AJ styles music and intro/entrance is IMO the worst most ill-fitting and generic in the entire wwe.

As it grown on you yet? A redneck coming out to urban music is a great change of pace.

Nice moment for him making history as the first time a new WWE Champion has been crowned outside of North America.

He should enjoy the next few weeks as the transitional champion I expect.

it certainly doesn't fit his character, I did wonder why they didn't buy the rights to his music from TNA when they signed him, I don't recall that being owned by TNA

I would have a small mark out if he came out to Ready to Fly but I think it is a case of TNA maybe holding the rights and Vince being Vince
Y'know what?....It's really fucking hot here in Africa. Who knew?....Well me, I have been doing this for almost 5 years

I dont understand why theyve decided to do the title change now?

Surely having a full build up of Styles v Lesnar would have been better than a few weeks of mahal and then switching to AJ

I was looking forward to seeing Mahal get completely destroyed too

Maybe we will still get the chance to see that if they put him in the elimination match and have Strowman rip him apart

They need to make it look err equal at SS and AJ will pull a decent match out of Lesnar....plus you also have the India tour coming up.....Mahal to win it back there perhaps?

Or....maybe...just maybe....WWE are now being a tad unpredictable?

Surprise booking is great if it's not overdone.

The best surprise booking in my entire fandom was when Warrior was fired at the 11th hour and replaced by turning Mr. Perfect babyface. That one match meant basically EVERYTHING to me as a fan going into Survivor Series '92.

Likewise the illnesses that took out Wyatt and Reigns last month ended up making for a far better PPV by returning Kurt Angle to the ring, and bringing in AJ Styles to face off against Finn Balor.

Exactly the unpredictability of the last month has made for some fantastic booking and I’d say it’s a fair bet ratings and subscriptions have seen a boost as a result.
WWE should take note from this and realise that they should think outside the box more and not be so safe with the booking. Of course at the same time unpredictability will lose its shine if it’s done too often so it shouldn’t become overkill.

On another note as I understand Styles requested a rap music theme because he likes it and was worried they might go a country music route because he’s Southern but he can’t stand country.
It would have been awesome if he’d used his ready to fly theme in WWE but I think that was always going to be unlikely. I don’t mind his rap theme at all.

No, I can't stand it. Then again, I can't stand the idea of him coming out to a remixed version of Double J's original theme from 1994.

Quote WWE pulled off an extremely shocking move on last night’s (Tues. November 7, 2017) SmackDown Live when AJ Styles defeated Jinder Mahal to become the new WWE Champion in the main event. Styles will now take on Brock Lesnar at the WWE’s Survivor Series pay-per-view (PPV) event from Houston, Texas on November 19th.

Per a report from Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, he received word from someone in India several weeks back that the WWE was promoting Jinder Mahal as a two-time WWE Champion for their upcoming tour. Meltzer noted that this promotion has nothing to do with the decision to make Styles WWE Champion, as the decision to make the title change was made only a week ago.

People who were supposed to know about the title change didn’t know about it until this week, and Meltzer himself didn’t find out about it until the morning of SmackDown. Meltzer confirmed that WWE “absolutely” planned to have Jinder Mahal champion heading into their India tour, and there’s still a chance that could happen. AJ isn’t scheduled to be a part of that tour; and it’s likely the decision to have AJ win the title was a last-minute one given that Styles was initially advertised to be taking on Rusev for a spot on SmackDown Live’s Survivor Series team.

Could be the big Jericho announcement of wrestling Omega elsewhere prompted them to steal some of the spotlight back by doing something that's never happened before.

Love the tweet AJ did about the fans. He felt the love like it was a homecoming for him. Probably the best moment of his career I would say.

It would suck if he's a transitional champion. He needs another decent size run.
