For as good as the match v banks was good - her promos are fucking awful

This is part of the problem with the japs in WWE

Yes they are decent wrestlers - although kick far too much for my liking - they cant connect with the audience via the promos - unless they speak good english then they should not speak at all

Agree 100%. For fucks sake when will WWE learn - keep the Japanese talents away from the microphone! They are over they don't need to speak! Her promo in Japanese just had fans scratching their heads waiting for her to shut up and then of course she did the one awkward sounding line in English.

Asuka oozes charisma and does her talking in the ring, she doesn't need to speak at all, they are in danger of making the same mistakes with her that they are making with Nakamura.

Superb match with Sasha though and the bump Sasha took on the ring apron when she ate a kick from Asuka as she dived through the ropes looked sick. This match was on a par with the quality the ladies produce in NXT. This is currently the most interested I've been in Women's Wrestling.

This is exactly why I want her with a manager. Heyman is the obvious choice but damn, anyone would do. She has such great body language and is so good at telling a story physically that she doesn't need to cut a promo except but once in a while. Maybe if she ever becomes fluent that would be another story, but until then, give her a manager if you need promos cut on her behalf, otherwise stay away from them.

I agree Asuka does her talking in the ring; but I don't think talking and saying a few (obviously memorized) lines harms her at all. It shows she is trying to interact with the American audience and makes her more personable. I'd prefer it to remaining silent. Ditto with Nakamura.

I know that Rico has compared Asuka to Bill Goldberg as far as the undefeated gimmick goes. But I would say an even greater comparison is to Lou Thesz, not just in terms of a long held undefeated run but also in the sense that she can seems to be super tough based on her ability to grapple and hook on submissions alone. It's almost a mirror image.

And yes, the match with Sasha on Raw was amazing and one of my favorite women's matches ever.

I totally agree, but the other part of the problem is someone so prominently pushed should be cutting promos or having someone in a manager role doing it for them.

Quote Sasha Banks does an interview in the back where she says she's ready to beat Asuka. Asuka might have made history last night, but Sasha says tonight she'll be the one making history. Sasha starts heading towards the gorilla position, her match is up next.

- Sasha Banks vs. Asuka: Asuka takes control of this one early on and works over Sasha with kicks to the body. Asuka starts working over Sasha's left shoulder. Asuka whips Sasha in the corner but Sasha stops her with a boot to the face. Sasha follows up with the double knees to the face. Sasha beats on Asuka in the corner and hits her with some knee strikes. Down on the mat, Sasha drives more knees into Asuka. Sasha slaps Asuka across the face, and Asuka isn't happy. They trade slaps to the face, but Sasha grabs her and puts her in the Banks Statement. Asuka gets out, but Banks locks her right back in. Asuka fights out again, then Banks throws her outside. Sasha goes for a suicide dive, but Asuka kicks her in the face and drops her out of mid air. Sasha hits the apron and floor hard. Back in the ring, Asuka and Banks trade blows to the face. Asuka hits a knee to the face then some elbows. Asuka kicks out Sasha legs, then hits a running knee to the face. Running hip attack by Asuka in the corner, but then she misses the follow-up attack and Sasha sends Asuka crashing out to ringside. Sasha follows up with flying double knees off the apron onto Asuka on the floor. Back in the ring, Sasha hits a flying knee off the top rope onto Asuka. Asuka tries to come back with an Asuka Lock, but Sasha escapes. Sasha locks in the Banks Statement, but Asuka reverses right into an Asuka Lock. Sasha taps out, and Asuka wins via submission.

Winner: Asuka

Some of her kicks looked a lot more stiff than management probably would have liked them to have been.

With Paige out they wouldn't have liked another of their top females being out of action.

The kick from Asuka during Sasha's suicide dive was about as picture perfect as you could want, though. It didn't even quite connect, making it a working kick that looked snug. Everything that happened to Sasha was done BY Sasha. If you watch it over (and over and over) at 0.25 speed on youtube you can see Sasha stepped far too close to the ropes to make a successful dive, and used the middle rope to help dump herself over. That's significant because it rarely happens with ANYONE. If they're going to hit accidently on a rope it's on the shoulders or back area on the top rope, but as this dive happened Sasha used to legs to stop her momentum and swing downwards to time it with Asuka's kick. Sasha then straightened her legs to slide to the ground easily. It looks sickening at first sight, but after re-watching it a bunch you can see that Asuka could be completely absent from that scene and Sasha's bump would have looked the same. Not only that but Sasha's hands were out in front of her so she really only fell about a foot or so before her hands hit the ground, after which point Sasha was in complete control of her fall once again. It looked terrible but in fact it was surprisingly safe.

Seriously skip to 1 minute and 30 seconds in, set the playback speed to 0.25 and ignore the fact that Asuka is even in the shot, and just watch Sasha. Watch where she is when her feet finally leave the mat and how her body wraps around the middle rope, and then as she starts to fall, watch her hands. There's no scrambling for position or panicked look or anything as she falls, it's all done with the utmost confidence and surety that she knows what she's doing. It was all her based on how she jumped, and it was an incredible sell.

Asuka's kick had literally nothing to do with it. The rest of the kicks were still lighter than what you see in the various places Asuka has worked in Japan. Sasha took the hardest kicks from Asuka yet, but Asuka can and has given far worse.

That said, you're probably right. Management probably would like the kicks to be lighter. Likely Sasha wanted them hard though so they looked good.

Oh also? The crowd was pretty dead last night. This was a very good match, that people are now calling even better than it really was, but the crowd barely reacted to anything, even this bump got barely a reaction.

I’ve only seen snippets of raw however from what I’m reading it would appear Kurt Angle made Asukas decision for her regarding her mania opponent given the stipulation of her match with Jak at EC

The decision about which champion she will face has not been made just yet however the stipulation is should Nia Jax win the match against Asuka then she is added to the title match of Asuka's choosing and making said match a triple threat match.

My guess is Asuka still win as it will seem pointless to waste a loss on Nia as Asukas already beaten her twice before.

I think it's very telling that Asuka in the last few weeks has been given clean wins over Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks and Bayley and will almost undoubtedly get the victory over Nia Jax.

Who's left on Raw for her to fight exactly? See you on Smackdown, Asuka.

I agree.

As I posted the other day I seen that the plans were for her I gave Charlotte at Mania - however when reading the online report for Raw it looked like Angle decided Asuka was facing Bliss.

The storyline however plays into the report I read whereby Asuka can go to SD and Bliss could face Jax.
