part of me feels this is being done for Punk to have a programme outside of the WWE Championship if Cena is going to win at NOC.

as CSS says, this may just be to keep Punk occupied on Raw, rather than having confrontation after confrontation with Cena, so it might just run upto, maybe including, NOC.

it could be used as a device by which to generate more heat for Punk should the Boston crowd not get behind the hometown boy, which is sad if that's the case. rather than have Cena work on tweaking his character, everyone else has to work twice as hard?

i really do hope that this is just something for the next few weeks on Raw, and that Punk retains at NOC, even if a Cena win would just be to allow the Rock to pick up the win at the Rumble.

I believe Punk explained his actions toward Jerry Lawler on twitter and tweeted "He did it for Andy Kaufmann" LOL

This mini fued was always going to be pointless because nobody thought Lawler would get much positive from it.

Plenty of guys disrespect Punk but even though it's rather boring I guess it's the heelish thing to do to pick on the commentator.

A lot of good comments from Punk about how Lawler lost to Cole at Wrestlemania for example.

I'm hoping that WWE is serious about keeping Punk champion until Royal Rumble. WWE has to know that whoever the Rock faces will get boo'ed out of the building. Honestly, I don't believe having Cena boo'ed as he was against the Rock settled well with VKM.

Yeah, I can see that angle. But Boston has been 1 place that's been constantly and overwhelmingly pro-Cena.

A feud with Lawler would better in October. That's when WWE has a week of shows in Tennessee, including Lawler's hometown of Memphis. At least then it could be done to excite the local crowds and improve the gate.

The reason Punk has been getting heat on Lawler is because they don't want Punk to look good enough by putting heat on Cena.

It's a stupid idea, but we saw it with the Kane/Cena feud from a while back that there are points in feuds with John Cena where the focus of the attacks shift from attacking Cena directly and it settles on attacking someone Cena knows. Cena "rounded a corner" and conquered Kane on that one RAW, and for the rest of the time onwards, Kane's attack delegated into a series of attacking Ryder, with Cena running out and just barely missing Kane when he eventually fled. Then they had a match at whatever PPV where Cena finally got his hands on Kane.

The Rock and Brock Lesnar were the only ones that were allowed to really put heat on John Cena besides in random matches, and in those cases it didn't matter because Lesnar and The Rock were already established beyond the WWE constraints. But the WWE is still in position to bury Punk if they need to, so they are making sure not to really put Punk on Cena's level in case they do decide to bury him (which is what I see coming after he loses the championship).

If Sheamus ever turns heel again and feuds with Cena in the recent future, then I expect the exact same thing to happen to him.

Quote   PWInsider.com reports that CM Punk's apparent blade job on Monday's RAW was being talked about backstage among the wrestlers. They add that Punk continuing to refer to himself as a wrestler, being a hardcore heel to Jerry Lawler and bleeding in the main event has led to hope that part of RAW will start to have a harder edge to it

im hoping so because Raw is too PG at times - the stuff with Santino etc are killing the show IMO

It will be a one off thing. There are always things time to time that have an edgier feel to them, but they are very rare and rarely go anywhere.

Raw was an epic fail last monday and every monday before that since Heath Slater was getting jobbed out to Legends before the 1000th epidsode,  This week was....Jerry Lawler? what are they trying to make fueds now based off which legend gets created in WWE 12 video game. Next year it will be Mike Tyson.lol

3 hours of circus acts and bad acting, you might get a whole 20 minutes of wrestling out of watching, I set my DVR to record, then later in the week it gets skipped to the moments that look entertaining.

I do alot of skipping when I watch Raw.

WWE needs a better writing team to atleast connect to today's audience, its like they dont even try any more....

what I mean by that is the fact that their are no Diva fueds worth while or even lasting longer then a 90 second promo.

No championship is important other than the WWE and the WHC.

Like Vince Russo said, The belts are just props, well they sure as hell are now, its sad because the IC championship was so dynamic in the 90's, its become a shell of its former self, and a mockery of a championship now.

Rybacks overrated, and un-original,

theirs too much to complain about, or critize, Im not that hard to please as a fan, but somethings got to give,

Its like every one that ever had a legitimate buzz they find a way to either down play (Zack Rider, Tamina Snuka, ect) or add some idiotic b.s to their character that makes them more cartoonish, or atleast unfavorable compared to their generic alternative (CM punk, D Bryan)

News flash, Cena still sucks. lol, if they put the belt on him, no need to watch until the Rock comes back...

he'll probably get dumbed down also,....

There's been a lot more than 20 minutes of wrestling on Raw since forever. I'm lazy, but I'm sure Thundarr could tell you the last time we had that little wrestling on the show.

Divas are shit.

Things don't need to be original to be good - see RoH (which is also shit, but I don't know, I get the feeling you like it)

Tamina Snuka never had buzz and Zack Ryder is awful. What is unfavourable about Punk or Bryan?

The Rock hasn't been dumbed down since he got back, he's not going to be dumbed down anytime soon either. But he is shit.

You seem to be very hard to please.
