Styles has surprised me with how good his heel work has been on the mic but promos are still not his forte and given his strong fan following I think he's better suited to life as a babyface. I think his heel turn has been done mainly to facilitate his feud with John Cena which will surely be resurrected soon.

Styles in contrast to standard WWE booking has been booked stronger as a heel than he was as a face but I still think his long term future with the company will be as a face where he will take on a Shawn Michaels type role where he is a popular veteran talent who can always be relied upon to steal the show with his matches.

As someone who never watched him in TNA, I have to say, I haven't yet seen a match of his that was truly all that great. He gets a reaction, that's really all that I can say of him. Of the TNA guys I've seen more noteworthy performances in one aspect or another from Bobby Roode, Samoa Joe, and Austin Aries than I have from AJ Styles. I think people are just marking for him for the sake of marking for him than anything.

His style is high flying but without relying on being a spot monkey. Vince doesn't like his heels to do fancy moves that will get them babyface pops so wait till he eventually turns and you will see what he can do without heel restrictions. Check out his TNA X Division stuff against the likes of Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian.

He's an heel who gets good heel heat unlike so many others who struggle for it. He should be the PWI ranked one guy in their next list.

He would be just as over on the so called A brand Raw as he is on Smackdown.

Read a report yesterday suggesting Wrestlemania plans have Styles dropping the World title soon and then facing Randy Orton at WM.

I think AJ deserves better than this, I get that WWE want to have Cena vs The Undertaker at Mania and inserting the World title in to the mix is a easy way to facilitate that, but AJ/Orton just feels like a low card offering at the big event. Why not put Styles in a Raw vs Smackdown attraction and have him face someone like Finn Balor or even Sami Zayn in a smarks dream match.

I was dissapointed he lost the title, but taking the fall to Baron Corbin was a new low.

Since he's dropped the belt his booking hasn't been anywhere near as strong as it should be.

I worry he's going to be put in a filler match that's beneath him at Wrestlemania when he deserves much better.

I noted that AJ eating the fall was a strange move in the main SD thread. I'm assuming it'll be part of a bigger storyline going forward but I just don't see where it's coming from at the moment.

We haven't really had AJ going all nasty over the fact he isn't getting a one on one rematch. He had a little bitch about it before Royal Rumble but nothing since, guess that's just WWE logic.

Maybe AJ taking the fall was high praise from management? That in trying to create a new main eventer the best way they could elevate that happening would be to beat the most recent former champion?

I expect he will end up as a babyface in higher midcard winning plenty of fueds as the year progresses.

Even at that he's still better off staying on Smackdown where less backstage politics happens.

Maybe so. I mentioned in the Corbin thread, he's got a good upside and needs handling correctly. I know AJ has always been seen as a massive business player so he wouldn't have any issue in helping the next guy.

I think you're right about him being a babyface going forward. Even as a heel he's still got amazing reactions. He's probably been the first guy since Austin to get those stupidly strong reactions as a heel...unless my mind is forgetting someone glaringly obvious of course haha.

The only way I can see AJ moving to Raw in the future is if Reigns and or Rollins move over to SD to free up the position for him. In theory SD can be built around AJ/Cena/Orton as the elder figure heads with the others mixing it up and taking their chance when it comes.

Happy he's stayed on Smackdown as he fits the show like a glove and now has lots of new possible fueds thanks to the shake up.

There wasn't anyone on Smackdown more over this week and his babyface turn is now officially complete.

Still not sure his DMX style rap music fits his country boy persona, but his entrance is still one of the best in the company.

I loved it when Jericho said he didnt like AJ or his soccer mom hairstyle, and that they had both 'just made the list'. And when he picked on Ellsworth as well, calling him Chince McMahon. Tongue
