I didn't care for the fact that Dragon Age 2 was a completely different story than that of the Grey Warden's from Dragon Age: Origins, but once I got over that fact, Dragon Age 2 was damned good. Dragon Age 3 is going to have quite a bit of work to try and tie both Hawke's tale with the Wardens tale. However, if done well it could be quite epic.

Morrigan got kinda ugly, hopefully they make her a little better looking before release, because she's the best character BioWare has ever made, better than Mordin Solus, Urdnot Wrex, or Commander Shepard. And of course getting Ogren & Zevran & Isabella back will be nice too. Even the hardened Leliana would be good too, but it appears she's working for the chantry again which pisses me off. I hate the chantry. Hopefully Alistair is still a drunk blabbering about how he could have once been king of Fereldon.

It will be good to get back into this world again. I loved Origins. Dragon Age 2 was actually really good as a stand-alone game as well, but it kinda ruined Dragon Age's chances of being a better series than the Mass Effect trilogy. I hope Dragon Age Inquisition ties everything together nicely though. I am hopeful that it will be the best game of the 3.

OK, so the latest gameplay trailer was released a little while ago, and after seeing it, letting it sink in, and then watching it again, I gotta say I'm looking forward to this more than I was Mass Effect 3.

I've been hearing talks that they're taking a lot from the Skyrim style of gameplay. The two games had a lot in common anyways, but if they're going to turn it into that style of first person (or 3rd person over-the-shoulder) RPG along with bringing back the iconic characters of Morrigan, Varric, Isabella, Leliana, Oghren, Zevran, and for the ladies, Anders, Fenris, and definitely Alistair. (I swear I've never seen so many gamer girls (ever) go googoo for a video game character before until Alistair started pretending not to get hurt by all the abuse you can throw his way) then this game might just be able to top the Mass Effect trilogy still.

After all the hate Mass Effect 3 got, it's actually quite comparable to the hate Dragon Age 2 got. Dragon Age Origins was certainly better than Mass Effect 1, so if BioWare can pull out all the stops and best their own work and make Dragon Age Inquisition better than Mass Effect 2, then maybe it will have all been worth it.

My only hope though, is that they don't fuck up Morrigan's character development. Because she should not be the villain IMO, and I'm afraid that might be where they're taking her. She was never the villain. No matter how much she did that the other characters hated, no matter how much she fought and argued about everything with every other companion, if you just listened to her arguments, they were valid. She had a twisted view on things, but damn if she wasn't well educated, and had everyone's best interest at heart.

But with Morrigan escaping into the fade and recently impregnated with the old god, it's going to be hard to explain that, and it's very possible she will get killed. That seems to be the cliché for mothers of demons.

One of those last clips with them saying "whatever we were before, we are now the inquisition" shows both party members from DA:O, as well as DA2. Hopefully that will their means to facilitate bringing both the Warden and Hawke's stories together.

So I've been playing this non-stop for the last couple days since it's release, and while I love it, I have to say it feels rushed; like they were trying to make a deadline and put it out too soon.

There's bugs. And I'm not used to bugs with BioWare games at all, never. Not in Baldur's Gate 1 or 2, not in Dragon Age: Origins, not in Mass Effect 1, 2, or 3, or anything of theirs I've played in between. I'm quite annoyed by these bugs, even if they are just graphical.

Also, the Inquisition has been stuck between a rock and a hard place in regards to where fans wanted to see it go, and it seems a bit like they were stretched a little too thin to appease conflicting desires for the direction of the game. Some people have complained that the series felt too linear and wanted it to feel more open world and explorable like it's Skyrim or something. Others wanted a better story, with a better script that tied together the stories of the Grey Warden and Hawke.

The world is friggin huge, and I've yet to fully explore everything in even one of the locations I can travel to, but it was really difficult for me to get that exploring the world meant going home and doing quests in my board room. Once I figured that out, no big deal, new maps started popping up all over the place but it seems counterintuitive to expand a map like this. Though admittedly for the sake of the story it is fine.

That story, btw, while so far has been really quite good (ignoring the fact that I fucking hate the chantry and everything to do with it, and the best part of the entire series was in Origins when Morrigan would rip it to shreds every chance she got while not being a total moron of a mage that proved them right about everything they stood for) I spent the first 8 hours of the game not realizing that the story had pointed me back to Haven (your starting home base) about 2 minutes into exploring the map and everything else I was doing was just so much busywork, and I played pointlessly leveling and exploring until it got so damned monotonous that I was literally bitching and moaning at every group of mobs I found that I needed to fight.

In short, I've been a moron about how I went about playing the game, not realizing what I'm supposed to do. However, a few more discussions and interactions to point me in the right direction when I'm wandering aimlessly would be nice, because while maybe I'm not the typical gamer, I'm not the only one of my type by a long shot either.

All things said, I've really been enjoying the game, sans the ability to say fuck you to the chantry and everyone that believes in that shit. Well, and no Morrigan yet, and fuck everyone and every thing about this game if she's not an important character in this game this time around. As long as I eventually get the ability to tell the chantry to go fuck itself, and Morrigan comes into the game and remains an important part of it, then this game is going to be fine by me.
