He got counted out at Survivor Series (due to Ziggler), but I think that's it.

Quote Dolph Ziggler has reportedly signed a new two-year contract (extension) with WWE. The story goes that Ziggler might have been on his way out of the company, which could explain the weird storylines he was booked into the last few months as well as his absence, but WWE apparently offered him a really sweet deal where he has considerable freedom to pursue other projects that he decided to re-up with the company.

Other projects? He already does stand up. Movies? If he was to do that surely E would want him to do them for them and not for someone else.

That's a short contract extension. I wonder if it's got in there an automatic extension for X amount of years, after say a year if both sides are happy.

We will see tomorrow night on Smackdown if all of a sudden he's booked better because of the extension or if it's more of the same.

I saw a report saying Ziggler had signed a new deal due to them putting a offer he couldn't refuse on the table, my first thought was a guaranteed World title reign maybe even headlining a Wrestlemania? But no basically its that he will continue to put others over but has the freedom to just show up do his job and then leave immediately so he can go off and do his side project stuff.

This is a shame as I really thought we might see some bigger things for Dolph with him now approaching the later stages of his career so I thought perhaps they would reward his career longevity and loyalty to WWE and talent in the ring. But no seems he will continue in his enhancement talent role.

Looks like Ziggler will, even with 2 world title runs, will settle into a role more like that of Rowdy Roddy Piper, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Ted DiBiase, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, and Scott Hall. That really is NOT bad company whatsoever, and technically he has achieved better than all but Rude who had that WCW World International Championship which was considered a world title, but sometimes not depending on who you are talking to.

If Ziggler is happy, then I guess that is all that matters. I was kinda hoping to see Ziggler go to RoH though. Ziggler would actually be a fairly big guy there and thus get heat for being tall. That'd be some turn of events eh?

The major part of the offer that sold it was that it's a reduced date contract which allows him to prioritise other work to WWE. Ziggler is developing a positive following as an on air personality for news and comedy and it's something he wants to pursue. This is a very good deal for him.

Its a very good deal for him but it also cements him as one of the least relevant people in WWE today.

Its pretty much a guarantee that he wont come out on top in any major storyline.

This does seem a bit of a waste given he won the US Title and then just walked away from it

Id like to see him have 1 last title reign - he has the talent - hes just been a victim of bad booking

Thing is I don't think Ziggler cares anymore. Hes accepted his lot in WWE and is now content to be a clock in clock out worker, turning up doing his job then leaving not really giving two shits about the booking of his character.

Ultimately this is about him collecting a decent pay cheque and keeping his hand in with wrestling while having the time to pursue and prioritise his other interests.

Maybe he'll find legit success outside WWE with his new gig, and it'll help WWE creative to see him in a new light and give him a different storyline than make so and so look good.

I still have this gut feeling Ziggler will get his time at the top, kind of like how guys like Benoit and Guerrero sweated it out in the mid-card for years and then finally they got that World title run and were solidified as main event talents, for a time at least.
