Quote WWE.com updated their story on Dean Ambrose's arm injury earlier today, stating the following:

“An MRI has shown suspicion for a high-grade triceps tendon injury, possibly a tear, so he is undergoing surgical exploration and most likely surgical repair of the torn triceps tendon,” WWE's Dr. Chris Amann told the website “That surgery will be happening later this evening, and we should have some further updates either later tonight or tomorrow morning as to what the findings were, what the structures that were damaged were, and also a timeline for recovery.”

-- While WWE has not given a timetable for his return, surgery for a triceps injury involving a torn tendon will usually sideline an athlete for several months, so unless there is good news during the surgery (such as the tendon was not actually torn), Ambrose is not likely to be back until well into 2018.

If it's a legit injury, why did they do the backstage beatdown on him which could have made it worse?

I'm not doubting it's real because I can't see why they would give him months off for no reason.

Unless of course he's got a film to do? But I haven't seen that mentioned.

They did the beatdown angle to write him out due to the injury

This was last minute though so may have been done differently if the time had permitted.

Quote As expected, Dean Ambrose underwent successful surgery to repair an arm injury in Birmingham, Alabama.

WWE.com posted the following update on Ambrose's condition this afternoon:

Dean Ambrose undergoes successful surgery

Dean Ambrose underwent successful surgery Tuesday night to repair a high-grade triceps tendon injury, WWE.com can confirm.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Jeffrey Dugas in Birmingham, Ala., and took around 40 minutes.

"He tore some of the distal triceps tendon where it attaches to the forearm bone, called the olecranon," Dr. Dugas told WWE.com. "He basically tore about 50 percent of the triceps tendon away from the bone. So yesterday we repaired that back down to the bone where it tore off of. The surgery was very straightforward; we removed all of the extra bursal tissue — all of that extra swollen stuff around his elbow."

Dugas added that Ambrose has begun physical therapy, starting with light range-of-motion exercises, and is expecting to leave Birmingham later today.

It is unknown at this time how long Ambrose will be out of action.

E love Birmingham Alabama for the surgeries, but I would demand the legendary Dr Andrews came out of retirement for me LOL

Glad the operation was quick and if he's already being allowed to do some exercise, I can't see him out for long at all.

He's lucky the next PPV is a month away and that if he's not quite ready he can be well protected in a 30 man match.

I wish him all the best, injuries are the worst thing in the world and I wouldn't wish that on anyone

The shield are not having the best of luck first Roman gets sick then Dean gets injured I'm waiting for something to happen to Seth ( hope nothing happens though)

He’s being forced to team with Jason Jordan!!

I’m all seriousness - he was out for a while with a knee injury so he’s already had his fair share of time off

The Shield reunion hasn’t been how I imagined - they have all focused on their individual goals more than the shield as a team

Quote PWInsider reports that Dean Ambrose continues to recover from his torn tricep in Birmingham, Alabama and that he pretty much is living there while doing extensive rehab.

-- According to the @WrestleVotes Twitter account, when asked about potential SummerSlam plans this year, a source indicated that "a group of fans will like them" and a "group of fans will love them" but "a majority might be disappointed."

-- No further details were revealed on exactly what that means, but it's possible it could be referring to the polarizing character and storyline for Roman Reigns.

Treatment in Alabama is a good thing, because being there will make you want to get healthy quicker, so you can leave.

The timing was so bad. He's missed major PPVs, Saudi Arabia and now one of the most lucrative pay days of the year, the European tour.

I'm missing him and think he should get a big babyface push when he's back.

Agreed , Ambrose is very well liked and should be given a push , however maybe a true heel push , turn him on Rollins for the Jordan angle even though Rollins wasn't exactly good with it. Dean will be a very welcome sight form to me what is becoming a very boring WWE product.

I want to see Ambrose as a heel, because he'd be better than either Rollins or Reigns at the role, but I'd rather see him babyface when he returns. I want so badly just to see the Shield get back together, get the fan momentum going, and then the whole group turns heel and becomes the catalyst of a whole new gang warfare scene in WWE seeing the likes of the The Club, NeXT Evolution (Triple H in advisory, Randy Orton as WWE Champion and two new members from NXT), and a repackaged Wyatt Family where every members evolves like Braun Strowman has, as well as Sanity and Undisputed Era all run wild.

I want to see the Hounds of (in)Justice laying beatdowns on Balor, Styles, and Gallows & Anderson prompting them to form a "Club" just to survive.

I want to see them interrupt an interview segment with Triple H & Randy Orton talking about whatever, and lay the smack down on them, telling them they're old hat and boring. To it HHH & Orton announce their need to evolve.

I want to see Shield attack Wyatt, Braun Strowman and the Bludgeon brothers and tell them they're nobodies who can't touch them (the Shield) because they're family, prompting the return of a new, repackaged Wyatt Family devoid of Sister Abigail and mysticism and rambling promos but filled with newer more realistic and true to life versions of each person (except Braun because he's already done exactly that, but everyone else needs to do the same).

I want to see them attack Sanity, and find that Sanity is the only group of people they've attacked thus far that can go toe to toe with them because unlike everyone else, Sanity has the numbers, familiarity and strength to do it.

During all those different storylines and feuds going on, I want to see the Undisputed Era enter the fray like a pack of weasels that run in, attack, run away whenever confronted, and piss off the members of the shield for copying them, only to see that the UE is different because they're jokers, and total cowards that if cornered and singled out one on one are easily squashed, but are still a huge threat because they (almost) always get away without any retribution.

Once all that settles down and boils over, then I'm fine with seeing the shield unofficially break up and resuming their respective singles careers, but I want to see it done without some huge betrayal and long drawn out feud between the members. We've already seen that, I don't need to see it again, until WWE is willing to do a legit triple threat match without the help of Randy Orton or someone else involved in the match.

I would love to see The Shield do exactly that , but with Vince bound and determined to make Roman the face of the WWE it could be sometime before or if that happens. I think that when Seth went with The Authority, at that time it did wonders for his singles career and one could argue he is by far the best out of The Shield. Back when they were running do what they wanted , people did want Roman, he was the stud but when Seth stepped out it all changed

Quote PWInsider.com is reporting that Dean Ambrose is expected to return to WWE action within the next month as well as is slated to be at the Summerslam PPV and should return to TV shortly after the show.

Ambrose has been out for some time following triceps surgery last year where WWE stated he would be out nine months.

Great news. The Raw roster needs him to freshen up the top tier a bit.

Seth will have someone watching his back in his outnumbered fued and it's a easy way to introduce him gradually with some tag matches.

If he gets turned heel further down the line, I would prefer him turning on Roman to be number one contender, instead of turning on Seth, which would be much more obvious.
