nothing significant will happen at the top of the card until after Brock's return to UFC. if he wins, expect more of the same, if he loses, expect him to drop the title at Summer Slam, because he still won't be forced to work any of the B-shows.

they don't even seem to get that by keeping Lesnar at the top of the food chain, everyone else is by default being made midcard. I mean, they have to find dumb angles to write Strowman out of any one-on-one match with Lesnar to protect his aura, something that didn't seem to be a major concern with Reigns, but then again, they were inventive there is how he suffered the losses.

everything just feels like it's on hiatus, and I get that would annoy someone like Ambrose, who is not only being overlooked for a place in the main event because others who aren't as good or over are sometimes put ahead of him, but then he's got to tread water far too often.

Rumours are circling that Ambrose may sign a new deal now that his pal Roman is back and maybe having Dean and Roman work together is a way of tempting Dean into staying?

I'm not too bothered either way, I'm not a huge fan of Ambrose, I feel his style will work much better in a non PG environment and would have been interested to see him go somewhere like AEW.

However if he remains in WWE it's just meh, his long anticipated heel run was brief and a failure unless they plan to reboot him as a heel to feud with Roman, remains to be seen how that would go. The idea of him remaining as a mid-card face doesn't excite me at all.

Roman made comments on Raw that suggested Ambrose is leaving.

the heel run failed precisely because they then made it clear he was leaving, and he had made it clear to WWE that he wasn't resigning, so they just pretty much dropped it.

the fault there doesn't lie with him; even if he had still been unsure if he was going to re-sign, the closer it would get to the date the contract expires, he'd be pulled more and more, so definitely I can see Roman's return, and a (hopefully) fully functioning Shield run being used to try and convince him to stay. will be interesting if he does to find out what promises and guarantees he got, since the IC run was literally just a blip.

Trouble is he's basically been jobbed out since the news broke he wasn't renewing his contract, he dropped the Intercontinental title, lost clean to Rollins, lost clean to ECIII, lost clean to McIntyre and this week lost clean to Elias.

Of course I completely get this if he's headed for the exit. My guess is they now just want to squeeze one last Shield reunion out of him which if booked smart would see the Fastlane match used as a way to put McIntyre over strong, then maybe Dean turns on Roman and does the clean job for Reigns in a fairly short match at Wrestlemania.

Quote Elias is in the ring singing a song trashing Philadelphia. Dean Ambrose comes out to interrupt, and we have a match.

- Dean Ambrose vs. Elias: The opening bell sounds and both men trade strikes in the middle of the ring. Ambrose gets the upper hand and stomps a mud hole in Elias in the corner. Ambrose clotheslines Elias out to ringside and then slams him into the fan barricade. Back in the ring, Elias comes back and hits the Old School off the top. Elias then misses a shot and falls outside, and Ambrose hits a suicide dive on him. Back in the ring, Ambrose hits a series of strikes, but then he misses a shot in the corner and Elias takes him down. Elias looks for a suplex but Ambrose escapes. Ambrose hits a neckbreaker and both men are down. Ambroe is selling a back injury from Elias' attack earlier tonight. Ambrose goes up top and comes flying down for a clothesline, but Elias intercepts him with a knee to the face in mid-air. Elias follows up with the Drift Away for the three count.

Winner: Elias

- After the match, Rollins and Reigns come out to the stage and walk down to the ring to talk to Ambrose. Rollins and Reigns ask Ambrose again to re-form The Shield with them. Ambrose walks past Rollins and Reigns and exits the arena through the crowd. Corbin, McIntyre and Lashley come out to the stage, and Corbin has a mic. He says this is pathetic, and Drew says the "hounds of justice" are three stray dogs. Drew says this isn't the return Roman envisioned, and they're pathetic, and they're going to end this right now. Drew, Corbin and Lashley surround the ring, with Reigns and Rollins in it. They start brawling in the ring, and then Dean Ambrose runs back down to the ring to help. The three Shield members clear the ring. Reigns and Rollins put their fists together, then Ambrose puts his fist with theirs, and Reigns' music hits.

It's funny that Ambrose turned on his two best mates, one with cancer and yet it's them begging him to come back and not the other way around.

If he does stick around he can easily be turned back heel in a month or two.

He can cut a promo how Rollins/Reigns begged to be mates with him and he used them to get through a losing streak and how he's not better than he's ever been.
