Chicago next week for RAW is going to be an interesting show as it relates to the whereabouts of CM Punk. The only way to look at these challenging weeks, something I learned from the Monday Night Wars, is to embrace the challenge and have fun with it. One thing is for sure, the Chicago crowd is always one of the best in the universe and they alone should help make the night interesting.

I'd be shocked to see Punk in Chicago but I'd certainly enjoy it. As Gorilla would say, "highly Unlikely."

Will Punk return at WM30? Steve Austin thinks so as that's what he said on the Ross Report podcast last Wednesday.

I don't think management will be too worried about fans spoiling the show next monday. They have dealt with much worse things before be it court cases, death of Owen Hart, talent leaving etc.

If he's not seen next monday my opinion of him will be even lower than it already is.

Even if he doesn't want to wrestle or be seen anytime soon he can make an effort to turn up to his home venue to try and calm the crowd down before he pisses off again.

Personally I'm highly skeptical of all the rumors saying CM Punk will be back tomorrow on Raw, but it sure would be nice.

EDIT:

http://www.examiner.com/article/wwe-raw-spoilers-2014-cm-punk-returns-to-wwe-live-on-monday-s-raw

Well that sounds fairly definite. Some wiggle room to be sure, but that is about as concrete a spoiler as I've ever seen.

As Steve Austin said on my podcast, the Ross Report, which drops later today and officially on Wednesday, I'd still not rule out CM Punk's return to WWE in time for a WrestleMania match but my gut feeling is that ship is about to sail. Perhaps it already has.

Punk looks even more of a dick now that he can't be arsed turning up to his home crowd arena.

It's not like he would have to be on the road again full time. It could have been a one off appearance.

He could have come out, got cheap pops saying he loves wrestling and the fans and basically let them know that he's going to take some time away from the ring to rest up and heel injuries but they will see him again soon etc.

I'm thinking that the rumors of him appearing at the show were probably started by WWE. They knew they were going into hostile territory and did what they could to keep the upstarts from being too organized.

The crowd still got their point across about wanting to see Punk back. And that only helps him in negotiating a new deal.

I've been listening to bits from Steve Austin's podcasts. He makes a great point about Punk has to be frustrated that he's never been given the chance to be The Man. Even during his 434 days, he was firmed #2 with the company behind John Cena. And no matter how popular or how much merchandise a guy sell, to ultimately be The Man it takes the company's full support and the machinery to get behind him to make it happen. But for whatever reasons, the company never did that. They keep the machinery behind John Cena and gave Punk only auxiliary support. Yes, he was the champ for over a year and had the longest reign in 25 years... but the company still keep Cena in the main event.

There's also been stories that Punk isn't just unhappy with his own position, but with the way the company has treated others. That would include Daniel Bryan, who Punk thinks highly of. Punk was vocal about the company over-relying on part-timers to build up WrestleMania the last couple of years, and this year looks to be the same. And honestly, I agree with him on that point. WWF/E has always liked to bring in "big name" guests for WM, but the last 3 years WM has been centered around part-timers. They weren't just an added feature, they were the show.

From the get-go it has sounded like Punk was standing up against part-timers getting slotted into the main event at WrestleMania. Even his pipebomb pointed this out when he mentioned that "the fact that DWAYNE is in the main event at WrestleMania and I'm not makes me sick!" But then Batista gets the same kind of treatment and here we are again, him pissed off and taking a stand. It has not sounded as though he was just unhappy with his own position, but a lot of the guys. I'm in full agreement with Thundarr there. My very first impression was that Punk walked out because Daniel Bryan wasn't getting pushed, not that he (Punk) wasn't getting pushed.

/shrug. But that's just my impression.

I'm sure that we are all worried that Punk won't be in the next WWE studios Blockbuster

Makes me laugh that people still think this is some sort of elaborate work, CM Punk was badly banged up and burned out from the road, he was likely taking a sabbatical when his current deal expires but I think he saw red when he heard he wasn't getting a Wrestlemania main-event spot and was pissed about the part-timers coming back and stealing the spots from the hard working full-timers, so he stormed out earlier than planned.

He'll come back eventually I'm sure but I think it could easily be a good year maybe more before we see him in WWE again, and when he does come back it will probably be on some sort of reduced schedule.

I've always thought he's over-rated, his departure opens up a top spot for a new talent to step up.

On his podcast Steve Austin has repeatedly said that Punk will return to WWE because he's in the prime of his career. Punk is 35 and has still some big money years to go. I don't blame him for being sick of seeing the part-timers coming in and getting the big money main event spots. But WWE has being doing that since the 1st WM when they brought in Mr. T.

Even if Punk has saved his money and (hopefully) made some sound investments, he has to also be smart enough to know that he's still got 3-4 years that he could be making top tier money with WWE. There's still some big achievements still waiting for him in WWE, most notably winning the Royal Rumble.

Right now I think that WWE should be trying to get Punk back in the company by June 1st. Because that when they have the Payback PPV in Chicago. Even with the "CM Punk" chants largely dying down, they will definitely be back in Chicago. Plus that will give Punk near 5 months to recharge.

I will say that I've been impressed with how Punk has remained silent during all of this. He hasn't sounded off on his Twitter, nor done any "shoot" interviews. Keeping quiet gives a bit of mystery to it all and that is keeping people talking more. If Punk were to sound off, then all that mystique would evaporate.

I'm hoping he returns at WM and interferes in the World Title match.

Orton and Bats are double teaming D-Bry when CM Punks music hits, the crowds erupts as he makes the save. The match goes on and D-Bry is heading for the win when either Punk double crosses him and give the win to Orton/Bats, he would then be able to hang the fact they are only champ because of him over their heads in the lead up to Payback with the chance for that main event to be a fatal fourway.

D-Bry and Punk could then feud in a smarks wet dream without taking them out of the title picture.

Nah. I think it would better for Punk to come back further down the line. Reportedly Kane has talked about retiring. I think that Punk should come back and then beat Kane in a retirement match. They could easily kayfabe that it was Kane throwing Punk through the announce table at Royal Rumble that injured Punk and thus explain away Punk's departure.
