Quote Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

» It's been said that a follow-up on the Shaquille O'Neal vs. Big Show angle has been put on ice for the time being. NBA pre-season started two weeks ago, so a potential match is definitely out of the question until at least the summer.

* When Shaq presented Raw I mentioned at the time that I thought it was the start of something.

* If they have a match Wrestlemania 26 might be pushing it because the NBA season doesn't finish long before then.

* The next big event Summerslam would be too close to the following season and I don't think Shaq would be part of a B event.

I thought people were jumping the gun way too fast on calling this a storyline.  The NBA would be stupid to allow Shaq to do this while still an active player.  He doesn't get to take months off between games like Mayweather does in between fights.

Why dont WWE stop appealing for mainstream acceptance and start providing some decent wrestling for wrestling fans to watch? I dont want to see wrestlers v celebrities all the time, it sucks. K-Fed v Cena, Trump v McMahon, Rourke v Jericho, Jackass v WWE, i dont care. Its stupid.

Actually Show and Shaq would  be more believable than Show and Mayweather, since Big Show could toss Mayweather around like a rag doll if he wanted to. With Shaq being taller than Show and pretty bulky, it´s not that likely...

But I agree with Maria, with Shaq being an active player, I can only see that happening after the season ended and then only for a short one time match appearance.

I can't see the team Shaq plays for allowing this even if it is in the off season.  I wouldn't want my player that makes as much money as Shaq does to do something like this.  Once he retires then he's on his own but if he was making my money then I'd tell him, "no, you are not doing that"

Same case can be made for Rock but Rock can always be replaced in a movie role.  Shaq can't as a team that relies on him would be stupid to allow this.

I think with the Rock it´s a different story as he has been in the ring for years and knows how to move and how to act to not get hurt. That´s like riding a bicycle, yes you might get rusty but you don´t forget it.....

Quote From Jim Ross Website

Never was keen on a potential Big Show vs Shaq Wrestlemania, one on one match as I never had the gut feeling that Shaq would commit to being in 'show shape' or putting in the in ring time to develop a passable, skill set for the one off bout at WWE's biggest event of the year. I am still of the mindset that Show and Shaq would hve been a marketable, 'attraction' duo against a skilled heel, team but it looks like that is history too, so I expect Big Show to be in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal at Wrestlemania.

I feel sorry for Big Show that this doesn't look like happening, as he's been after it for months and time is running out in his career to have more meaningful matches on the big stage like this one would have been.

It appears that Shaq was all mouth about wanting to work a match and therefore asked for ridiculous money to try and save face when the amount quite rightly puts E off signing him.

The only plus point is E didn't waste a single on screen moment building it up as it was all done through the social media of the pair of them.

The Big Slow (Paul Wight), is a waste of time these days, and who really wants him anymore ?
And if the 'Shaq attack' thing was meant to happen, then its not the Big Slows fault. But once again, do we really care about him ?

Quote Shaquille O'Neal released his latest podcast today and shed light on the missed match with Big Show at WrestleMania 33.

"Because they kept playing. First, they said it was me and Big Show. Then, they said it was going to be three and three. Then, they cancelled it so when they cancelled it, I made other arrangements. And then they tried to call back and tried to get it done, and I just said, ‘I’m not going to do it.’ They messed it up."

-- Shaq's co-host, John Kincade, then suggested that Shaq was given a script that indicated he was going to lose and that he didn't want to lose the match, but Shaq responded that he would have been fine with losing "for the kids."

This thread has been going seven years, so whilst it didn't happen this Mania just gone it's had plenty of time in the past years to happen.

Shaq says he wouldn't have minded losing, but only because he probably knows that wouldn't have happened as celebrities don't lose.

The match would have been shit, but it would have got shitloads of mainstream publicity in the media.

That sounds pretty legit, actually. Given the way that WWE is run creatively, I don't blame Shaq in the least. It's too bad Big Show is the one that gets hurt most by it though.
