The reason Trump is doing well among republicans is that they have nothing to offer except anger and fear. No economic, military, education. or cultural plan.  If you are a do nothing/know nothing party, then the loudest demagogue will win the primary. With the help of CNN and FOX, Trump is turning elections into a reality TV show that plays to old, white, southern male dropouts.

I laughed out loud when I heard a Trump supporter on the radio answer the question "Why are you a supporter of his?" with "At times he might say the most vile things you've ever heard, but at least he gets the job done!" I imagine the job being spreading racial discontent among his own people, fear and propaganda

Of course there's a mutual respect between Trump and Katie Hopkins. Both their supporters claim they are only saying what the majority are thinking, when they have absolutely no evidence to back up such a claim - they only believe that because it's what they're thinking and of course they can't for one second believe they could actually be the minority. They both pander to the ignorant and the lazy who agree without doing any kind of research. Why should they when it's obvious their heroes wouldn't know research if it bit them on the arse and taped a calling card in front of their eyes. And so on and so on.....

I think it's a sad state of affairs when Jeb Bush is being made to look intelligent and reasonable, if only because Trump is that much of a loud-mouthed, racist, ignorant piece of shite in comparison...

I won't be voting for Trump in November but if he is elected, he's not going be able to do all the things he's promised to do, not even close. He's not going to build a wall along the entire United States/Mexican border, nor will he be able to make Mexico pay for such a wall. He's not going to be able to ban Muslims from entering the United States because, frankly, he doesn't have the authority. He's not going to be able to end birthright citizenship for children of foreign parents who're born on American soil because, again, he doesn't have the authority to do that as it's part of the Constitution and Trump can't just go through the Constitution with a bottle of White Out and erase the parts he doesn't like. He obviously doesn't seem to understand that being President isn't like being a king during the days of old where a king could literally do whatever he wanted without any consequences or anyone to block him. The Democrats in congress will oppose Trump on so many things and it's also not like Trump is particularly popular with his own political party when you consider that prominent Republicans like Mitt Romney, John McCain, Rand Paul and a number of others just flat out don't like the man and that there's a huge rift within the GOP, has been for quite a long time, and said rift has only grown during Trump's campaign.

I've been watching these elections from beginning to end and man oh man it's better than any TV program out there. The closest I'd say was House of Cards, with Clinton as Keven Spacey's Character, only without the White House. The shit the Democrats are blatantly pulling to insure Hillary Clinton is their Nominee is mindbogglingly, breathtakingly, Party destroyingly, wholly illegally BAD.

You got Trump at one end of the spectrum on the right hand side spewing his racist, sexist misogynistic, violence inciting views, you have Clinton as the Neocon Liberal/Republican lite in the middle bemoaning the fact that every time Bernie Sanders utters a derogatory FACT against her that it damages her chance of gaining the Presidency, and then you have Bernie Sanders the sane one, the Democratic Socialist and the ONLY one representing his Party in the light it should be represented.

...And whilst the insane play attack ads against each other (the funniest being Trump showing Clinton Barking like a dog and ending with Putin laughing - had me in fits of laughter), Bernie Sanders is having to take on not only Clinton but also the entire Democratic Party Establishment (the Money takers) including the DNC, most notably Debbie Wasserman Schultz money laundering for Clinton's Campaign; the entire Mainstream Media who are either blacking him out (they were willing to show 20 mins of an empty Trump Podium than go to Bernie at a 20+ thousand Rally) or reporting lie upon lie upon lie. Not only does he have to go up against all that, but also against crackpots taking potshots at his Campaign office in Nevada during the first Primary vote.

It's fucking nuts over there, but great entertainment. Go Bernie! Go Bernie! Go Bernie!

Smile

I've followed the road to the 2016 US Presidential Election for some time now, and Trump's campaign has simultaneously been hysterical, frightening, and strangely vindictive.

Trump has spent decades in the lime light as a celebrity, which has given him ample time to prepare to be comfortable in the spotlight. What's his strongest trait is that not being in an elected office, Trump has absolutely no fear of the repercussions of his statements because he has no office he has to run for again. This means that statements that would have been suicide for any politician are open season for Trump to use, and though people in general can be pretty easily coerced, most can tell when you are trying to pander to them with BS and Trump's lack of political correctness or "walking on egg shells" responses typical to US politicians have for better or worse captured the attention of people alienated by politicians their perceive as "out of touch".

Trump however has demonstrated a level of nationalistic xenophobia that I personally find disconcerting. His willingness to not only blame societal ills on illegal Mexicans and Muslims but also to encourage this blame evokes a sense of dread in myself (though a white Christian, I have read enough history to know what happens when a segment of the population is blamed for the problems of a society). Also unnerving for me is Trump's favorable attitude towards eminent domain, the government practice of seizing private lands for government purposes. Already proposing massive government projects including the infamous "Wall the Mexicans will pay for", I personally see this as a troubling mentality for a Presidential candidate to have, personally viewing eminent domain as an infringement of civil liberties.

That being said, I look upon Trump's probable nomination as a vindictive justice, albeit perhaps a frugal one. As somebody who once believed the US Republican Party represented financial responsibility and smaller government, I found voters like me were consistently pushed aside by the Party in favor of radical conservatives that had no interest in smaller government and more in pursuing an agenda favored by evangelical right wing Christians and other rich extremists. Seeing Trump bulldoze over nearly every other Republican favored candidate with his trademark arrogance and disregard was satisfying for me on a personal level, knowing full well that this political party who dismissed voters like me now must do damage control for a reckless demagogue. And nothing is more personally satisfying than seeing the Party who rejected voters with my mindset beg for my support and me being able to reply with simply "you created this monster, now feed it.."

(As for Clinton, that's an even longer diatribe for another time)

I can see him winning for two reasons..........

1) He's behind on polls. Polls were wrong in the past such as Tories wouldn't get a majority government, Scotland will leave the UK in their referendum and the UK will vote to remain in the EU. They always seem to be wrong.

2) Those who vote for Hilary will be more vocal because voting for Trump is seen as a bad thing. Plenty will have said they are voting for Hilary but won't when they reach the booth.

Is this the best America could do? 360 million and these are your best two candidates? In the UK we feel harsh now for having a go at Ed Milliband for the face he pulled eating a bacon sandwich and for his famous Edstone because that's nothing in comparison.

First up you have Hilary. Her dodgy emails are a worry because FBI wouldn't just go after anyone. She keeps whoring out famous A listers for votes hoping their fanbases vote for her because of them. She's the most experienced candidate ever so should be leading by a mile and isn't. What does that tell you about the woman? It's working against her that she looks a weak woman not just with her actual health that's been questioned alot but because she stood by her husband. He absolutely humiliated her on a world stage with a younger lady and lied about it. She's been a doormat to Bill for decades.

Then you have Trump who's even worse with the stuff that comes out about him and the way he degrades women and goes after different races. In a country that made an actor like Arnie a powerful man he's every chance of pulling this off. With his extreme views though he's the kind of bloke who it wouldn't be a shock if he ended up being the latest president to be murdered because that's the personality he puts out.

Don't really care who wins, but I just wish there was an option for "this is the best polling place" on our ballots.

So Trump wins by 60 votes so quite a wide margin. I saw it happening as I said and it's the worse of two really bad candidates but now it's time for America to give him a chance and not panic. His victory speech was nothing like the shit he said during his campaign so we shall see.

Americans like us Brits are sick of the same old bullshit politicians doing nothing for the people that matter. They see Trump as a saviour and different from the norm with a fresh approach.

Also people love an underdog and with so many famous people, media outlets etc all for Hilary to win (who wasn't helped by the email scandal) it would have just made him be voted for more.

So the negative press about Trump has died down in the past few days, what's going on? Is he actually doing a decent job and sticking to his promises so people aren't complaining?
