live from Albany, New York.
Sabu vs. Tony Mamaluke (with Trinity)

Sabu made his way to the ring for a match. They aired clips of a bloody John Cena from last night after he had been put through the table. Mamaluke then made his way to the ring with Trinity. Tazz said if you want Divas, go to Raw or Smackdown. If you want Vixens, you go to Smackdown. Styles noted that ECW was the top show on Sci Fi last week when they aired. Tazz noted that Raw was the top rated cable show of the week. Yep, Vince McMahon is already feeding lines.

The match started out fast. They are shooting the ring tight with the lights in the Arena low to give it a darker feel. Sabu got a near fall with a legdrop. Mamaluke hit a belly to back suplex for a near fall. The commentary focused on what Sabu did to Cena. Sabu hit a slingshot legdrop, then cinched in a Camel Clutch. Sabu hit a springboard plancha off a chair to the floor on Mamaluke. The camera angles are absolutely more intimate this week. Sabu set up a table but Mamaluke attacked him and tossed him back in the ring. He slammed the chair down over Sabu's face and went to the top. He went for a frog splash but Sabu tossed the chair into Mamaluke's face while laying on the mat. Sabu put Mamaluke on a table and hit a plancha out of the ring into a splash, putting Mamaluke through the table. They used a closeup angle that made Sabu look like he was crashing into the camera. That looked awesome. Sabu tossed Mamaluke back in the ring and locked on a camel clutch. Mamaluke tapped out.

Your winner, Sabu.

A short but satifying matches with some hard hitting spots. At this point, the show is already WAY better when compared to the debut.

Kelly introduced herself and said again, she's an exhibitionist. She said that last week she was so excited she couldn't get her bra off, but tonight she'll show us, "everything she has."

When they returned from commercial, Rob Van Dam did a promo backstage, wearing the WWE title around his waist and the ECW title above it. Van Dam promo'd his match later tonight and then said that Edge was going to get his ass whipped at Vengeance, but tonight Edge will get an "Extreme asskicking." Van Dam said he needed to get rolling, "if you know what I mean" and then led the crowd in reciting "Rob Van Dam."

The Big Show came out. Tommy Dreamer then made his way to the ring. Styles mentioned how Show put Dreamer through a table last week. Styles announced the ECW 7/4 taping in Philly. Dreamer took the mic and said that last week Show was dominant and got a taste of what is hardcore. He said that if Show wants to feel the heart and soul of ECW and to truly feel what it's like to be ECW, "You have to go through me."

Dreamer slapped Show, but Show easily beat him down. Dreamer rolled out of the ring with Show following. Show tossed Dreamer into the ring steps and then beeled him into the guard rail. Show picked up Dreamer and drilled him, back-first, into the ring post. They returned to the ring, with Show continuing to beat Dreamer down and Dreamer fighting back. Dreamer kept getting up every time he was beat down. Big Show put Dreamer in a Cobra Clutch and hit the Chokenstein move that Nick Gage uses in CZW (chokeslam into an over the knee backbreaker), drilling Dreamer down over his knee. He then flung Dreamer across the ring and hit the Chokenstein into the knee again. Show walked off. They showed a beaten Dreamer, pulling himself up, staring towards Show, smiling.

They showed a clip of Randy Orton tapping out to Kurt Angle at ECW One Night Stand, then promo'd the main event/

A Vengeance promo centered around DX vs. The Spirit Squad aired as they came out of commercial.

Kevin Fertig The Vampire was shown baring his fangs outside the Arena. Tazz quipped, "ECW attracts all kinds."

A masked wrestler, billed as "Macho Libre" made his way to the ring. He said, "Buenos Noches, Ooooh Yeah" acting like Randy Savage and Jack Black had an offspring. He said, "Those this is ECW. Well, Macho Libre is looking for a fight. Yeah! Looking for a fight. Oh Yeah! Snap into It."

That brought out Sandman, who came down the stairs of the Arena. They showed a pre-taped promo of Sandman inserted in the upper corner of the screen, claiming to be an "ECW original." He said he only cares about drinking beer and chasing women and, "If you get in my way, I'll cane the holy Hell out of you." Nacho tried to talk to Sandman, but Sandman simply caned the hell out of him, then cracked open a beer. Sandman hit the White Russian Legsweep on, as Joey Styles called it, "That big steaming pile of sports-entertainment." Sandman then covered him for the pin.

Backstage, Paul Heyman was telling referee Mike Posey that the only thing an ECW referee does is count the fall or rule the submission when Jim Molineaux told him John Cena was in the parking lot. Heyman said Cena has some pair of balls and told Molineaux to get everyone together, because, "It's time for action." When they returned from commercial, Paul Heyman was riling up the troops. Cena walked into the building, his eye looking like hell. He approached them, acknowledging Van Dam and Sabu, then called Heyman a, "sc*mbag." He said last night Sabu pulled a hell of a stunt. He said that he's sure Sabu has a lot more in store for him. Cena said that he has an offer for Sabu and he'll look Sabu and ECW dead in the eye so they know he's serious. He said that apparently ECW doesn't like him or the way he does business. He said he has no problem with that, but he doesn't like people attacking him from behind. He said that this Sunday, Heyman can bring anyone he wants or anyone he's got. He said that at Vengeance, it's Cena vs. Sabu and offers it to be an Extreme Lumberjack match. Cena said he's man enough to stare a good asskicking in the face, but just wants have a chance to go down swinging. Cena asked Heyman if they have a deal but before he could respond, Sabu screamed, "Deal!" Cena turned his back on the ECW crew and walked away slowly, as they glared at him.

Kelly came out and stripped. She got her top off this time, but an unnamed wrestler in tights (Deep South Wrestling's Mike Knox) came out with a towel and covered her, forcing Kelly to leave.

They showed footage of Edge spearing Rob Van Dam last week.

They aired a "Test is coming to ECW" promo.

Edge (with Lita) & Randy Orton vs. Kurt Angle & ECW/WWE champion Rob Van Dam

Edge and Lita came out first. Edge took the mic and said he wanted to set the record straight, saying ECW sucks. He said that all the ECW fans suck. Tazz said, "The only thing that sucks is his old lady." No pyro for Orton. Angle made his way to the ring. Van Dam came to the ring, with pyro. They shot from under the pyro as opposed to a long shot.

Edge and Angle started. Van Dam tagged in, with the Raw heels taking over. Van Dam responded with a kick to Orton, then straddled him across the top rope. Van Dam hit the Ryder Kick (leaping side kick off the ropes) to Orton, who fell to the floor. Van Dam slammed him into the guard rail, then hit a moonsault off the apron to the floor. Orton cut off Van Dam when they returned to the ring and the Raw team worked over Van Dam. Van Dam elbowed Edge as he charged and hit a kick off the middle turnbuckle. Van Dam went for Rolling Thunder, but Lita tripped him and pulled him out of the ring. The fans chanted, "Slut" as they went to commercial.

At some point, Randy Orton seemed to really hurt his arm during landing on it wrong. He almost was done with the match outside of very small spots here and there where he was noticably nursing his arm and taking bumps but still protecting the arm. The finish came when RVD hit Edge with the WWE belt during a spear attempt and followed up with the 5-star frogsplash for the 1-2-3. RVD and Kurt Angle celebrate as ECW goes off the air.

Reports said Paul Heyman had more say on the product this week. But looking at the review you wouldn't have thought so. The main event was a typical Raw main event with 4 WWE guys. I just hope Randy is alright with his injury. Instead of a Zombie the Sandman had to beat an impersonator instead. FFS what was the thinking behind that ? And we had that Kelly lass doing another half arsed strip tease. How WWE is that for you ? I didn't expect a member of FBI to beat Sabu. But it's another defeat for the faction. They just cannot win.

Better show this week but that's not saying much... I hate the crowds that are there they need the bingo halls with the sleazy crowd damn it! And I hate that it's live because nobody will cuss at least if it's taped the can bleep it out.
How bad is Dreamer on the mic when he can't call someone a bitch or use the f bomb???

This ECW shit bites. The only interesting thing about the show - and this is not really as interesting as it is ridiculous - is what's the next big stinking pile of sports entertainment the Sandman's gonna beat down.

Last week the show wasn't too bad. I am loving the whole Knox/Kelly storyline. Test match got cut short but he was still impressive (although someone should tell him about the wellness program). The fake vicar bit was shit and Sandman is already getting stale beating up dodgy gimmicks. Good main event with RVD and Big Show. Seemed to go on for ages and the ending was quality. I don't see how Heyman sold out like the fans chanted. Not since Bash At The Beech 1996 have i seen so much shit thrown in the ring. All in all the product is improving.
