As soon as Heath Slater and Rhyno showed up in the tag team eliminator, it was pretty obvious either Authors of Pain or Sanity we're about to debut. I was totally stoked to see them, squash Slater and Rhyno, and then they left Paul Ellering. That sucks. I was really looking forward to seeing him cut their promos for them. I don't care to see them go on their own at all. Paul Ellering as a Mastermind directing a couple of mindless weapons is far more interesting IMO. Bleh.

Quote Heath Slater and Rhyno come to the ring and they remind everyone that they were the first SmackDown Tag Team Champions, and then they issue an open challenge to any tag team who wants a piece of them. The Authors of Pain answer the challenge and the Authors come down to the ring with Paul Ellering.

- Authors of Pain vs. Slater & Rhyno: Slater hits a superkick early on, but Rezar no-sells it and takes down Slater. Rezar pummels on Slater, then Akam tags in and they clean house. They double team Slater with the Last Chapter for the three count after a short match.

Winners: Authors of Pain

- After the match, The Authors seem to tell Ellering to stay at ringside and leave them alone. It appears The Authors have fired their manager Ellering.

It had no shock value. Crowd were chanting AOP before they came out, as it was that obvious who would take up the challenge.

Just telling Ellering to not walk with them will have looked confusing to a lot of fans as to what it means.

Surely Ellering could have taken a bump of some sort. It wouldn't have had to be anything too hard.

And on the first night, WWE got rid of everything that made Authors of Pain interesting to me. Authors of Pain are a body with no brains now. Bleh.

I'm of the exact same opinion

They should have at least had them under his guidance for a few weeks or until they picked up their first lost and then sort of had a "going off the rails" gimmick where they just destroy anyone and everyone

Quote The Authors of Pain vs. Rhyno & Heath Slater: We see a pre-taped promo by Slater and Rhyno before the match. The Authors totally dominate this one off the opening bell, then they focus on Slater. Slater fights free from Rezar and gets the hot tag to Rhyno. Rhyno hits an elbow to the face and then a flying clothesline. Rhyno knocks Akam off the apron, then hits a spear in the corner. Rhyno hits a belly to belly suplex on Rezar for a two count. Akam tags in and they hit the Last Chapter on Rhyno for the three count.

Winners: The Authors of Pain

The crowd was dead waiting for the predictable win for them against the jobber team.

They are being built up slowly, but starting from far too low down on the card.

They are pretty much a Raw version of Bludgeon Brothers. Moody heels, don't hear them talk, come out to squash a team and then walk off again.

Removing Ellering was a bad move, I already worry that this team will flop on the main roster without anyone to do the verbal work for them. As mentioned only their second Raw appearance and the crowd was dead, fair enough the predictable win over a pair of jobbers may have been a factor in that.

If Ellering isn’t willing to do the Raw schedule they should give them someone new to do the promo work.

They are currently just going through the motions of establishing them on the main roster as much of the audience wont actually know who they are (non NXT fans)

After a few weeks / months id expect we see more of their personality and only then will we be able to tell how bad a move it was getting rid of Ellering

Quote The Authors of Pain vs. John Paul & Francois: The Authors are up against some local enhancement talent. The jobbers do an interview backstage with Charly Caruso where they speak some french. Rezar starts off with a big boot on Francois, then John Paul tags in. John throws some right hands, but Rezar drops him with a right hand, and then tags in Akam. They do the Super Collider on the jobbers, and then the Last Chapter on John Paul for the win.

Winners: The Authors of Pain

- The Authors cut a promo after the match about the Book of Pain, and they say there will be a chapter for every team on RAW.

I would call it the piss break, but it was so short if you'd have gone to the toilet you would have missed some of the rest of the show.

Very glad they barely spoke, because the little bit they did was bad enough to listen to.

If they don't get given a relevant mouthpiece or bring back Ellering just for Raw and PPVs, they are going to be like Ascension by next year.

Yeah they seem a bit lost without Ellering and now just a few weeks in the reaction to them is lukewarm at best.

WWE have some work to do to ensure that they don't go the same route as the Ascension and end up being comedy jobbers at the bottom of the card.

Because they are currently just going through the process of becoming established on the brand and getting regular TV time

I remember everyone said the same about Asuka and I said at the time that it wouldnt last long - which it didnt and im expecting the same from AOP.

Theyll soon be involved in a decent feud/storyline and the reactions etc will follow
