From Jim Ross website..............

Quote I have no idea what happened to Ahmed Johnson. Can any one help us with this one? I thought Ahmed had a great "look" and marketable intensity, but his in ring skills were a little unrefined, which doesn’t make him a bad person for the record. Ahmed also had "it" which can’t be taught or gifted.

Could someone on here help JR out with where he is? I've not seen anything of him since he did a shoot video some years ago. Back in 1996, he had what it took to be a big star in the business. He had the look and he was more importantly over with the fans. His problem was how often he got injured. The kidney stuff with Farooq was quite good. I wasn't a fan of his when he was doing the Nation Of Domination stuff and felt heel didn't suit him. In WCW, he had really let himself go and he looked out of shape.

While watching some 90’s WWE PPV stuff on the Network was reminded of this guy and saw some of his matches.

You would think he would have reached super stardom in WWE, he had the look, presence and charisma, from what I remember he wasn’t a terrible promo. In the ring he was rough around the edges but he reminded me of Goldberg in that he was all about big power spots and playing to the crowd which he seemed to do very effectively.

Despite a strong push he never quite made it and then left only to resurface in WCW looking very out of shape and was only used as one half of the new Harlem Heat team with Stevie Ray.

Anyone know why he quit WWE and why he failed to get to headliner level and then why he headed to WCW having really let himself go?
