Quote Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch

Paige is out for commentary first. WWE Divas Champion Charlotte is out next with her dad Ric Flair for this non-title match. Becky Lynch makes her way out next.

They do a “pinkie swear” to start the match before locking up. They trade holds to start as we see Team BAD backstage watching and eating popcorn. Charlotte goes for the Figure Four after several reversals. Becky kicks her away and we get a stalemate. Flair is loving it at ringside. They lock back up and go back to trading holds on the mat.

Charlotte tosses Becky around the ring with the head scissors and motions for her to bring it. Charlotte with chops now. Becky blocks her and nails a few uppercuts. Becky with a springboard kick in the corner. Becky charges but Charlotte takes her down for a 2 count. Becky with arm drags. Charlotte goes down on her ankle coming out of the corner. Flair gets on the apron to talk to Becky. It was a ruse as Charlotte bounces back up and takes advantage of the distraction to get the roll up on Becky.

Winner: Charlotte

– After the bell, Charlotte goes to the ramp with her dad and the title. Becky is shocked and looks on in disbelief.

I don't even think the inevitable heel turn can make my interest in Charlotte improve.

When the real reason for what Charlotte did comes out it's probably going to be because Becky was cheeky to want a title shot and what kind of friend would do that etc...

I hate these faking an injury angles when the ref stops the opponent attacking them. It's still an ongoing match so should be allowed to carry on.

Charlotte has turned heel in order to beat Becky. Becky has forced Charlotte to tap. It wasn't a classic, but it wasn't bad. Tonight on Raw Charlotte was advertised for a match with Brie Bella, and Becky attacked her. All of this has been pretty straightforward, and exactly as you'd expect. Ric Flair showed signs of his former brilliance in sticking up for Charlotte and cancelling the match.

The best part though came backstage when Becky cut a very good promo about how Charlotte turned her back on everything the two of them stood for when they came up from NXT. Not exactly groundbreaking subject matter, but Becky's delivery was impassioned enough to come across as believable and entertaining.

I do hope she takes the title from Charlotte at the Rumble. She deserves it and I really think she is going to be forgotten about if she doesn't.

EDIT: Mick Foley has also posted on facebook that he would like to be in Becky Lynch's corner as a means to neutralize Ric Flair in Charlotte's corner. The logic being that 1, he's a big fan of Becky's and 2, he's got a history with Ric Flair that would play into this story well. I actually wouldn't mind seeing this at all, and I think it would add to the importance of their feud moreso than detract from it.

Actually, the big risk of having Mick Foley and Ric Flair at the same time in their respective corner would be that they would very well overshadow the match between Charlotte & Becky Lynch. Not saying that this would happen for sure but to me, the possibility it does is very real.

Becky said on Smackdown tonight while she challenged Charlotte that she can bring whoever Charlotte wants because she won't be distracted. This leaves me to believe that she will have someone in her corner at the Royal Rumble though.

Well, this will be a PPV level match, not some crap Raw match where they're supposed to leave them wanting more. As long as they get 15-20 minutes of time in the ring, and I think that's actually reasonable here at this PPV, they ought to put on a match akin to the quality you'd see in NXT. So long as THAT happens, Foley and Flair would just amplify the importance of the match and the division, rather than overshadow it.

But I could be wrong on many different things there, so I guess we'll see. I still have hope though.

A boring fued that's been used mainly to stroke the ego of Naitch by getting him camera time.

Charlotte was beating people all the time yet a simple heel turn and she now needs her pensioner Papa to help her or she'd hardly ever win. That's what pisses me off about wrestling.

I hope Becky has nobody in her corner on sunday because then i'd just be annoyed they are there with no build up.

This has NOT been boring. They've been better than most other storylines going on right now, including the McMahon/Reigns feud.

I agree that at this point, I hope Becky is alone, and wins. Enter either Sasha Banks or Paige and we get yet another fresh feud.

There's a lot of mileage you can get from the current crop of women. Especially since Paige and Natty haven't wrestled most of them after they got their current gimmicks (Paige wrestled them all as nameless jobbers, and even Natty wrestled a number of them too, but neither has wrestled "The Boss" or "The Lasskicker" or "The Nature Girl") until getting to the main roster, and with Bayley likely on her way up following WrestleMania, it's just going to get better.

The main roster sucks in general, but this group of women have definitely made the divas watchable (if only) and that's a huge improvement of the general opinion that was so popular just a few years ago that WWE just needs to close the divas division altogether after Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres retired, and the Bellas hadn't yet returned.

Remember how bad that was? AJ, Kaitlyn, and farting Natty? It is WAY better now.

Way better now but you still clearly see that Total Divas is the typical depiction of what Vince wants the girls to be seen at on WWE TV. That's no help for girls like Charlotte & Becky Lynch. It's gonna take a long time for them to get the respect of the casual audience because that's how the audience has been conditioned to perceive the Divas, as opposed to NXT where they're seen as legitimate athletes.

Thing is that's pretty typical of how the guys behave these days too, except for the photoshoots in their undies.

I think as long as WWE just keeps going the way they are with this storyline, with future storylines too, they'll be ok. Becky Lynch is looking pretty damned good on her own merits, and as long as they get good time and put on an NXT style match at the Royal Rumble I don't see how it does anything but gain respect for the division.

Creative don't have enough faith in the pair so added a fucking pensioner to a Divas fued for "entertainment".

Charlotte does a simple heel turn and automatically turns so shit in the ring she needs her dad to win matches when he can barely walk properly anymore.

I know that's how wrestling works but it's bad enough seeing a ripped woman (yuck) stealing all her dads manerisms instead of being her own person. Then in the other corner you have Becky who's booked as slightly less bubblegum than Bailey, who's black roots showing for weeks through her bronze hair should have been dealt with by the hair and make up department by now.

It makes perfect sense to have a wrestler's father who obviously can't retire because he lacks any and all business sense to manage his money well, take a job as a manager. It's Ric fucking Flair for Christ's sake. It's not like Charlotte's father is Jim Neidhart, but even so just like with Natty, Charlotte's the one with the brains in the family. Pro wrestling's the ONLY thing Ric Flair is any good at, and he's one of the greatest of all time. They'd be stupid not to use him as a heel manager. They're a great team.

I hope when WWE signs Cody Hall, they have enough sense to bring in Scott Hall as his manager too.

Show me a face that turns heel and then doesn't become a cowardly twat. I know you were complaining about Seth Rollins doing the same thing. I don't remember you complaining about Seth Rollins being unattractive though and therefore uninteresting and untalented.

Seriously, every singles match on the Royal Rumble card is more interesting that the McMahon vs Roman Reigns storyline.
