Ok time to talk about the second most important date in the calendar (after the Ashes). I think we stand a good chance of going far in the tournment for a change. I think this time it's more open than in recent times. Even West Indies could go and win the thing being the host nation. I am shocked England dropped Mal Loye from the squad. He should have been in for his batting. And why pick three injured players ? We obviously haven't learned anything from the tour of Australia. I hope the players don't feel too much pressure after the decent run of form lately. South Africa are my none biased pick to win it. They are amazing at one day cricket in the past few years.

Even though England have improved in their last few games, and as you said South Africa have an impressive one-day record, it's hard not to see Australia walking it.

Still think the aussies will win despite the poor form but as for who they would play in the final it could be any one of 7.  England might get to the semis if they're lucky but aren't gonna go all the way.  I'm going for Pakistan as an outside bet or possibly Sri Lanka.

I am gona say that I dont believe Australia is going to win the World Cup this year, unless we drop Hayden and a few players who arent delivering. Hayden needs to be replaced cos he has yet to deliver in the last 20 games he has played and only gets high scores once in every 5 matches, we need the openers to deliver. Again I dont think Australia has what it takes to win especially with Symonds and Lee both possibly going to miss the Cup and with Clarke being 50-50 also.

My bet right now is South Africa as they are dominating in the One Day scene with Sri Lanka and Pakistan not far behind. I expect the final 4 to be those 3 and Australia, with England possibly coming in the top 6.

And here is the fixture of the World Cup:

Australia are in Group A alongside Scotland, Netherlands and South Africa.
England are in Group C alongside New Zealand, Canada and Kenya.

It would seem England has an easy route as does Australia with our possible loss comen to South Africa. I am looking at Australia's 15 chosen and they have chosen Brett Lee and Andrew Symonds who are both most likely going to miss due to injuries, they've also picked Matthew Hayden which IMO is a stupid move cos Haydo cant deliver and finds it difficult too.

This is Australia's 15
1. RT Ponting (captain)
2. NW Bracken
3. MJ Clarke
4. AC Gilchrist (wicketkeeper)
5. BJ Haddin (wicketkeeper)
6. ML Hayden
7. BJ Hodge
8. GB Hogg
9. MEK Hussey
10. MG Johnson
11. B Lee
12. GD McGrath
13. A Symonds
14. SW Tait
15. SR Watson

Man theres some players there I so would not be taken. Watson is over-rated IMO and hasnt done anything for us.

This is England's 15 that they are taken to the World Cup:

I'll agree that I think that Australia won't win it this year, I can see South Africa coming away with the title. Yeah Engla have an east route, New Zealand may cause some problems, especially with the way that they are playing now against Austraila, Kenya and Canada should be a walk over.

Both England and Australia have gone with risks of picking people that are England. Symonds and Lee's injuries are more serious than Vaughan, Lewis and Anderson's and we've taken the risk of only bringing one wicketkeeper when I would have put two in the team. Yeah Strauss and others can both keep but if we get into a situation where keeping is going to be important then we are going to need someone who has got experience. The main surprise for me was that Mal Loye wasn't picked, he just gives us something extra at the top of the order.

India
1. R Dravid (captain)

And u can look at the other teams on the 1st link i posted. I really cant see us winning again this year, India looks like a strong side as does South Africa, Pakistan up above also seems to have a strong side, but yeah I expect it to be India vs South Africa with Australia possibly coming into the Semi's or just missing out.

Not many teams seem to have picked a backup wicket keeper. Strauss it said other day would probably get the gloves if Nixon gets injured. However now Nixon could be in the state of mind of "It doesn't matter how badly i play because my place is safe, as they are not going to play a none keeper in my position". I hope i am wrong but the guy to me still as loads to prove. We have still to properly replace Alex Stewart. But that was always going to be easier said than done. Seems many of us think South Africa will win it.

My pick is South Africa, so what im gona do is go by 2006/07 season in Win-Loss heading to the World Cup...

Australia:
P: 23, W: 14, Lost: 8, No-Result: 1

England: P: 13, W: 6, Lost: 7

India: P: 19, W: 7, Lost: 10, No-Result: 2

Sri Lanka: P: 15, W: 7, Lost: 6, No-Result: 2

New Zealand: P: 20, W: 9, Lost: 10, No-Result: 1

Pakistan: P: 12, W: 5, L: 6, No-Result: 1

South Africa: P: 16, W: 12, L: 3, No-Result: 1

West Indies: P: 21, W: 9, Lost: 12

So there u have it, I am so going for South Africa in this, they have totally dominated the one-day scene and I believe they can do it this time again.

South Africa will certainly now be favourites to win the cup, though you can never underestimate Australia. Even though they have just had a poor run in the one-day game won't mean that they are will continue to play the same when the World Cup starts. When teams enters a big tournament they all change the way that they play and it is the way in all sports. For all we know Australia wil be brought back to reality with what has happened over the last month and maybe we'll see the Australia that we all know.

Man its not going good for the weak teams...

England destroyed Bermuda by 241 runs, England made 8/286 while Bermuda only made 45 in 22.2 overs. Dalrymple top scored with 76, Bell made 46 and Pieterson made 43.

South Africa just defeated Ireland by 35 runs. South Africa had made 192, Ireland came back with 157 and got all bowled out in 44.2 overs.

Sri Lanka killed Scotland by 159 runs. Sri Lanka made 7/294, with Scotland replying with 135.

Anyway just go to http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/wc2007/content/current/site/wc/results.html to see the other results, cos I am not going to detail them all, lol...
