I don't like factions in wrestling unless they make sense and the Inner Circle doesn't at least not yet, it just feels like a bunch of guys thrown together, I mean Jericho has history with Hager in WWE so I could have understood him recruiting Hager as his muscle/bodyguard, but LAX and Sammy Guervera I don't see what their connection is to Jericho and he never really explained it either. I hope this doesn't turn into the latest copycat attempt of the NWO.

The women's division is awful, it really is piss break tv for me right now and until the division improves I will probably skip over most of the ladies matches. This isn't completely AEW's fault I mean WWE have locked down so many of the better female talents which hasn't left much for AEW to use to fill their women's roster, they will probably be well served to keep the ladies wrestling pretty low key on the show until they can recruit some more talent.

The stuff AEW are doing well is great, I like the emphasis on wins and losses and the production is really good it has a Monday Nitro look and feel to it. The trouble is AEW still has a fresh and new buzz about it which will soon fade and Its then that they have to put out their best possible product to keep fans interested.

So I obviously haven't watched any wrestling with being on holiday, however alot of people including the likes of Bully Ray are really praising this weeks dynamite and claiming AEW to be the most exciting wrestling promotion and saying it's not even close.

Things are looking good for the new boys in town

I'm glad they're done with the tag team tournament. I have to admit that tag team wrestling is far better in AEW than anywhere else, but character development isn't AEW's strong suit either so I don't much care for any of the tag teams despite putting on very good shows.

Moxley was cool as always, and I'm digging his storyline. I appreciate the way AEW does wins and losses as this is a storyline that simply couldn't exist in WWE's format, or anyone else's for that matter.

AEW's women's division still isn't much to talk about. Hikaru Shida wrestled this week, and for as much as I love what I've seen of her in Japan, this was a very weak performance by both her and the French girl with the nice ass that debuted against her. Very sloppy work, and that's disappointing because Shida in particular looked great in the matches I watched of hers on YouTube while she was in Japan.

In all I think this was AEW's worst show yet, and sub-par for what I would expect from them. Hopefully next week's episode marks a big step up because AEW can't allow themselves to become mediocre. They need to continue getting better.

You hit the nail on the head there, AEW's problem is lack of character development, there's some good wrestling going on but they've not given me any reason to care about half of their roster most of whom - to quote RVD - don't even look like wrestlers so it's hard for me to give a damn about a bunch of vanilla midget spot monkeys who I know nothing about.

This is the first AEW episode where I've nearly switched off or skipped through certain segments/matches, the only parts of the show that grabbed my attention were Moxley's promo and the stuff with Jericho and Cody, I would have been quite happy to watch a few YouTube highlights this week as most of the show bored me.

The women's match was sloppy, I'm not a gamer so the Omega/Young Bucks video game themed crap was totally lost on me. Best Friends against a trio of jobbers was ridiculous. Sammy Guervera vs Hangman Page was ok but Page is still poor on the mic, sorry but just because you say cowboy shit it doesn't make you a good promo.

Dynamite was the worst wrestling show this week. Rico is right people are saying it's a great time to be a wrestling fan but that's not really true, it was a great time to be a fan when you had three promotions all putting out a great product and it was a tough choice on which you watched, but now it's more a case of which is the least bad of all the shows.

I'm getting tired of all the comments on character development.

In WWE it took a long time before anyone really took notice of John Cena, for example.

AEW is 6 episodes old - give it a chance

Of course there are areas to improve but we have a brand new roster here.

They get criticised for taking ex WWE talent, they get criticised for people not knowing who their roster are - they cant win.

In 3 month or so, if we still feel that the AEW roster is not being developed from a character point of view, then we have grounds to complain.

6 weeks in though - come on - give it a rest

I'm being patient, I'm just saying they have very little time for promos and/or backstage segments and that time isn't going to anyone other than Jericho or Cody or Moxley all of whom are people everyone already is quite familiar with. That's their problem with character development.

I like the fact that AEW puts far more emphasis on in-ring action, but you can't get invested without characters you really feel like you know, and AEW is doing jack squat to address this.

If they were, then the fact that we don't really know people is really just a matter of time and being patient is completely warranted, but I don't see much worth talking about there. Adam Page had a promo and it was like Fletch said, pretty bland.

AEW really needs a guy like Jake "The Snake" to work with the roster and give advice similar to WWE developmental's promo class.

Also, John Cena is bland and boring. It took no time at all for people to form an opinion on The Miz, or for that matter MJF in AEW.

This isn't Ring of Honor, the matches aren't the ONLY thing that matters. You need a good balance of both. WWE goes far too heavy-handed on the promos and out of the ring bullshit, but AEW is doing too little.

To quote HBK: "And again" I'm not saying AEW is shitting the bed or anything like that. Since they debuted they've been very good, and doing a great job of getting the ball rolling on their show. I'm just saying they DO need to work more on character development so that people feel invested in what's going on.

I would have been fine with AEW getting some ex WWE talent, at least then it would have been names people could recognise and care about, my issue was that on the debut episode when people were expecting CM Punk or that level of a surprise debut we got Jack Swagger.

Like Rico says they are putting too much time into ring time when they should be giving us more promos to get to know the talent. I mean at least one episode was loaded with tag team matches it was overkill, throw a promo or a backstage segment or video package in there.

Back to the getting WWE talent, I would have loved to have seen them get guys like Ryback, Harry Smith, Teddy Hart, Wade Barrett etc, talent that is recognisable, just dont debut them in the main event of the first show when people are expecting a huge name.

Its early days I know but this is when they should be building their viewership, ratings have been declining each week and I find myself less interested each week instead of wanting more.

There is so much wrestling on right now AEW needs to be something special for me to really invest my time into their product, WWE is at a low point sure but after close to 30 years as a fan they would have to be really terrible to completely lose me, I enjoy NXT and there is enough good amongst the sea of bad on the main roster to keep me watching, as I've always said when WWE are good they're really good its just not often enough.

I've said this before but I think the way forward for AEW is to build working relationships with NJPW or maybe even Impact to give them a deeper talent roster particularly with the women, and then focus more time on promos and introducing new characters to the audience. The vignettes on this Wardlow guy are a step in the right direction let's see more of that.

Just a thought but they have to feel down they have missed out on three big names in the past week or two.

Randall Keith Orton: Signs a new contract with E long term. Future headline hall of fame induction, one of the all time greats of any era and a huge E guy.

Mike Mizanin: Also signed a long term new contract with E. Yes he's not Randy but after spending 15 years working for the same company it would have been a huge coup to have got him to join.

CM Punk: Regardless of if he works for Fox or not it would take a brave fan to put money on him not having another PPV match for Vinnie Mac next year.

Imagine at least one of those game changers in AEW. All three would have REALLY got the business talking. E can be happy with their business in the past month.

Everyone always speculates who will be the first big name to join AEW from the big boys like when it was Christian who went to TNA. Nobody is speculating yet if the first big move between the two companies turned out to be a AEW guy jumping the ship.

Look how many guys left E for TNA and then all eventually came back realising that for all the mistakes E make it's the best place to be. That could be putting talent off trying the same thing again, but this time with AEW.

None of them were ever going to go anywhere other than WWE

AEW have missed out on nothing

Miz - WWE to the core
Orton - WWE to.the core
Punk - has no intention of wrestling again so offers nothing to AEW but in his current role for fox it gives the fan boys hope to cling onto that hell have one more match

It is a blow for AEW not getting Punk as he would have been a game changer for them, a legit star with a proven headlining record who would fit the AEW product perfectly and would have surely boosted interest in their product in the short term at least. It still cant be ruled out I mean for all we know Punk hates his new job and quits and heads straight to AEW, but that's unlikely and if Punk does wrestle again which I think is about 50/50 as I think a big pay day Wrestlemania one off match could tempt him, then at this point it seems it will be for WWE.

Orton I really thought may have signed with AEW, on the surface it appears hes the loyal WWE company man but after so many years I thought it was really possible he was burned out from the road and frustrated with his creative direction and would have been tempted by the money and lighter schedule of AEW, plus he has history with Cody. But sadly it wasnt to be and he went the predictable route renewing his WWE deal which will probably take him to retirement.

The Miz is the stereotype for a WWE wrestler, he is WWE through and through and wouldnt fit anywhere else. Miz jumping ship to AEW never even crossed my mind.

AEW definitely need to continue building their roster, who they have now is fine but once they've exhausted all options with their top talent where do they go from there? They need more depth with their talent even if it means getting guys in on limited date deals as attractions.
Smaller companies like Impact and MLW are locking talent down with exclusive contracts too so the pool of wrestlers available to AEW seems to be getting smaller and smaller unless they can figure out working relationships with some of the smaller promotions, they've already said working with NJPW is not a option.
