Regardless of how he was put over and how he didnt take Cedric seriously - the issue is with McIntyre as a whole.

He has not won a major feud since God knows when, previously he has recovered from PPV losses by having a good run of results on Raw.

He is taking far too many losses in circumstances where he has the advantage and yet WWE are still expecting people to treat him as a credible threat - not gonna happen

He has suffered from too much 50/50 booking the losses to Roman especially harmed him, he should have beaten Reigns at Stomping Grounds.

I'm hoping the plan is to rebuild him starting with a victory over The Undertaker at Summerslam.

But I dont think the loss to Cedric on Raw was Drew being depushed, punished or anything like that I think there is a story being told here that is designed to give a rub to Cedric Alexander while ultimately putting Drew over and moving him on to bigger things.

So this week McIntyre just put a vicious beat down on Cedric Alexander. This is where I expected the storyline to go and I like it, I would expect the next stage to be another match maybe at Summerslam.

The booking of this angle should ultimately re-establish Drew as a beast while giving a rub to Cedric by giving him some exposure working with a top guy. Its a win win booking scenario and hopefully helps to get Drew back on track to where he needs to be.

I'm really not sure whats happening with Drew anymore.

KOTR could have been the perfect chance to rebuild him and get him that momentum back but hes been eliminated at the first opportunity which says to me WWE just arent that high on him anymore.

He has everything that screams top star yet for some reason, it just isnt happening

I dont know what's going on with Drew, his booking hasn't been so bad that it makes you think hes got backstage heat or somebody in management or a top talent isn't high on him, but hes definitely been booked very 50/50 recently and its killed a lot of his early momentum that he had when he was ploughing through everybody that he faced.

I thought he may win King of the Ring to try and kickstart his push but at the same time he doesn't necessarily need the win, they can save his character and restore his momentum without doing that and there are other talents in the tournament that would benefit much more from the win, I'm also not that excited about the idea of King Drew.

But he does need some big wins badly, he just seems to crash and burn every time hes in there with a top face and now hes losing clean to mid-card guys.

Good to see Drew finally back from injury and the crowd agreed as he got a good pop for a heel.

Nice that he came back with a win and not doing his usual jobbing.

I believe with Heyman now in charge of creative Drew will be booked better than ever.

Great booking, why couldn't they have used McIntyre like this before he got injured?

He had a great match with Ricochet, the crowd loved the match and Drew went over clean and strong, plus he got a nice little rub from Ric Flair.

They need to get it right with Drew this time, he has the look, size, promo skills and ring skills to be a top star.

100% agree with this.

they need to keep booking him like this and they NEED to let him win some big feuds instead of having him look dominant up until the big match and having him lose every time - hes become like Strowman whenever he gets near the Universal Title

Was it just me or did they tease a babyface turn for Drew this week?

He definitely was showing a more fan friendly persona and he got a good reaction as a result.

Drew has been booked dominant in the ring these past few weeks but he's still only beating jobbers, whenever he's in the ring with a more relevant talent they seem to go the non-finish route, Drew needs to get some wins that matter. This week was a step in the right direction as while Hawkins and Ryder are definitely at the bottom of the card at least McIntyre destroyed two guys putting over his dominance.

If Drew does turn babyface I wouldn't be surprised to see him win the Royal Rumble and challenge Lesnar at Wrestlemania, if booked right that could be a excellent feud and a dream match in the ring.

So this week more than ever I think we are seeing Drew morphing into a babyface character.

He is doing plenty of crowd pleasing tactics and even playing up to the fans on the mic and introducing stuff like the countdown to the claymore kick to get the fans more into his matches.

I'm fine with this, McIntyre is a star in the making and WWE had screwed up his heel push with too much 50/50 booking and jobbing him out to far too many top babyfaces, they maybe could have salvaged him as a heel by having him go on a dominant tear through some top faces but its probably smart to flip the script and reboot him as a babyface.

I would love to see Drew vs Lesnar at Wrestlemania or even a twist of having Drew challenge The Fiend.
