Jim Ross Website: Bobby Heenan, who has had a helluva tough go of it in recent weeks with two surgeries to rebuild his jaw, is in a rehab facility in Florida and is reportedly getting stronger by the day, but still isn’t able to talk or to eat solid foods. From what I am told "The Brain" is making the nurses laugh with his physical antics and by what he writes on his blackboard with which he uses to communicate. The Hall of Famer is arguably the greatest manager of all time and was much underrated as a wrestler. Back in ‘93 and not long after I had arrived in the WWE, the Brain, the late Lord Alfred Hayes, and yours truly traveled to the UK to do a TV broadcast from Sheffield. The airline upgraded all three of us to first class from business class and we were the only 3 sitting in first, which was staffed with 3 flight attendants. I don’t remember how many liquids we consumed on the long flight, but I do recall that the airline ran out of several "flavors" of spirits. I laughed so hard at Bobby’s stories that I had to move to another seat to distance myself from him just so I could get some sleep. Please keep "The Brain" in your thoughts and prayers as he continues to rehab his way back to better health.
well sounds like a top bloke and hope he gets better soon. having two jaw surgerys would be very tough, but it sounds like he is in good spirits at least.
Qouth the draven, nevermore.

Quote According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE hall of famer Bobby "The Brain" Heenan finally came home from the hospital during the last week of March after a several month stay. Heenan is doing better, but still can't speak.

Note to webmasters/reporters: If reproducing news from this website, please include a hyperlink to www.gerweck.net

The news that he's come home now is excellent. It's taken a very long time for him to get to this stage, but it's harder to recover from surgery when you're older. It's a shame he can't speak, but from earlier reports it doesn't seem to be getting him down. He's taken a negative thing and trying to be as positive as possible. He may never get back the full use of speech, but he can at least be surrounded by friends and family now. That beats getting depressed in an hospital.

What a shame that the best ever colour commentater cant speak now. Bobby made me laugh so much when I was growing up. I hope he can get his voice back, but I'm glad he is on the mend!

From Jim Ross Website...............

Quote We received a nice email from Bobby Heenan’s wife, Cindi, this week giving us the latest update on our dear friend "The Brain". Bobby is home…still going thru physical and speech therapy, has had yet another surgery to "tweak" the jaw bone and is progressing slowly but surely. Few men in this business whether it be in the ring, at ringside, or behind a mic ever had the talent that Bobby "The Brain"Heenan possessed. People ask me all the time why there are no great managers on TV any more, why no more "Heenans", etc and the answer is simple….talents like Bobby Heenan come along once in a lifetime, plus where would these future managers be trained? I have my thoughts on this matter, including if a talented but perhaps smaller individual who can verbalize and has some athleticism about them, that they should be in Tampa being schooled on the art form of being a successful wrestling manager.

Someone younger and who hadn't had the hard life that Bobby as had wouldn't have probably needed so many surgeries. I'm sure JR asked his wife first if he could mention this other surgery. As the best to my knowledge, it wasn't known on dirt sheets (unless they didn't think it was newsworthy, which isn't very likely). It must be so depressing for such a great talker to have to learn how to speak once more, at his time of life. I hope he's seen the last of hospitals now.
