Quote WWE announced the following today:

BREAKING: #UniversalChampion @BrockLesnar re-signs with @WWE and will defend his championship against @WWERomanReigns in a #SteelCage match at WWE Greatest Royal Rumble! #WWEGRR https://t.co/rr4xAzlrGs

— WWE (@WWE) April 9, 2018

-- They then sent the following to us:

For Immediate Release

BROCK LESNAR™ RE-SIGNS WITH WWE®

STAMFORD, Conn., April 9, 2018 – WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon announced today that Brock Lesnar has re-signed with WWE. Lesnar’s next appearance is scheduled for the Greatest Royal Rumble event, where he will compete against Roman Reigns™ in a Steel Cage Universal Championship match at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Friday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. AST.

Nobody should be shocked at this. It's easy money for him to phone it in a few times a year.

He's too old and broken down for UFC and whilst it would be easy money, I think more than cash he wouldn't want to jepodise his legacy and get shown up there in lowly fights.

We can add Saudi Arabia to the list of countries he's competed in since his original return. Still waiting for him to come to the UK.

So the real question is why did Dana White go along with the Kayfabe about signing to UFC?

They further state that Lesnar proceeded to then throw his WWE Universal title belt either at McMahon directly or at a wall before walking away.

-- The @WrestleVotes Twitter account relays a related story, saying that Brock had words with people backstage after the match but it did not get physical as others stepped in to ensure that the situation did not escalate. This report does not specifically name McMahon.

-- If the above is true, it is unclear what exactly would have caused the issues but there are rumors that perhaps Lesnar went off script towards the end of the match against Roman Reigns or it's also possible that WWE officials were not happy at his stiff elbow that caught Reigns and lead to a ton of blood spilling out.

Not sure what he's got to be pissed about when he got to retain in the main event.

If he showed that much disrespect for his title, then I would have him on Raw tonight losing it.

But lets be right he probably won't be seen again now for a while.

Like I said in the WrestleMania chat last night; I have a theory that they went home early in the WrestleMania main event due to the excessive blood on Reigns. I think the match was actually scheduled to go longer; and while Brock is stiff (which I love), I don't think that "crimson mask" as Gordon Solie used to say was intended. I believe they had more things planned for the match which was cut as they wanted to be cleaner (i.e. everything Rico likes and I hate.) Brock knew that the fans would see the match as a lackluster one due to this reason, if my theory is right.

Once again, this is just a theory of mine.

Favour for a mate? Brock has made him a shitload of money and all the speculation gave UFC and their PPV last weekend free publicity due to the Wrestlemania link.

Quote According to Wade Keller at PW Torch, the reason that Vince McMahon was upset at Brock Lesnar after Sunday's WrestleMania was due to his stiff elbows which busted open Roman Reigns, causing a massive amount of blood to be shown. However, some people backstage were confused at McMahon's anger because WWE cameras didn't shy away from focusing on the blood spilling out. The report also adds that Vince was also not happy that the German Announce team was not told of the table bump spot, which implies that Lesnar (and possibly Reigns) inserted that spot in themselves.

I found that strange too. E drew attention to the blood and on the Network it hasn't been blacked out.

I didn't mind the blood. I like his stiff style and natural bleeding I have no issue with.

Word is Brock's new deal is short-term and comes with a option for a UFC fight if he chooses to do it, it could even be as short as ending after Summerslam as it had been said there was a option to extend his current deal until then.

I think this story coming out of Wrestlemania is just exaggerated rumours, I think the blood spot was planned and given how much Roman bled chances are he bladed, the booking of the match was to clearly to add as much drama as possible to stop the crowd completely rejecting it, that's why they went with multiple kicking out of finishers, plenty of hard hitting spots and of course the blood.

Quote Dave Meltzer shed more details on the backstage altercation between Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar following the WrestleMania main event. According to Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Lesnar threw the belt against a wall and at Vince McMahon. He was unhappy but the reasons were not known. Shane McMahon was all set to jump in and acted like he wanted to fight Lesnar, but nothing happened and Brock and Paul Heyman simply left the building.

-- Meltzer added that there were words exchanged and it was said to be a "scene" for sure and he suggested it could be part of a work, but the people who witnessed it didn't believe that it was. However, these same people note that they were all ultimately worked on the finish of the Lesnar/Reigns match so anything is possible.

47 year old Shane wanting to fight Brock, that is the funniest part of the whole story.

I think it's a work, where they are trying to make it seem like the Mcmahon family don't get on with Heyman and Lesnar.

If they had legit hatred Brock wouldn't have been given a new contract.

So to put things in perspective:

Since its inception, 4 men have held the Universal Championship.
The first 3 title holders (Finn, KO, Goldberg) have held it a combined 217 days.

Brock Lesnar has held it for 374 and counting. That's about half a year LONGER than the 3 others combined.

As things play out, and you can call this me donning my tin-foil hat, it almost looks like this title was created just so they had something to give to Lesnar.

I'm sorry, at this point I'm over the shtick of Brock only showing up 7 or 8 times out of the year and holding the title hostage. Sometimes I've forgotten that the title even exists. I'm hoping he does leave here soon, or at least drops the title.

Multiple MMA sites are saying the new deal is a multi-year WWE-UFC cross promotion deal. If that is indeed the case (which I'm inclined to believe it is based on most wrestling reporters only speculating), it's the best possible deal anyone could have come up with. It may not feel like it, but he is still an attraction. Not only that, he's easily one of the biggest attractions in both companies, if not the biggest, he's well known and super marketable, and has proven time and time again he's gonna bring in the crowds and he's gonna bring in the Network subscribers and people are gonna buy the fights.

We get the big money match with Bobby Lashley, and a whole other plethora of dream matches such as Jericho and Nakamura. Can't get any better than that.
