Quote According to a report from The Sportster, WWE is looking to host an event at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground). The venue can hold over 100,000 fans and is the 10th largest stadium in the world. The stadium hosted the 1956 Summer Olympics, the 2006 Commonwealth Games, several FIFA World Cup qualifiers and a Guns N’ Roses concert in 2017.

According to The Sportster report, WWE’s goal is to sell out as much of the arena as possible in order to create an event on the scale of WrestleMania 32 (101,763), WrestleMania III in Pontiac, Michigan at (93,173), WrestleMania 29 in East Rutherford, NJ, (80,676), SummerSlam 1992 in London, England (80,355), and WrestleMania 23 in Detroit, Michigan at (80,103).

That would be great. It's a wonderful venue (hence the Sporting Bucket List mention) and they would have no problem at all getting a six figure crowd.

It would be great to watch a live E event at sunday morning breakfast, instead of at a stupid time.

I have the original Global Warming on DVD and the current roster would sell tickets just as well.

Quote As noted, WWE is reportedly looking at holding what could be their most attended event in history in 2018. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is looking to host more big events going forward, and WWE is looking to capitalize on that fact.
The venue has a capacity to seat over 100,000 fans and is the tenth largest stadium in the world. It has hosted such events in the past as the 1954 Summer Olympics, 2006 Commonwealth Games and multiple FIFA World Cup games, just to name a few.
According to The Herald Sun out of Victoria, Australia, WWE has partnered up with Visit Victoria to hold a show in October, one week after the AFL Grand Final on September 29th. The announcement regarding the event is expected to be made during WrestleMania 34 on April 8th.
The report also states that the show would be a pay-per-view event, with the company looking to bring in names such as The Undertaker, Rey Mysterio and John Cena. It is estimated that the event would bring over $100 million to the state's economy, along with 900 jobs.
WWE is aiming to sell out the venue. Regarding their past highly-attended events, 101,763 fans reportedly attended WrestleMania 32, although that number has been disputed by multiple sources. Prior to that, WrestleMania III had nearly 80,000 fans in attendance (although 93,173 was the announced figure), WrestleMania 29 had 80,676 announced fans in attendance, SummerSlam '92 had 80,355 fans and WrestleMania 23 had 80,103 fans announced.

While I wish it could've been done at ANZ stadium in Sydney I am truly excited at a possible PPV being held here in Australia it would be one of the greatest thing in the world to have that happen, I'm not expecting Wrestlemania but to have even a b grade PPV would be great and it would be good to have the WWE here to scout some of the independent guys we have here like Adam Brooks.

Quote There remains no confirmation or even information on the rumored WWE supershow in Melbourne, Australia that was slated for October 6. It was mentioned on TV and reported in the Australian media but WWE has yet to make any official announcement.

-- According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are "snags" but nobody has confirmed what those are other than it was some part of the deal that is holding things up. It isn't even known if these "snags" are something that will ultimately prevent the event from happening or if it's something that can be worked out.

I had noticed it's gone quiet on announcements. I hope we will still see it happen.

If they can get around the snags Saudi Arabia put in front of them (women, amount of people sent there, 36 hours to get there as JR said on his podcast), they can piss a show in Australia.

Be cool seeing how many on the west coast of America (such as Len lol) decide to watch it live at a similar time to UK have to watch USA pay per views monthly.

As much fun as it would be to personally attend the show it is nothing more then a hyped up house show one I don't particulary feel like going to Melbourne to see it the tickets are just too much for me to afford with everything else going on and I've already seen Triple H vs Undertaker live ( I was at Wrestlemania 28) and most of the roster already I don't need to see that match again especially when both guys are quite past their prime.

I read a report recently that stated WWE want to run at least one show per year on foreign soil similar to the Greatest Royal Rumble from Saudi Arabia and the Supershow in Australia, it said the annual show will be a PPV/Network special and will be a show on a par with Wrestlemania in terms of size and spectacle. London was mentioned as one of the possible locations.

If WWE run a Wrestlemania level event in London I would definitely get tickets.

I will probably watch a bit live over saturday morning breakfast and then catch up with the rest later as i'm usually out somewhere and if football season starts well I hope to travel to Peterborough that day.

As a big cricket fan who loves the Ashes, I can vouch as someone from outside of Australia about what a brilliant venue packed with so much history the MCG is. As I think I mentioned in the bucket list thread I would love to watch England play there one boxing day in the first day of the 3rd ashes test.

Even with the ticket prices I would be really shocked if the live gate doesn't crack 100,000. People will be travelling to Melbourne from Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart and many other places. Heck you can bet folks from New Zealand will travel over too.

Quote WWE has announced that Kane would be in The Undertaker’s corner when he battles Triple H, who will have WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels in his corner, at the Super Show-Down event.

The WWE Super Show-Down pay-per-view event takes place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne, Australia and will air on the WWE Network. Both Raw and SmackDown brands will be featured. Here is the updated card:

Singles Match: Triple H (with Shawn Michaels) vs. The Undertaker (with Kane)

#1 Contender’s Match: Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

WWE Title Match AJ Styles © vs. Samoa Joe

WWE Cruiserweight Title Match: Cedric Alexander © vs. Buddy Murphy

Tag Team Match: John Cena and Bobby Lashley vs. Elias and Kevin Owens

Six-Man Tag Team Match: The Shield vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre

Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Ronda Rousey & The Bella Twins vs. The Riott Squad

Tag Team Match: Asuka & Naomi vs. The IIconnics

SmackDown Tag Team Title Match: The New Day © vs. The Bar

It’s actually a pretty stacked card and I hope we see some storyline developments here rather than just a more or less throwaway event.

I expect to see the Bellas turn on Rousey here and maybe even a title change in the Samoa Joe/AJ Styles match.

I expect The Undertaker vs Triple H to headline the show and the inclusion of Kane and HBK suggests the rumoured Shawn/HHH vs Kane/Taker match will be happening later this year.

I plan to go away to Peterborough that day for the football, but hope to watch some at breakfast before setting off. Doubt I would see much live though as I think it starts 10 am UK time and I expected it to be an hour or two earlier.

The crowd will be really loud like it was for Global Warning that I still have on DVD. It might be because I am a cricket fan and the Ashes between Australia and England is the biggest series in the sport, but MCG is an iconic venue. The most well known in the country and the perfect place for the show, with it's size and huge history.

Instead of trying to force the crowd to hate the Iiconics let them be babyfaces for the night to milk the pops. Plus seeing Asuka and especially Naomi trying for heel heat just for the evening will make the match better.

Iiconics are abysmal. A face turn even for the night might actually be a good way to go, and Asuka as a heel would be wicked. I'm still dying to see Asukas heel run.

Honestly though, so far the event sounds like shit. Far more interested in Evolution.

Off to Peterborough with 1,700 sold out away fans, but should get a match or two live, before catching up with the rest when I get home. My predictions are........

Triple H to beat Undies before Taker gets revenge in a Saudi Arabia rematch thus making a mockery of this being last time ever.

Lashley and Cena to beat Owens/Elias. I can't see part time John coming all the way from China during a movie shoot, to job.

Bryan over Miz. Bryan finally needs a win against Miz and gets a new fued from it.

Shield to beat Braun/Ziggles/Drew. I can see Ziggles taking the fall to build more after all that weak link chat to him on Raw.

Bella's and Rousey to beat Riott Squad. Those three never put anybody over.

Styles to beat Joe. After the dodgy finish in their last match, the babyface leader of the brand needs to win strongly.

Buddy Murphy over Cedric Alexander. Not seen a 205 match in months as I don't watch the weekly show and their matches on PPV are always pre show. I will go for new champion for a local pop. Then the new heel champion back in America can ramp up being heelish by mentioning how he won the belt in a far superior country.

New Day to beat The Bar. No new champion here. Looks like a low card nobody cares match. Probably be the first of the night?

Asuka/Naomi to beat Iiconics. Would love to be wrong but the way Peyton and Billie get used, they aren't going to get a win in front of their own fans.

Becky Lynch to retain against Charlotte. It's going to be interesting to see if heel Becky is as popular outside of North America. I am going to say she will be.
