Quote According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, WWE has released Drew Gulak from his contract. Speculation was that Gulak was done with the company once his profile got moved to the alumni section of the WWE roster page. He appeared on last night's episode of Friday Night SmackDown, losing to recent ally and partner Daniel Bryan in the first round of the Intercontinental title tournament.

Gulak joined WWE in 2016 following his debut in the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. He is a former NXT cruiserweight champion and competed in the opening preshow bout of this year's two night WrestleMania 36.

WWE has yet to make an official statement on the release.

 We'll keep you updated.

I understand releasing people not being seen, but this release is one I am disappointed with.

His team with Daniel Bryan was entertaining and there was so much more they could do with each other.

I hope he is signed back up once all this is over and they need to boost their rosters to go back to house shows.

It's said his contract expired and they couldn't agree terms on a new deal so sounds like this may have been Gulak's decision to leave. It's also said the door is not yet shut on a new contract and negotiations are on going.

Gulak is a great technical wrestler but his personality is very dry and I couldn't really see him in anything more than a low-mid card position, I actually felt it was dragging Daniel Bryan down a little by being associated with him. Timothy Thatcher in NXT works a similar scientific style but seems to have a stronger persona.

Gulak is no real loss, I would have much preferred to see ECIII or Rusev stay than him.
