Quote We get a vignette for WWE NXT Superstar Apollo Crews, who is next. Crews is backstage talking to Shane as we go to commercial.

Tyler Breeze vs. Apollo Crews

We go to the ring and out comes Tyler Breeze. WWE NXT Superstar Apollo Crews is out next for his RAW debut.

They go at it to start. Crews catches Breeze in a huge slam for a 2 count. Breeze ends up turning it around and going for a few pin attempts. Breeze keeps Crews grounded now. Crews turns it around with the press and the standing moonsault. Crews with the powerbomb for the win.

Winner: Apollo Crews

– Crews celebrates after the match and gets a good pop.

I still stand by him being like the new Bobby Lashley and don't think he will be over for too long before he's the latest NXT debutant dropping down the card.

It will be like when Big E debuted. He will probably end up and heel bodyguard/lackey for someone at some point next year.

At least his matches aren't going to be booked to last too long.

TBH I think they would be best using this as a one-off appearance. He's just not ready for Raw yet, if for no other reason than because the fans don't want him YET. By next year, sure, most likely, but he hasn't done enough or shown enough to the fans for them to want him.

I think this was directly related to the injury to Neville. He certainly wasn't ready.

There were plenty of other guys that could have been used in Neville's place instead of Crews though. Emma for example, or Stardust, or Damien Sandow, any member of the social outcasts, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, Finn Balor, Nakamura, etc. I don't remember the timing, but Maryse might even have been a possibility.

Hell for exhibition's sake, put on Asuka vs Alexa Bliss, or Eva Marie, or Nia Jaxx or the like, and say: "This is the kind of action you can expect to see on NXT every week if you subscribe to the WWE Network."

Crews was a deliberate debut, and I don't think it was a wise choice because he's just not ready, YET.

Surprising debut as most were expecting Balor or Joe. It does seem too soon for him but I do wonder if the plan was always to fast track him to the main roster as I guess he can only improve so much in NXT while on the main roster he can gain much needed experience and work with a lot of veterans.

I stand by what I've been saying for a while though and that's turn him heel and give him a mouth-piece, maybe Heyman? The smiley babyface thing isn't working and will probably have fans booing before long.

God he was dull on Raw. He's the new piss break for the live crowd.

He'd probably be really good as a bad ass heel with a mouthpiece if they had gone down that route.

By the Autumn he will have slipped down the card as quick as others in the past like Breeze, Rose etc did.

Debuting him this year was a mistake.

I've said several times before that it would be smart booking to turn Crews heel and book him similar to Lesnar/Lashley as a bad-ass powerhouse with someone else doing the talking for them.

Also wouldn't mind seeing a new Authority stable of Roman Reigns, Crews, Ryback and Baron Corbin, all guys who fit the profile of what WWE think a superstar should be.

That's not a bad idea as far as the stable is concerned. I just feel like Crews especially would be wildly popular if he just spent another year in NXT.

I agree but booking him as a Lesnar/Batista type bad-ass heel could have the same effect, a few wins in dominating fashion over some top faces and the fans would soon be cheering him.
